There is so much to like in this video, it's impossible to decide what i like best. The video is great, filmed by someone that can work a camera correctly. The model is great, beautiful to look at, and flies like a full size one. The INSIDE of the model at the very start of the video was most impressive, the construction alone is worth seeing, the finished flying model is an added bonus, i would have struggled to cover that airframe up, it's just so gorgeous naked....but, having said all that, i think the most impressive thing about this video is the poor crippled pilot, how brave is he ??, after such an impressive display in the first half of the video, at 1:39 you can see him BRAVELY being helped into the cockpit to go out and do it again....what a trooper, especially being paraplegic like that, needing to be lifted into the seat, unable to walk on his own and all....how embarrassing.......
Oh to be a few months old again! I'd say strap me in dad. I'm inspired. Just working my way into lage scal now. Those bib 4 cylinder 2 strokes sound bloody good!
Wonderful scale flying, I love to see that! Looks like it lands a bit fast, though :P The hover took away a little bit of the "real" feeling, but I'm sure I would have tried it as well.
I would really like to know how much this Pitts weighed ready to fly. The 222 looks like it is doing a really good job. I have a build going on right now and I am desperate to find just the right power plant. Knowing what your weight is would help me make that ultimate decision. As a side note, my son has one on a PAU 43% Edge 540. We should be posting maiden videos by the end of March.
Rob Epley sorry, but Uwe's answer was not 100% correct. My Prometheus (the plane in this video) went threw lots of modifications during her live. The 2011 config you see here was the heaviest one (26.2kg). With different Prop, new wing design and reduced weight I gained lots of performance, you can see that on another newer video Uwe created from my Prometheus here on RUclips
Hah ! Now that is funny ! Would be interesting to know how many hours were logged through the design and build... the cost of materials as well.. ? Obviously some 'mad skills' involved in both the construction and the piloting... Outstanding!!
Klasse Model. Super geflogen! Ich weis nur nicht was mir besser gefällt. Das Modell oder der junge Pilot? Da bin ich ja mal auf den Bericht gespannt. Auf jeden Fall ein tolles Video Uwe.
The 222cc engine is not causing the high weight. This Pitts was designed and build for the typical Pitts Style aerobatics and to get this you need a higher wingload as you normaly have on modern 3d aerobatic constructions, and as you see it works perfectly. The weight comes from the massive solid construction and lots of scale details. Normaly she pulls out of hover, slow but she does, don't know why I head less power at the day we took this video.
Time was about 800h of building. But the Airplane is never finished and a work in progress. Right now I'm building a new set of wings like the new one on Skips Prometheus. And yes, Skip knows about it and supported me with many pics and measurements.
Obviously many hours of thought and preparation went into it before even cutting the first piece.. your passion for the plane is apparent in every detail. I believe it will be a long time before we see another as well built and as beautiful as yours.. be proud.
That is by FAR the best scale built Pitts ever and best scale aerobatics I have ever seen!
I sure would love to buy a set of the plans you made for this model. Beautiful workmanship and outstanding, realistic flying qualities. Bravo!

If I didnt know any better, I'd think Skip Stewart himself was piloting this aircraft! Excellent flying!
that is one of the best rc planes i have ever seen, great job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love it man
It's like I'm watching Skip Stewart's routine scaled down a bit, nice flight!
Wow - a VERY beautiful plane, and very nice flying, too. Nice work!
Was this a prototype DLE 222? The crank case looks very different.
Perfekter Nachbau und super geflogen! Tolle Kombination aus Pilot und Maschine! Glückwunsch, gefällt mir sehr gut!

Do you plan to add a Skip Stewart pilot figure in the cockpit?? I hope so!!
If that kid can fly like that now, imagine what he will do when he grows up
Oh to be a few months old again! I'd say strap me in dad.

Hi Rob, the weight is nearly under 25 kg :-)
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

Very cool... so do you feel the 222 will fly a 50 percent Hempel Edge?
What is the weight? Throttle sounded almost wide open in the hover at 1:30 mark and it wasn't really holding the hover, it was dropping.
And to think I´ve been near the real thing!! The flying style is almost identical!! very very nice.
Skip Stewart is it you haha nice flight very nice Modell 🤘🏽
wooow coool....friend can u pls tell me what is the weight of airframe without engine ?
Oh i'am sorry, i have no informations about that :-(
are you flying with the little kid inside , Thats verry cool !
That's a serious machine.looks like a perfect match for the little guy.
Awesome!! What kit is it? Where did you purchase it from
It is no kit, it was scrached built by Patric Leis.
Hah !
Now that is funny !
Would be interesting to know how many hours were logged through the design and build... the cost of materials as well.. ?
Obviously some 'mad skills' involved in both the construction and the piloting... Outstanding!!
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL SOUNDS LOOKS AND PERFORMS JUST BEAUTIFUL
FANTASTIC !! Congratulations !!
Klasse Model. Super geflogen! Ich weis nur nicht was mir besser gefällt. Das Modell oder der junge Pilot? Da bin ich ja mal auf den Bericht gespannt.
Auf jeden Fall ein tolles Video Uwe.
So I'm guessing babies are about 1/4 to 1/3 scale? :P

Now I get it! the baby at 1:40 was flying the plane the whole time!
