  • My brother and I built this badass 3 car storage garage this summer/fall. My goal was to do everything ourselves and spend less than $5000. In all, 20x30, it cost just over $3,000 including all materials and expendables. Pretty proud of this thing! #musclecar #garagebuild

Great build guys, and the vehicles are not too shabby as well! I had a post in concrete in the ground for 22 years before it rotted, so piss on the negative Neds. When they do finally go, I’m sure filling the holes and adding concrete brackets would last another 20+. I’m building one this summer and I love your design! So thanks for the start.

Love how you cut out the rafters, so much stronger. Being that, you are in north country, and IF the bottom starts getting weathered. Get that Composite PVC Aztec board 5", and cut the bottom of your T 1-11 all the way around and insert. Water will never get that PVC board. Then just seal between the PVC board and T 1-11. Awesome build Thanks fo sharing.

Height would depend on how one wants to use the garage. I like the simplisty of the design here, as it is very functional and serves it purpose. As we look on, perhaps we might see places for improvement in the design, and I am sure there may be things he looks back and might would have done differently. But it is built now and it works. Great job! Would like to see your swing out doors for the garage, that you mentioned you would do. Would like to see more DIY build videos. -Rob

This video just gave me hope and motivation to build mine. I had this similar design in my head but all the contractors that i spoke to were each quoting me over $10-15k, while in my mind i was thinking it shouldn’t be more than 5… This looks like a project potentially for this coming summer. 3k all in sounds really really doable. Thanks for making this look easy man.

I’m glad my video was inspirational to you for wanting to build your own. It’s fun! Remember that I was able to do it for $3000 back when lumber was a little cheaper, this was 2018 but still I’m sure you’ll be able to do it for far less than you were quoted!

Bubbles between the lines are always a good start. You notched the roof rafters, great!
But there is alot of potential shear on those beams attached to the 4x4 posts.
Probably should have made a small notch in the vertical post to accept the beam, at least half each on both sides
Lots of weight for anchor bolts.. Just sayin'

I am sure you guys know what you do. You guys look very skilled
Just for my curiosity as I have never done any major project like yours.
Wouldn’t it be better to nail/attach the post on the concrete instead of concreted all the posts?

Wow! Front 12” (inches) & rear 7” (inches). Must be a garage for Matchbox cars. LMAO. Definitely, should of gone higher in the back but I’m sure you won’t regret it since that’s how you designed it. 😂

Anthony V I am almost certain he meant "feet" instead of "inches". Height would depend on how one wants to use the garage. I like the simplisty of the design here, as it is very functional and serves it purpose. As we look on, perhaps we might see places for improvement in the design, and I am sure there may be things he looks back and might would have done differently. But it is built now and it works.
