My one and only camping trip to Gettysburg was probably in the late 70's. Rented a tent camper, borrowed my in-law's car to tow it and spent a week with a river behind us. Lots of rain, camper totally damp, 2 kids with us and wifey didn't like it at all! Trip back home was memorable. Short on cash we filled the tank and it was on empty when we made it back home. didn't think we would make it. Camping is always an experience and always memorable. That's what makes it fun! Belated happy anniversary!
You guys have not aged a bit. Gettysburg is an event that should never be forgotten. And Sally, she exemplifies the loyalty and love of a dog. Thank you for sharing with us.
While doing tactical studies in the Marine Corps in 1991, we read The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara before visiting Gettysburg. It was amazing to walk the grounds and imagine the tactical excursions taking place in 1863. The images formed in my mind from reading the book were as clear as if it happened just a few days before. It’s an epic place to learn a little bit about piece of American history. 👍
We love reminiscing about places we’ve been before. The spot is even more meaningful when you have that previous shared experience. ❤️ - Michelle & Brian
I live in Franklin County near Gettysburg. My Husband and I 33 year's ago spent our Honeymoon in Gettysburg on Memorial weekend. We still go find new things when we go to Gettysburg. Our little town of Chambersburg, PA was burnt during the Civil War.
Enjoyed your video. We were visiting family in PA, and made a side trip to Gettysburg Battle Field, wow on so many levels. Got the history bug, looking at the map on the trip back to Texas we were immediately drawn to looping through several Civil War Battlefields including Antietam in MD, Harpers Ferry, drove through most of Shenandoah National Park, stops at Shiloh in Tn, and Vicksburg in Ms. These are amazing national parks/battlefields that immediately draw you into the incredible history and magnitude of it all; I didn't begin to appreciate until visiting. If traveling in these areas it is well worth even driving through these battle grounds if pressed for time, each have excellent visitor centers, and most of the battle areas appear as they did at the time.
We were in Gettysburg June 10/11. Then went on to Lancaster/Strasburg for a week. We came back west on US 30 to I 70. Then I 68, I 79 and I 70 again to Columbus before turning south towards Cinci and on east on US 50 to home just north of 50 just east of I 65. WE enjoyed ourselves.
My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the Gettysburg Hotel in 1992. We went back for the first time two years ago in our Airstream. We stayed at the KOA and had a great few days. Glad you had a great time.
The Waggle definitely takes the stress out of leaving the baby's in the rig. We would also leave it in the truck when we made put stops when Molly was in the truck, we'd leave it running, but still worries.
Used to take the Army ROTC Cadets there annually from Ohio University for their Battle Staff Rides. A sobering and very effective lesson for all! Great lesson for many folks today to remember how many Americans fought and died to end slavery!
Hi Guys We have been to Gettysburg twice. The 2nd time in our 22 foot travel trailer at the same campground. Great location for getting in and around the battle grounds.
Went to Gettysburg back in 1996, when we lived in Philly at the time. We should plan a trip there again. We enjiyed Hershey and Lancaster county Amish too.
Been to Gettysburg twice, the last time was 2003. I love American history and can spend days there. Next time I go to Gettysburg, I'm hoping I will have my trailer. Thanks for sharing.
The Rockies are higher, the Appalachians are steeper. The east side of the country was a much bigger impediment to moving west than the Rockies. I have been to Gettysburg, but many, many moons ago, maybe before Lynn was born, it was somewhere pre-1972 as I recall. The thing that amazed me about the Civil War was how many battles were fought within 100 miles or so of Washington D,C.
We go there often. Love it. About an hour from our house. They are under new management this year. We have not been there yet in 2021. Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves.
We will be heading to Gettyburg Campground in October for the annual Apple Harvest Festival. Never stayed at this campground before, but it came recommended to us by a few families. Typically we are down the road a bit at Artillery Ridge. Gettysburg is always a great time! Nice video and congrats on reliving your Honeymoon! Such a great idea!
We stayed at artillery ridge over Christmas a few years back and enjoyed it. Artillery ridge and Gettysburg campground are owned by the same family now (few years back) too! Gettysburg is always a great visit and we always seem to see something new
@@WanderingWagners you know I was wondering that because the websites were eerily similar! I wonder if they will let us come over and play mini golf ⛳️ We like the little course over at Artillery Ridge lol
Gettysburg one of my most favorite places to RV. So much to see and so much to do. You channel has just been getting better ever upload. Thank you for putting out great content.
I was somewhat surprised that during the week the Gettysburg park was almost empty. You are right about those grades and curves. I have driven straight through from Chicago twice and no one excepts them. My last time at the park was 2013 for the 150th anniversary… crowds everywhere but they kept the traffic moving. The visitor center was quite an upgrade. Glad your return was successful!
It was definitely a reasonable crowd! Way better than the last time we were here, at the battlefield areas at least. We were supposed to go in 2013 as well but had to cancel and didn't return until now haha
Bummer! You should have had a meet up while here in PA! Hope you took in the breweries, distillery and swung by Reids for great hard cider! Very different scene than your honeymoon! Oh, and are mountains are the oldest in N. America, but when they were formed they were taller than the Himalayas ever peaked! If you want to see PA's mountain beauty, run up into Tioga County! Also, there's more to Sallie Ann's story and her loyalty to the 11th, but I'll leave that for visitors to learn and smile (decades ago, I was guide at Gettysburg Battlefield).
We've been to Gettysburg about 1/2 dozen times. We are not far away in MD. It's a good place to go. You can take bus tours through the battlefields or can buy a CD to play in your vehicle that will take you on the tour as well. We stayed at Caledonia State park each time which is a nice state park.
So sorry we missed you! Terri and I are actually workamping here at Gettysburg Campground! I remember seeing you and thinking wow they look familiar. Now I know why! Glad you enjoyed your visit!
We went to Gettysburg Columbus Day weekend in 2019. Unfortunately, I waited to the last minute to find a campground and ended up 1 hour way. So we only spent one day in the park but made the best of it by hiring a private guide. We had a 3 hour guided tour by a very knowledgeable person. I only wish we had done a 6 hour tour, it was so fascinating and worth every penny. We would like to go back another time and stay locally.
Sitting at this campground tonight. Def one of the more expensive sites at $70/nite and it’s as far from “camping” asas possible. Had high expectations for this area. Unfortunately we will see if we can be refunded for any of our stay and go someplace else 🤞🏻. Live & learn.
Sorry to hear you aren't enjoying your stay here. It's nostalgic to us because we honeymooned here. We are pretty easy to please haha Gettysburg in the summer can be pretty expensive no matter where you stay though, so good luck!🤞🏼
Haha we move fast what can we say! The Waggle had a service fee, we paid for a whole year. You can do monthly, half year, or a year I believe. We've had great luck with it
It wouldn’t be camping with the Wagner’s without rain. I just can’t tell you how much I enjoy your videos as the dogs are so prominently featured. Until my retirement day, I’ll live vicariously through your dogs to get my dog fix. Guy is so sweet and needy, I love him. And Piper is just amazing also. Her personality is wonderful. Thank you for continuing to feature them!!🐾❤️🐾 How’s Kenny doing? Late for everything, I’m sure. 🤣😂
We visited Gettysburg about 4 years ago, went to the visitors center and battlefields, I really didn't want to go but our friends wanted too, I was never a civil war buff but we watched the film at the welcome center and then went through the battlefields, I have to say I was moved by the hole experience, the loss of life is overwhelming. On another note I thought PA had some of the worst interstate that I have every drove on, if it wasn't loose in the motorhome when we went it was by the time we got back. Lol.
There is plenty of construction and newer roads going in PA. Definitely better than Indiana and Michigan roads. Overall we love the area because it's where we honeymooned, but it really does seem like a great scenic area overall
Hey guys great video we’re trying too get there some day how’s the prices and is everything pretty close . That cherry on the nose was hilarious and have you tried putting cream cheese in it too just a thought. Anyway great video. 👍🏻

Headed there in a month and excited to see it. Haven't been there since 1984 long before the visitors center was built lol. Looking forwarded to camping there. We are staying at the KOA outside of Gettysburg. Any places you recommended for eating at for restaurants? Thanks for sharing!!
