Wow! I own a E500 bought by myself 18 years ago and a E1 bought on ebay, mint condition except a couple of strange little drops in the viewfinder that don't affect images though... A lot of fun to shoot, E1 is truly a great and yet simple camera
Just got an E-1. It seems the mode dial is broken, when I turn it to M, S or A the camera still thinks it's in P mode. It doesn't seem to hard to take the top plate off. I'll check it tomorrow and I hope it's fixable.
Yeah top plate removal isn't too bad and if you can get a parts E-1 it should be a pretty straightforward swap the only tricky screw for the top plate that there is 1 I believe under the grip material near the shutter. Otherwise it lifts off and the connecters are pretty chunky flatflex cables. Goodluck!
Ah yeah it would an awesome skill to pick up. I have been able to do some cleaning on simpler lens assemblies! Good luck to you if you start that journey!

Ah that sucks about the spots! Hopefully it isn't too annoying. If it's just under the focusing screen you might be able to use a q-tip or blower to remove them! Otherwise I'm glad you are enjoying the E-1!
@@Mr50mmish Thanks for the kind reply! It's weird, I don't know how to access the focusing screen... If you don't mind I can DM you with some pictures, for sure you know much more than me as you're not afraid to dismount cameras!! 😅 Thanks again
Oh I'd have a look here there is a prepared guide by one of the focusing screen manufacturers. www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=www.katzeyeoptics.com/files/install3.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjTl4mbu8yHAxVzMVkFHdG_Aq4QFnoECB8QAQ&usg=AOvVaw0Qpwg2OCqFXhHDy1_KA1oZ
@@Mr50mmish That's interesting, makes sens... those drops happend changing the lens, maybe some spills or rain went inside the camera on that screen: not that easy though, anywai thanks again!

You have more patience than me!
Haha it wasn't too bad to do this particular repair. About 1 hr from the first unscrewed screw to the last rescrewed one!
I like your taste in music :)
Thanks!

Thanks! I couldn't wait, opened up the camera and fixed the button with super glue, now I can choose all the modes.
@@icecreammm2 awesome! Always good to hear of a successful repair!

There's is 'this one great trick' that I use.
I get my lenses and some of my cameras that way. Holy hell, the prices of damaged and straight up trash condion gear on the rise.
Yeah generally prices are going up sadly :(
