Listening to his music and his interview, one understands that this young man looks at the world globally with a mature perception and cleverness, while his angry critics look at it only fragmentarily. For Osokins, art is a unity, while for people with a narrow mind, art consists of individual parts standing in quotation marks. He paints large canvases, while his critics pick out details and dissect them with a magnifying glass. The future belongs to this talent of feeling art holistically, while it still irritates the profane mind.
I am touched by his stories. They shed light on the beauty of the human soul's landscape. His devotion to Chopin and the free expression of his inner self translate into a captivating interpretation. Pianistically excelent.

He's introspective, characterful and brings out a lot of character from the CFX's he chooses. Since he's so big on articulation, this is a highly expressive way of playing in an almost vocal manner. Yet he can also create atmospheres in manipulating his touch and tone and brings out the shapes of the inner voices melodies and counterpoint that Chopin's melodic accompaniment can make. The other factor is rhythm. He can have a motor rhythm when needed as well to create a waltz, march, or whatever type of rhythm that's part of the music.
He's unique. I'm glad the crowd is enjoying it. The polish TV, from what I've heard, not so much. But you know, conservatives are a pain in the ass. Osokins brings out fresh interpretation of overplayed pieces and he does this very well. Definitely one of my favorites!
@@Thiago-px9ev In all respect there is so much individuality and creativity this year. We even have a full performance of «Chopin played jazzy style». There are definitly very much individuality, and just a segment of what I would call traditional, conservative Chopin playing.

It was a very original interpretation, but I think he was coherent throughout the piece with his choices. We are not used to listen to it played like that, that's why it could sound weird.
The Polonaise Fantasy was great, but there were a few parts that were different from what I personally prefer. His playing is wonderful, but I think it was slightly better in 2015.
For me he is the new Pogorelich, he shoud have been let to the 3rd round, even if his second was not his best (polonaises too manieric, without pathos).

Really huge shame to seem him out from Round 2 this time when he actually deserved to be the winner. The jury totally robbed him. I think the reason why he was out so early was because the jury needed someone like Argerich to protect the radical players.
Very, very disappointing. The Institute needs to rethink their procedures or just change out some members of their jury. There are a lot of pianists that didn't make it to the 2nd and 3rd round that I find deserving.
