  • This is an excerpt from Part 1 of Danny Graham's interview with Leonard Marshall.
NY Giants legend Leonard Marshall talks about the turbulent time period for the Giants when head coach Bill Parcells, after winning his second Super Bowl with NYG, resigned in May 1991 due to health issues and left the team in the hands of offensive coordinator Ray Handley. The result was a two year drought where the Giants won only 14 games and numerous debacles and internal fights plagued the Super Bowl XXV champions.

George Young was arrogant. Belichick's personality was aloof and strange. LT frequently states that Young and the Giants ownership blew that big time, and Belichick should have been the coach.

You can put that one on the Giant GM, George Young...

Horrible choice at head coach. They could have gone to Al Groh, Romeo Crennel or others if Belichick and Coughlin already left town.

B.B. was never going to be the Giant H.C. while Young was the G.M. there...

They could have made Ron Erhardt head coach over Handley. At least Ron had previous head coach experience
