Yes. Love these videos. The more knowledge I have about pens and inks, the more likely I am to invest in specific purchases.... over just buying cheap pens in bulk.
My favorite to use are gel pens. The vibrancy, wide selection of ink colors, and its range of tip sizes ensures that I'll always find one perfect for any writing job. Hybrid ink pens are a close second. These pens are perfect for extensive note-taking as the ink lasts longer than gel pens and don't smear when using highlighter pens (there may be minimal smearing if using a 1.0 mm tip as it's letting out more ink). An added benefit of hybrid ink is that it appears darker than that of viscous oil-based ink pens. My favorite hybrid ink pens are the 0.38 mm Uni Jetstream and 0.5 mm Pilot Acroball, with both having blue ink. Thanks for the video JetPens!
Reading reviews that others have written, writing reviews for purchases I make, and my love of pens and paper makes comment writing a cinch! Thanks for the compliment Becca A and Hazel Macaraig!
Sakura Gelly Roll gel pens (specifically the ones with a shooting star and the "Gold" ones, I don't know what they're called) have really pretty ink and they're really smooth. They only come in one millimeter but all the Gelly pens are great for drawing little things because the ink flow is satisfyingly smooth and it's just _amazing._
The uniball jetstream is an absolute legend. I swear that pen is amazing. It writes so smooth, it dries so quickly and it looks so aesthetic. I need to buy more uniball jetstream refills
I wanted to see what the hype was about with this pen so I bought one off of jetpens website mainly because of the design. However it's the smoothest ballpoint pen I've used. I've been using my muji gel pens for notetaking forever but now I've been using my pink Uniball pen as well. Highly recommend!
@@ivanavalos3911 Final Thoughts and Reminders Historically, there has been a general preference (not legal requirement) towards blue ink. This is because blue ink easily distinguishes an original document. Black ink can be confused with a photocopy, especially over time as the ink fades. If there are instructions for a document to be signed in a specific color, those instructions should be followed. Parties are free to request that people sign in a certain color if they choose. Although the ink color is one factor, the most important element of a signature is the parties’ intention. Did each party intend to sign? If they did, the form of the signature (including the ink color) is usually irrelevant. Therefore, people can sign with gibberish and still be found to have genuinely signed the agreement. This means someone can’t get out of a contract just because they signed with a signature different from their own. The same goes for color.
Gel pens used to be my favorite to write with but now I absolutely love hybrid ink pens. I usually have no choice but to use low quality papers, and unlike most gel pens, hybrid ink won't bleed through.
Oh, I love my Fisher Space Pen. I've had it for years and actually the ink comes in other colors besides the standard blue, red or black. I have a turquoise refill in mine.
My favorite are roller ball pens. They work so smooth and require less pressure and I have to write almost everyday. They also make my handwriting better. However in some notebooks if the paper is thin or low quality they bleed through the page but then I just use notebooks which are suitable for them.
if i’m being honest, i’ve got at least 3 of each kind of pen in my case at all times. when taking notes i always go for my blue uni-ball vision elite rollerball for most of the writing (pretty much all the info, etc.) and my black paper mate inkjoy gel pen for the headings and dates (i also use it for the dashes when doing point form and any writing that involves having a colon after it). i’ll also sometimes use a purple paper mate inkjoy ballpoint pen for any key words or information. i did used to write everything in exclusively the black gel pen but then you find random pens when organizing and things change, and i’ve got more lying around that i still haven’t tried out; but truth be told if i did try them then i would have to get a whole other pencil case just to carry all my pens😅. it is nice to know the true difference between them and what they’re best suited for, and i might just buy some more rollerball and gel pens out of spite🤷♀️😂
I have tried a lot of pens and the Pentel EnerGel 0.7 is probably my favorite. The 0.5 writes quite nicely too, but the 0.7 on thicker bonded paper writes like a dream come true. I haven't found the uni pens to come close to how smooth the EnerGel writes.
A few years ago I had this amazing pen that wrote so smoothly and easily, and its ink was so thick and dark. I realize now that it was a rollerball (I think it was the same brand you show here). I love a good ballpoint or gel pen (Pilot G2 is one of my favorites), but I just don't think they can compare with the rollerball. I think my second favorite is a certain brand of ballpoint, which I don't know off the top of my head, but I like it because of the nice variety in line thickness you can get with it, almost like a pencil. I like sketching with it. But I think the rollerball deserves top place because it is just so unique. The ballpoint is lovely but you can get the same sort of effect and feeling with a pencil, a rollerball is more like a pen filled with paint. I have another rollerball now (I just looked at it, it says "roller ball" right on it!), but that one I had before was so much better. I think I might try to get a new one now.
I use a ball point for daily writing. I'm from India so most of the stuff here is still done by hand through writing. Students like me can go through 6-7 ballpoints in a month. Where as gel pens won't last last half as long. Roller balls r for exams and important stuff. Or for writing information that I need last a long time.
Bob Potato not really ball point pens in general (my definition of ballnpoint depends on how they relay on like the way this video differs them) are cheap
@@eeveegaming4798 ohhhh, i see what it means now. I meant they literally put holes through pockets if there's something pushing it down (like a hand, a particularly heavy phone or a wallet)
Then there's the fountain pen- expensive upfront but they save in the long-run as bottled ink is typically the price of a set of 2 rollerballs but will out last them by several times over. Fountains are also the smoothest writing being zero pressure come in whatever the ink you want and are also a discussion piece.
I love gel pens but want to try a rollerball pen. The Morning Glory sounds good as I am a lefty and feel more in control with a fine point. These videos are great. Very informative! I mean how else are you going to know about different kinds of pens? Packaging doesn’t tell you enough and can be misleading. And who wants to stand staring at a vast selection of pens at the store trying to decide which is best for you?!? Thank you JetPens!
For drawing use, ball pen is the best, to my surprise, the cheaper ones perform even better, cus the oil-ink is not ez to show deep black which means you could get extra shades by changing your pressure on it. Try it and you will be surprised.
Another disadvantage of the ballpoint pens is that ink gets even thicker in lower temperatures. My university had some old buildings that did get pretty cold in winter and ballpoints were very difficult to write with. Gel pens were life saviors. I think, Pentel ones were the most popular.
I found really comfortable writing my notes for school with ballpoint pens, my favorite was the uni jetstream in black 1.0 mm, but when I have time I love to use gel pens like pilot G-2 0.7mm which I think are great. I would love to try rollerball pens soon, and I think I will!
The pen companies are always coming out with better pens, I am getting confused. I come from the Bic Cristal ballpoint era, most people don't know how good they have it now. All we had was a choice of Black/ Blue/Red, now you have a 64 -box of crayon colors unimaginable at your grasps which is really cool. I am grateful for all the fun that I can have now with all these pens. I like taking a break and getting away from the keyboard and writing for a change.
I think I'm probably the only one, but my favorite will always be ballpoint pens. It's the feel I love. My second will have to be pilot frixion. I love the fact that I can erase my mistakes. And all the colors and tip sizes don't hurt either.
i love gel pens, they are so satisfying to watch and write with, especially how it displaces such an opaque and watery ink. But ballpoint pens just cant be replaced
I’m just gonna put this out there: If you’re a lefty and love gel pens, get the Pentel Energel. As a lefty, I LOVE it! It dries fast and doesn’t smear. Plus, it is sooo smooth to write with. It doesn’t break the bank either. It comes in different pen bodies as well so you have a lot of options. I LOVE IT!!!! Honestly, the whole Pentel Energel line is *chef’s kiss*
Not a lefty (and also pretty late lol), but the Energel is a great pen. I’m particular to the needle point tip. Probably one of my favorite pens of all time.
I’m Uni all the way since most every ink in their line is waterproof and archival. Jetstream- Best all around pen. Used for EDC and check writing. Vision Elite- long writing sessions and sketching. Power Tank- way better than Fisher Space pen for outdoor work with a variety of surfaces and and writing angles. Works great with Rite in Rain paper and Field Notes Expedition Paper. I can’t seem to get on board the gel pen train. When going from outside to inside temperatures and changes to barometric pressure gel pens have a tendency to ooze ink.
Pilot G2 1.0mm gel pens have been my go-to for many years. Their G2 minis are perfect for carrying in a pocket or glove box. Plus, the rainbow array of color options is great for color-coding tasks. With gel pens, I never have to "swirl test" to warm them up, they just work the first time, every time.
I like hybrid ink pens because they feel smoother to write with than regular ballpoint pens but don't take forever to dry (which I appreciate as a lefty). I do tend to use mechanical pencils more than I use pens though
As a student gel pens are a MUST since writing with them is very comfortable. Gel pens come in a variety of colours so it can be used to highlight words and lines if important. Keep in reminder that some gel pens take long to dry so might get smudge.
I love gel pens in general. They’re easy to write with and easy to find in most stores. My favorite low-cost, quick-to-find ones are the Pilot gel pens. They say Pilot G-2 07 on the clip.
The frixion pens are also wonderful for drawing on my embroidery projects! I erase my lines with a hair drier when the piece is done ❤️ I tend to reach for my rollerball pens for school.
Jetpens is the best STATIONARY channel on RUclips 😍!! Thanks for all of your videos !!😃😃Please make more videos on STATIONARY PRODUCTS and upload on every Tuesday !!! Pleeeeeeeese !!!🤗
My favourite kind of pen to write is the rollerball because it hurts less my hand. I use uni-ball eye micro myself. Despite of that I also have gel and ballpoint pens to adapt to other situations. In terms of colour availability in ballpoint pens, the best range I know is from BIC: there is a pack of fifteen different colours with 1,6mm tips (which might not please those who like a thinner writing). PaperMate hasn't this many colours but they have around ten different colours for their 1,0mm pens and the writing feel is incredibly smooth!
I am definitely a gel pen user. I have been using strictly gel pens from Muji that are mainly retractable at this point. However, I have some capped pens that are in various colours.
Thank you for this video!! I've been switching through a lot of my pens in frustration because /both/ of my wrists, arms, and shoulders are getting sore! I'm definitely going to try some rollerball pens!
Yet again, JetPens educates me. I did not know the differences between these products and it is fascinating to know. Thanks for providing quality content (and lovely stationery items, too!). Best to you.
Excellent video! As soon as I looked at the Uni-Ball Signo, I discovered the video didn't cover one crucial feature - retractability. I don't often lose pens, but the caps for non-retractable pens are a different matter. Many don't fit tightly, so they fall off easily.
My favorite pens are none of the above. Fountain pens. Great ergo because you don't have to use any pressure at all, it will write under it's own weight. All the colors in the world. A wide variety of tips including stubs and flex. Depending on the ink, waterproof, archival, fraud resistant etc. The only thing about them is they don't do so well on cheap paper, but even that you can make work by getting the finest nib you can and a ink that doesn't run as much. My pick is Noodler's X-Feather.
I use Ball point and prefer it over gel because it is pretty much impossible to write as fast as it is required for me. In India most of us are required to write extremely fast in higher education and gel pens just don't hold well there. Also after using roller ball and ball point for multiple years now gel pens also feel scratchy on paper. Although it looks pretty in med school you just can't care about how it looks
What is the best way to store the pens just mentioned? I like all the pens, the best features--smooth writing, great colors, fine point, easy to hold barrel. Thank you 😎🤗
My Uni-Jetstream pen is so messed up. I am unsure whether it is just my pen or all jetstreams but it skips a lot, doesn't look like real black, bleeds a bit and worst of all, it splodges everywhere.
What pen category does Faber-Castell fall under? My most favorite pen brand for some reason. Used several brands during my school life, yet Faber-Castell was my most consistent go-to pen.
Haven’t watched the vid yet but here are my ideas: I like rollerblade in long essays and stuff I like ball point on less professional items I keep to myself (i.e. notes or a to do list) I like gel pens on short things like letters Edit: spelling
I go with a fountain. Gel and roller balls still require some pressure where a fountain pen does not require any pressure. They also are smoother than anything else. Plus you have alit more inks to choose from and they're refillable without having to buy cartridges if you have a converter. So you're saving both money and saving the environment in the process.
I really like ball point pens for drawing/sketching, if you dont press too hard you can make a nice light color, just like how pencils do. Theyre nice if you want to practice drawing and you are trying to avoid erasing things in order to be more comfortable with mistakes. I found myself a really heavy ballpoint pen that was being sold in an antique store of sorts, it has a steampunk look to it. The tip of the pen resembles a bullet shell, you push the pen tip down via a little lever that slides through a J shaped hole instead of the typical I shaped hole. Im pretty sure the pen was made out of a bullet shell and it was just separated into 4 pieces and made longer via multiple adornments, one of which being a piece of resin or something of the sort with a loose swirl of the colors burgundy, black, and off white, interspersed with swirls of gold sparkles. Its a nice pen and i probably didn't need to describe it, but it made me happy to :)
i like rollerballs the best! pilot precise v5 is my favorite, the silver retractable ones feel very sturdy in the hand. i also like liquid gel pens, the pentel energel pearl writes significantly smoother and darker than the normal pentel energel. i think it's because the pearl is halfway between a gel pen and a rollerball, and i like that a lot too. another of my faves is the uni ball signo 207, which i believe is a rollerball/gel hybrid as well, but I'm not sure.
I have used the pilot v5 pen but sadly it broke almost instantly!!! So I switched to the uniball vision elite pen!!! These pens are the best!!! If you watch the video of jetpen " top 10 best roller ball pen " jet pen said that the uniball vision elite is the best roller ball pen!!! When I heard this I Immediately went to a pen store and bought UNIBALL vision elite pen and jet pens was right!!! It is the best rollerball pen!!!! UNIBALL VISION ELITE PEN RULE!!!!!!
I'm primarily a fountain pen user these days, but I keep a Uniball Signo 0.7 Gel in the car. My EDC is a Parker Jotter with a Gel refill. I'm not a fan of most traditional ballpoints. Exception being my Fisher Space pen. The pressurized refill alleviates most of the things I don't like about ballpoints like skipping and flow issues.
My list of when to use what pen: At anywhere and need to write something down, or you want lab rat pens, use a ballpoint pen. For everyday use, rollerball pen. For taking notes or need something to last, use a gel pen. For professional writing (i.e signing something or writing a comic book), use a fountain pen. And if you are in the 1700's, use a quill.
I have a pen called Pro X-Tank, not sure who makes it though. It is a roller ball that writes smooth as a Cadillac. I like to draw and doodle alot when I'm bored. My favorite to use the pen on is napkins, just something about how the ink takes to them. Of course they drink alot so they run out alot, but I refill mine. I have mastered the art of taking it apart, cleaning it and re supplying the ink. Call me crazy or whatever, but it is that good and worth it to ME.
I work in Quality for an automobile manufacturer. All Quality write-ups must be in red. We can use any brand or type of pen. as long as it is red. By far. the choice by my Quality co-workers is the Pilot G-2. The only real drawbacks to this pen I know of are it has a tendency to skip if there is any contamination on the paper and the ink disappears if left in direct sunlight for any amount of time. But this is caused by people leaving paperwork on the dash instead of the door pocket on the driver's side, where it is suppose to be placed. I love to write. I also have a Space Pen for my personal use.
Very informative video. Thank you. In my opinion, there is one more factor for writing comfort apart from the ink flow. That is the design of the barrel of the pen, how comfortable to grip with your fingers. This of course is very individual.

I love gel pens in general. They’re easy to write with and easy to find in most stores. My favorite low-cost, quick-to-find ones are the Pilot gel pens. They say Pilot G-2 07 on the clip.
Luckyyyy! I love gel pens but they are really hard to find where I live and they are really expensive online so I use zebra pens which have hybrid ink
I'm mostly a ballpoint user, but I absolutely love the Sakura gelly roll set, and the Sarasa line
Got myself a Uni Vision Elite in 0.5mm today! Thank you! i never thought i could love a pen....
The frixion pens are also wonderful for drawing on my embroidery projects! I erase my lines with a hair drier when the piece is done ❤️
I tend to reach for my rollerball pens for school.
Jetpens is the best STATIONARY channel on RUclips 😍!! Thanks for all of your videos !!😃😃Please make more videos on STATIONARY PRODUCTS and upload on every Tuesday !!! Pleeeeeeeese !!!🤗
Love these informative videos. I used to be a felt tip person but I’m slowly moving towards the gel pen fraternity.
This was very interesting. Thank you
I am definitely a gel pen user. I have been using strictly gel pens from Muji that are mainly retractable at this point. However, I have some capped pens that are in various colours.
Hey @JetPens, could you make a video on a Every Day Carry (EDC)
The fountain pen is my primary tool. Rollerball is my second or back up.
Thank you for this video!! I've been switching through a lot of my pens in frustration because /both/ of my wrists, arms, and shoulders are getting sore! I'm definitely going to try some rollerball pens!
you could also try a Fountain pen but it may be a hassle for you a Lamy safari is where I would start as it is where i started
@@FM_0555 Thank you for the tips! I'll look into that!
I love gel pens a lot, however, I also like to use hybrid ballpoint pens. I love your videos a lot. Keep continuing :)
Yet again, JetPens educates me. I did not know the differences between these products and it is fascinating to know. Thanks for providing quality content (and lovely stationery items, too!). Best to you.
I haven't learned this much in one short YT vid in awhile. Thanks!
Gel pens can be messy if you touch the ink after you write on the paper
Excellent video! As soon as I looked at the Uni-Ball Signo, I discovered the video didn't cover one crucial feature - retractability. I don't often lose pens, but the caps for non-retractable pens are a different matter. Many don't fit tightly, so they fall off easily.

As a student, I drop my pens a lot. Which pens are the best to use in order to avoid the pen from having the ink skipped or stopped?
Fountain pens all the way through. A Pilot brand fan.
I prefer ballpoint pens. But I like jel pens, rollerball pens, hybrid pens.
I don't want to miss anything.
y’all comparing pens while I’m using the fountain pen like a chad
VO: It even writes upside down.
Jerry: All I said was I liked the pen!
This video showed me how much faster I write and how untidy my handwriting is
RUclips recommendations has done it again
I would like to see how to refill a fountain pen and what inks are the best. Thanks, and greetings from Nova Scotia.😁
We actually have a video on refilling fountain pens here: ruclips.net/video/dNSOyoGlfug/видео.html
Haven’t watched the vid yet but here are my ideas:
I like rollerblade in long essays and stuff
I like ball point on less professional items I keep to myself (i.e. notes or a to do list)
I like gel pens on short things like letters
Edit: spelling
I only use paper mate gel pens. I love these and have hundreds all in black.
See you in a few years when this is recommended again
I mostly love ballpoint for its ability to make very, very good off topic drawings
Honestly, me being left-handed, the quicker the ink dries, the better. My hand rubs against the ink while I write.
Learn to write Arabic, LOL. I'm left-handed too.

From the part of India where I live, most buy the cheapest one in the shop
Same here in Mexico, pretty much everyone uses Bic.
My favorite is rollerball and gel pens, but the expensive refills put them out of budget. I usually use a fountain pen. I love JetPens, great service!
The RUclips algorithm decided I needed to know this now
I really like ball point pens for drawing/sketching, if you dont press too hard you can make a nice light color, just like how pencils do.
I love gel pens when they dry otherwise I have an ink hand~ left handed people 2020
My fav is fountain 🖋️ . It writes smooth, and all you need is an ink bottle and tomoe river paper!
i like rollerballs the best! pilot precise v5 is my favorite, the silver retractable ones feel very sturdy in the hand.
i also like liquid gel pens, the pentel energel pearl writes significantly smoother and darker than the normal pentel energel.
i think it's because the pearl is halfway between a gel pen and a rollerball, and i like that a lot too.
another of my faves is the uni ball signo 207, which i believe is a rollerball/gel hybrid as well, but I'm not sure.
Those 9 dislikes are people who hate writing
Tori Keira it is 18 now
I work in Quality for an automobile manufacturer.
I love Gel Pens but I'm left-handed so they always smudge.
So, sad..
Get the zebra pens
I just love watching this type of video without long introduction and informative ❤️
Well...my nearby stationery shop sells at least 12 kind of colours in ballpoint pen 🙄
For me ball point any color
Best pens for pen spinning next, please!
I don’t know why I’m here and you don’t know why your here either
Don’t lie
Very informative video. Thank you. In my opinion, there is one more factor for writing comfort apart from the ink flow. That is the design of the barrel of the pen, how comfortable to grip with your fingers. This of course is very individual.
