Gonna take Serums crown imo. I've seen some edm artists say theyve heard of it but never tried it which is crazy to me but it's hard for me to come to terms with the reality that there's people out there content with what they have haha. I've also seen people say not being able to make your own wavetables is a deal breaker so they don't bother. Which seems like a weird bar to set to what you're allowing yourself to experiment with. People also don't seem to know that the effects in this are their fully functional effects available to purchase as stand alone and not some lite version. This synth is a game changer.
Nah. Try to dig info about Mod Remapping, Randomizers, amount of OSC and Filters in Serum. Pity to admit but Vital is the best. Plus, keep in mind the ratio between price and offered features. Serum had never been experiencing any discounts having 2 OSC, only 1 Filter, 2 rudimentary Randomizers (Chaos) placed on another page of the synth which is incredibly user-hostile and no sensible Mod Remapping. Even Current/PhasePlant/Pigments have no Mod Remapping for more delicate or inverse modulation. And that's for 200$ or 99$ with discount against free Vital? That's competitive suicide 🙄
BTW, only now in the video I noticed that there are 2 Filters in Current but they are only "switchable" that means you can't Mix second Filter in Series Mode like in Vital. You just can switch on second Filter and that's it. In Vital each of Filters has MIX button so you can process all OSC by first Filter and then... SLOWLY (or w/ Macro) start adding second Filter in Series Mode with the help of MIX button of that second Filter. That's smoother, wider and more diverse user experience. Sadly, Current guys didn't notice it 🤔
Nice update but I wouldn't call it a major update. More like Current 1.5. My main problem with the synth are the filters. There's no drive and even a 0 there's always some resonance in the filter. Still, good update overall and I'm a big fan of Minimal Audio. Good decision about the $99 intro price. At this price Current is really one of the best synth you can get.
For an update: getting a new interface tab and a new effect is pretty big. Usually its just bugfixes with updates not function improving. For an upgrade its small, for an update - big ;-)
Are those preset examples you're playing which appear to be within subcategories, i.e. Cinematic Bass, Bass Abyss etc, part of the 400 included presets in the barebones package? Or are they part of the extra content that requires a subscription? Ah, you said they're part of the 400 presets (the accent threw me momentarily).
Both are amazing, Current has a more user friendly workflow but Phase Plant has a lot more depth and capabilities. If I could only have one synth in my arsenal, I'd go for Phase Plant. That being said, I have both and reach for Current a lot more often than Phase Plant just because of how much quicker it is to get in and get to the sound I'm looking for. I'd recommend trying out both companies all access subscriptions for a month and seeing which you like better. I know minimal audio gives the first month free for the subscription and kilohearts is only $10 a month (not sure if they have a free trial)
@FightinTheGorlax ah nice one thanks bro I'm about to get phase plant cause i luv serum but this is like serum on steriods. then I saw this current. Looks good but I like to design sounds myself. Thanks for replying to me I will sub ya. Thanks bro

I'm genuinely curious how many people are actually going in and making their own wavetables
I think no-one who wants to get things done ;-)
@@audiotoolshed for real. I did it once with vital for something super specific, which was great, then never did it again

@@audiotoolshed Yes, said this way I agree with you.
some day we are going to see a synth without turn into a presets hell
There are so many already. But I assume you want to save the settings you have set right ;-)
thanks ! what about falcon at 150 euros ? is it better ? think about reviewing that some time
falcon is more than just a synth. More comparable to a DAW really

@@lukeskirenko those are paid presets. There's a few factory libraries, but most are paid / subscription based
@@stefancruz1074 Are you sure? He appears to say that he's about to demonstrate a few of the 400, i.e. the 400 included with factory content.
Me at McDonalds, i would like a big Make. Don't you mean Mac. Like in Macro....😂 in that veen😂😂😂😂😂

Check out Pigments by Arturia as well.
@XenobraneStudios one of my faves
do you need current 1 to get current 2
No you don’t need that.
