Great video good start to France trip thanks for sharing 😊
Half day closing. I remember those days in the Uk. Carol’s French is far better than my grade 2 CSE. Big old wood pile. Yep. It would have been us out there walking the dogs in the rain.
People would faint in the UK if the shop closed for lunch 😁👍
Looking forward to this French trip and enjoyed that wander. Fab food as always. Yummy! 😊👍🏻
Thanks for watching. Hope you are well. Missing your videos ☺️❤️
@@LifeistooshortCK Bless you and thank you, I’m good. I’ve just sold my house (faster than expected!) and things are a little full on at the moment. Still managed to get the next vlog done though and will put it out on Sunday. Take care both ❤️ x
@@CamperVanya congrats on selling your house. Look forward to watching on Sunday 🙂
Great video again guys
Cheers Davy 🙂👍
The church in Armentiere is stunning. What glass!
The pastries in the trailer looked AMAZING!
Well done Carol with the French - impressed.
Nice Speed app to make things easy for you
France looks a chilled place to tour can’t wait
Well we hope you like it as much as us when you get there 😁👍
Armentières is famous for a very popular World War 1 song: 'Mademoiselle from Armentières' 'Inky Pinky Parlez Vous,' which had a number of risqué versions. I don't think the shops were closed because of half day closing - it was lunch hour - it is common for many small shops to close in France between 12 and 2pm on week days.
Thanks for the info and I know that song 😁🫣
Good afternoon Carol & Ken, taking a quick moment to leave you a comment and a like because we often forget to do this for you!! And that’s naughty of us because we have watched all your videos and love it when a new one pops up. We find your videos relaxing, very David Attenborough esq 😊. You are an inspiration and thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Amy Paul & Ted 🐾 xx
Thanks guys, glad you enjoy the videos 🙂👍
Thanks really enjoy your Vlogs. Thank you for all your hard work you bring a lot of people a lot of pleasure. Much better than the tv.
Thanks Carole, that is very kind of you. We appreciate the SuperThanks ❤️
As usual yummy food, and fun ! ❤️
Without seeing the rest of the series, and knowing that you had to cut short your last French trip,I’d like to recommend a restaurant for the next time you travel back from France via Eurotunnel. In Cité d’Europe there is a food hall with several restaurants. We ourselves are limited to places with an « indoor terrace » as we have a dog. But we have found an excellent place called 3 Brasseurs. It’s actually a restaurant run by a micro brewery ( I know you don’t really drink but…). The speciality of the area is a dish called FLAMMEKUECHE which is a sort of very thin crust pizza, but they serve all sorts including burgers and fish and chips. The servings are generous and you can ask for a doggie bag (yes, it’s’ now done in France). Last time we were there (October ‘22) there was a party of people on a coach outing, and there is always a queue for a table for a group after 8pm though it doesn’t usually take long, so a sign of a great value place to eat. The beer is excellent and they speak English and can advise on the beers etc. Plenty of free parking, as I’m sure you know. It’s a great way to spend your last evening in France.
Sounds a nice place. Thanks for the tip. We like that pizza 👍
I'm going to to France with my little self converted Nissan NV200 from Stockholm where I live. Planning on leaving within the next few days. Will be away for about 3 weeks. Your travels in France has been an inspiration. Thank's!
Have a great trip Stefan ❤️👍
The food looked lovely 😊
I love hearing your banter. It looks like a nice time….so far! Mary
Thanks Mary 🙂
Great video thanks
Love the piano music..!
Well done both good luck 👍👍👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
Always a joy for me to watch you travelling and eating 😊. This video is no exception. Take care
Glad Carol and I agree on the smell from the Venice canals . Great vlog both , thank you .
wow Carol's excellent French
I am proud of her 😁👍
Thanks , always love to see different parts of France as we often visit there too.
Keep on making your charming & insightful videos. Regards Stuart and Nick
Thanks Stuart & Nick, the SuperThanks is much appreciated ❤️
Great vid Carol & Ken Look forward to next one 😁
Thanks to you both
Thanks so much 🙏
Your comments in regards to what service men and women went through reminded me of a former colleague (first proper job) who was a tail gunner in a Lancaster sadly the younger generation don't realise what people like him went through for their freedom.
The meal looked great not sure of the fish though, I really enjoy watching your videos for the scenery and history.
Ken having the visual and audible alarm is great it is fitted as standard in my built in GPS so no excuse for speeding,
It’s amazing what can be endured when fighting for a common cause. 👍
Those church windows are gorgeous! ❤️💚💙💛💜 And that oriental french food was so posh! 😂 Lovely video, thank you very much! ❤
Another breath of fresh air keep up the great site ❤
Cheers 👍

Sorry to hear about the delay on the VW... hope news comes through very soon. As ever, a joy to watch you explore some places that others most likely drive by. YAM xx
Thanks YAM. We are just happy to still have the little red camper so we can still travel while we wait for the new van 😀
Thank you for sharing an interesting and amusing video.... Hope you soon hear news about the new van!!!!
I hope so too!
Yes we did enjoy the video but we enjoyed looking at the cakes more. Shame we couldn't taste them.
Great episode both! Well Done Carol using your French, brilliant! Never been abroad in my van, need to take the plunge and give it a go!
Thanks Josh. Yes definitely give it a go. France is very campervan friendly 🙂👍
Sounds brilliant. On the list for next year! Thank you! 👍
❤❤❤❤
Vous vous débrouillez très bien en français, bravo Carol!
Merci beaucoup. Vous êtes très gentille ❤️
Another quiet Sunday morning with a cuppa tea 🍵 and dunking biscuits 😋 watching a thoroughly laid back vlog of your escapades 😊 gotta say thst lemon cake looked bloody delicious 😋 😍 yacan tell can't you i gave a sweet tooth 😂 hope all is we'll with you both? What has happened to summer?????? More like Autumn here in North West England 🙄🙄🙄
Yes its been a bit up and down here as well 👍
Loving the videos Carol & Ken. Re your speedo, is that not KPH in smaller text underneath the MPH? Safe travels 👍
Yes but I struggle to read that smaller text and prefer keeping my eyes on the road. The large text of the app is perfect
Did you ever work out the weird French opening hours? Thanks for more of your adventures ! ❤
No, it is still a mystery 😅
Another brilliant video, thank you. I'm inspired to improve my French, not used for years, so that we're ready for a campervan trip to France, will need to get a new passport too😊 Fingers crossed you get some good news soon on the building of your new Transporter xxx
Thanks Janet. Nothing better for learning a foreign language than immersing yourself in that country ☺️
@@LifeistooshortCK absolutely, we both became reasonably fluent in Italian a long time ago, since neglected, as is our French, as we might just go to Brittany in our Bilbo one summer soon, I'm going to follow in Carol's footsteps and revisit my French language skills, and try not to get confused with Italian 🇫🇷🇮🇹😀🚐
Hi Ken and Carol. Hope all is well.
We are good Larry hope all is well with you 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK doing fine thanks.
Another good video👍 you would get prosecuted in uk for exercising a dog while riding a bike. We had a chap in the village prosecuted for animal cruelty and banned from having animals for 5 years I think
I have seen quite a few on bikes with dogs. All the ones I have seen though have been running free.
Lying in bed as usual watching your latest exploits when you only went and did it... All that food. Honestly, if we'd have had any bacon in the fridge. I'd have got out of bed and cooked up a butty... My stomach was growling!! 😁🐕🚙
There is nothing worse than craving a bacon butty with no bacon in the Fridge. 😁👍
Luckily Carol speaks french. I always wanted to visit France and the food, but are worried that they do not speak english that much. Here in Norway we do have some english immigrants. They struggle to learn norwegian because so many of us speak english...
In tourist areas you will have no problem. If you need assistance for anything outside those places then some basic French goes a long way.
On our last Ferry crossing to France Carol was in a queue for breakfast with a Frenchman serving. The lady in front spoke quite rudely in English to him and got nowhere. Carol spoke French and he couldn’t do enough for her. 😁👍
Can I ask a question, is there a reason why you drive into a stopover instead of backing into it, I’ve been so use to backing in mainly for a quick exit I suppose that I was curious. Loveing your trips. Thank you. Cheers Judy from Australia.
It just depends on how I feel about the place when we arrive. If I have any concerns I would either move on or park facing out 👍
Hi Ken & Carol. Great video, could you tell me the name of the app you used for the speed limit? Thank you
apps.apple.com/gb/app/speedometer-55-pro-gps-kit/id530829008
Thank you
Ken, was that Live Streaming you were watching in the van or a DVD ?
Live youtube
Did Carol learn french in school? And how does she practice to remember?
Yes but she also uses Duo Lingo every day to practice 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK I just started using that app, trying to learn
so is the bread as good as everyone makes it out to be in France?
Without a doubt. The French eat very well 👍
Was the tagine a little exotic for your taste buds ?
nope
Did you say, £90 to park overnight???
I adore chocolate, but not Nutella??? No flavors, just dint work for me 😂😂😂😂😂
Couldn’t find the reference to £90 to park overnight in this video I’m afraid.
Chicken doughnut yet?
Not yet 😁👍
Hi Carol and Ken. I am interested in the part of this video from 13:23 on, re the RAF crew. Can you give me an approx location so as to visit. I am a member of the Flight Eng Association, we always look out for exactly this. Thanks.
Hi Ian. The What 3 Words location is recording.incorporates.potted The address is Place Amaury de La Grange 59190 Morbecque France 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK Thanks very much, will take motorhome there and check it out
Have sent you an email to your address in About.
Wow, you guys eat well 😂, it all looked very nice though.
Outside urinals?🫣 No.
They are still common and in use in France 😁👍
