What do you think of the controller upgrade for Rad Power Bikes? Support Ebike Escape when purchasing from Rad Power Bikes: radpowerbikes.pxf.io/1rmzzD (affiliate link)
It's quite a transformation! Installing on the RW looks slightly more straightforward than on my RR1, the connector for the screen is routed through the frame, and has a nasty habit of getting stuck in the frame, and takes FOREVER to fish out again. It's worth taping over the connectors to stop them popping out again.
I installed it in my Rad Runner and was pleasantly surprised! I now have easily twice the power and can fly up ANY hill! It's also nice to know you have the power to quickly cross the street before 'Christine' shows up to try and run you over! Looking forward to your next video, keep up the good work!
I didn't know there was that much controller room on the RadWagon. If I had that, I install both controllers and switch back to the Rad controller for quiet times and efficiency. The 35 amp controller is pretty efficient though.
G'day! Thank you. Very well done. I'm considering a controller replacement for my (orange) RadWagon4, 3 1/2 years old, 2500 miles. The front and rear lights have stopped working. Not looking for increased power, but it'd be nice I suppose. You give me confidence.
So I ordered this, and it sure does add some juice to the bike, but it seems to have almost immediately fried two pedal assist sensors in a row. Am I just unlucky, or do the settings have to be changed before even giving it a test ride? Any info from any knowledgeable person greatly appreciated!
Bought the electro bike world setup and it came quickly and installed easily.. Fair warning the support bracket for the display and the power assist control / power switch very sketchy. Both broke when I tightened their mounting screws. Might be user error but I doubt it.
@@33spada we are going to have to wait on the settings video since we're still dialing it in but if you email me I can send you a picture of the current settings. Ryan at ebikeescape
It's not a ''Bolton upgrade kit'', it's a ''Kuteng controller kit''. I just got a new version of LCD8H and a 40A sine controller for 130$, saved 100$, thank you very much. And I don't even speak Chinese.
good idea to keep the old controller so if you need to make a warranty claim you may be able to convince you are using stock when you burned out the motor. also so if the upgrade controller dies you have a fallback replacement so you are not stuck without an ebike.
Hi Rasmus, I *believe* so but head on over to the forum and do a search: radowners.com I just tend to pay a little less attention to the intricacies of the differences on EU models. Thanks for your comment and watching.
I don't think my brother would do the motor upgrade unless the motor were to burn out. I don't expect this to happen and the controller alone is such a significant improvement. No Tannus video in the works but I did put those liners on my older RadWagon and a dual motor fat tire ebike. Thanks for watching!
Hi, great vid ! I dig your installation, very clean, my controller hangs with zip ties...;) Have you planned to upgrade to the true 750w motor ? It's unclear if it's a direct plug & play from the current wheel (like for other rad bikes)
Thats ugly installation - sorry but the controller should have the connections coming out the right end not doubling back on itself. Sorry I appreciate you video?
If you have suggestions for a cleaner installation I'm all ears. As I mentioned in the video it is not yet permanent. We wanted to test it first to make sure there weren't any issues.
I think it’s pretty genius...considering you could install a second battery directly on top of the wood pretty effortlessly. Although instantly with the wood I thought ventilation might be a problem for the controller depending on how you mounted it. If that were an issue you could always put in a spacer or something.

Where is the second part of this video, i cant find it?

Awesome! The difference really is drastic.
I am going to do this to my radwagon 4 after warranty is up. Appreciate the video.
That was my brother's intention to wait until the warranty was up but we got antsy :) Thanks for watching!

That's not a bad idea! We were really happy that it just worked out of the box.
Well 1year warranty is up going to doing the upgrade. Thanks again for the video
Glad to help - thanks for the comment.

You defs can change them on the up and down settings
Can you use the throttle on PAS 0 like you can with a stock rad bike?
I have the 2015 Radwagon. Will this work with my bike?

Good to know, thanks!
Hello just installed my Bolton on RW. What are your settings? What a huge difference out of the gate
Hey Brian, I'll try to share them in the next video because we were playing around with them a bit.
@@EbikeEscape when is vid coming. 👍🙏🏻

Where did you buy it? Link?
does the headlight also plug into the main cable in front or is there a separate wire to the controller?
Sorry I'm not sure at the moment. If you ask on the forum I'm sure someone could help: radowners.com
How does rim, spokes, chain and all the drivetrain react to this?
No issues so far but this is a "do it at your own risk" type modification. Check out the Rad owners forum for more from others who have done this.
Nice one - enjoy you upgraded bike and thanks for the video
Glad you enjoyed it!
This might be a silly question, but when you swap controllers does the odometer reset? Or does it transfer over somehow?
Yes it does
is the same engine bafang in Rad wagon US and EU?
Eu version is limited on 250w or not? Can be upgradet speed on EU version on US.? Tnx for info
I can't confirm this but check out the forum, there are certainly some threads that will help you out: radowners.com

also so if the upgrade controller dies you have a fallback replacement so you are not stuck without an ebike.
Yeah definitely from a fallback perspective. Though I think if the motor died we'd put in a 750 watt nominal motor so it doesn't happen again.
Did you use the stock configuration that the controller comes with or did you needed to change anything for the RadWagon?
For a bit but then my brother adjusted them. Check out this video: ruclips.net/video/fsbcY91alf0/видео.html
Thanks for the video. I purchased the RadRunner Plus using your link
Thanks so much Deian - really appreciate the support.
Would this upgrade work on the European version of the RadWagon?
Hi Rasmus, I *believe* so but head on over to the forum and do a search: radowners.com

Definitely, I've done it to my 2020 radwagon (in France). Looking to upgrade to the "true" 750w motor now :)
What are the correct controller settings?
Hey Todd - shoot me an email and I can send you a photo. Ryan @ ebikeescape.com

Does this make your bike go faster or have more Twork

Less so on the top speed but more power to tackle hills. Check out our performance video ruclips.net/video/3k_Y-cgNKKQ/видео.html
So would you do motor upgrade at some point? (For radwagon 4). Also maybe a tannus armor video.

How can I order a painted “wood board version 2”? Haha
Ha! That might a one of a kind build ;)
Nice video!
Maybe set the bike up on a table next time? My back hurts watching you.

@@heidihevener3144 Good point, and now the install looks even better.
@@heidihevener3144 how would you go about adding a second battery? Would you just swap the cable when the first one dies?
