I know a lot of very pretentious people like to crap on people going to McDonald's when they're in other countries, but i think it's great, it gives you a real opportunity to compare things and get a quick and cheap idea of some of that countries tastes/preferences. Sure, go to other places as well, but you're not going to have any direct comparison for what they serve as the same dish at multiple restaurants in the same country will be different, but you know that all McDonald's in a country will taste the same/have the same menu.
The American couple and their lovely dog who made this huge trip around Europe done so with nothing but respect, understanding and willingness to learn about different European cultures. The videos were fab you came to my home city of Durham my Dads hometown of Saltburn by the Sea and much much more . If they fancied a Big Mac and wished to compare them with American Big Macs and other European Big Macs so what ???? They tried every possible local food they could and to eat in swanky restaurants every night you’d need to be a few dollars behind Jeff Bezos !!!!!!! It must of been a very expensive trip . I adore their live of the UK and thing’s British. I’m really happy our great American cousins when they say they enjoyed their time in the UK .
Who knew there could be such a vast range of different things on offer in each country from McDonalds. I've learnt something new today. Thanks for sharing this video and trying out all the different savoury, spicy, plant based and sweet things.
I do the same when I travel abroad. I had soup and beer at McDonald’s in Portugal! They also have little bottles of olive oil and vinegar for your fries.
I was going to ask, as i can't remember from your time here in the UK, if you ever tried Wimpy? I noticed Jeremy talk about a burger on a brown bun, which is a Wimpy thing. If you never tried it, when you're back here, i recommend it if you can find one. Unfortunately a lot of them have closed, but they used to be everywhere in the 90s. I think they're actually an American company originally, but they're thought of as being very British here, unlike McDonalds you actually get table service and things served on real plates with cutlery. On top of the normal burgers etc... You can also get a cooked English Breakfast and i'm not sure if they still do it, as the ones near me are long gone, but they used to do a desert, called something like a brown betty or derby, and i remember it being a ring doughnut with fudge sauce and ice cream, it was amazing! I looked forward to it endlessly as a child. Wimpy used to be the only fast food place my Gran would take me, as it had the plates and cutlery, lol.
@@lindaevans8044 Defo love a Wimpy burger...I think there's only a few still open. I used to repair the coffee machine for the Wimpy owner in Peterborough about 20 years ago, he always offered me food once the job was finished, of course, it would have been rude to say no ! 🤔😝
20:12 I think the different shapes are there so the staff can easily recognise between the patties, they have a few different types. I believe in Burger King a while back the wavy one was an Angus beef burger :)
We were travelling 24 hours straight and next door to our Strasburg Ibis hotel was a Mcdonald's. No brainer as we were dead tired. We tried everything local the rest of the trip but grabbed beers from downstairs and ate.
My first experience of McDonald's was in Germany in 1983 as it would be another two years before Leeds got its first restaurant. I had a McRib which I liked. Sadly, within 6 months of opening in Leeds, the McRib disappeared forever.
McDonalds in Europe is better, less crappy ingredients we use in the USA. I was in the UK earlier last month and I was happy to eat there. It was more affordable than eating in California.
Hello Cara and Jeremy. I toured Europe aged 17, turning 18 under the Eiffel Tower. McDonalds was a cheap and quick way to get food on the go to help budget for the good stuff from local restaurants when we had chance. I read a response where you said the same, only in our trip we just had standard burgers, which differed hardly at all. Pity there is no international chain of decent fish and chip outlets with curry sauce of course.
My wife, who lived in Paris for some time many decades ago, said that the French (in typical french fashion) didn't care for McDs coming to their country - so they setup Quik burger. You should try (if you haven't already) that place and compare to McDs :)
The Maestro fox felix cheesee has Chanterelle in it whitch is fox mushroom in hungarian. If i remember correctly there was one maestro burger with foie gras in it.
It's been quite a few years since i ate McDonalds but i know it used to be the case that the monopoly here, in the UK, gave you sometimes an instant win and sometimes a board piece. Then i remember they started to reduce the number of menu items that gave you pieces, originally if you got a meal all three items would give you pieces. They also reduced how many pieces each item gave you. Then i think they stopped making the pieces be stickers that you stuck onto a special paper “monopoly board” you'd get from them. Then they moved to it being a thing on the app, so i don't know how much it's changed from that in the few years since i last got McD's.
For a while McDonalds sold Pizzas in the UK, apparently they are doing them again in Florida, and they come and go in various locations. It's probably the rarest item to find if you want to try all their weird products...
The one thing I missed from McDonald’s from our from home yeah the wrap they got a discontinued about like 2015 or 16 I think I had to go all the way to Canada or the UK disappointing
My family always have bad stomach issues if we eat from Macdonald's. We avoid it like the plague. We love Burger King, on our rare visits to fast food 'restaurants'. The bun isnt full of preservatives. The burgers are meaty and tasty ( unlike the dry MCDONALDS burgers) Tomatoes and onions are, obviously, prepared on the premises and are tasty and recognisable!! Unlike the dry, tiny onion bits at McD.
Come to Asia and you’ll see even stranger McDs offerings. Like the Ebi (shrimp) burger to start with or a Thai burger. And no McDonalds in the world gives you fries packed the way they do in the McDonalds of Japan. Most McDonalds give you these half deflated packs of fries whereas McDonalds in Japan those fry packets are stuffed to the max. Like you couldn’t fit even one more fry into that packet. I personally find that the McDonalds of the UK are really not holding up their end at all.
Good evening how are you? New subscriber from London, United Kingdom & I love watching your videos. Glad you guys enjoyed traveling here to UK & hope you come back here soon!! Hope you guys enjoyed fast food restaurants even McDonalds here in UK which serves something different than what you have there in North America! Great video & take care.
The thing i always have to do is to try other nations mcdonalds as i love how each nation add their own twist onto menu items its also the same with KFC
The German adjective for „nearly“ , „almost“ or „closely“ is „fast“ (with a short vowel). So there is this joke that „fast food“ could be translated as „close to food“.
No! the rolls are white wheat bread... but just backed more/hotter to make them brown... no brown bread rolls. All Mac Dorf food, especially burgers, look like chewed up and regurgitate food when you lift up the top of the bun to look inside... it all looks so 🤢.
I recommend the McDonald's in Las Vegas. You've got the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, Venice, the Colosseum, the Pyramids. All without the inconvenience and the discomfort of having to navigate another culture. And let's face it, it's no less inauthentic than the typical overseas sightseeing tour experienced from the comfort of a sanitized English-speaking bubble and the McDonald's and Irish Bars we flock to
Those fries look like someone puked them up. 🤢 When you lift up the bun you realise that the burgers look nothing like the photos and how awful McDonalds food really is.
I've been to McDonald's in several countries, only really as a quick snack of desperation but France was the worst I've had. Burger king is better there.
McDonald's used to be good years ago here in the UK. I've pretty much stopped buying Maccies except the occasional sausage n egg mcmuffin and a coffee, it's a lottery as to whether the food is hot n fresh and as for mcdelivery, forget it !! Stone cold by the time you get it. I think they are trying to do too much, the car parks are full of delivery drivers vehicles, two lane drive thru's that clog up and bottle neck after the ordering point, even if you go in-store the food is rarely hot. Not wasting my money with this brand anymore. I don't like the brioche buns they now use either. What a moaning git I am lol !!
Why on earth would anybody travelling around European cities want to visit McDonald's to eat the rubbish they offer when there are so many really decent restaurants all around them?
Why are you so bothered by people trying McDonalds for lunch in different cities? It's not like they ate breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and supper there every day.
To save money when I'm away I have a proper restaurant meal in the evening and then something cheap and quick for lunch(or the other way round) McDonalds is the perfect quick and cheap meal option when you're in a rush.

In the UK and Ireland McDonald's have started to cook the onions on the grill with the burgers to give them a beef flavour.
are they cooked fresh or just warmed up on the grill?
@@hongk0ngfu3y cooked, I was surprised in North America that so much of the onion is served raw

There's one in Hamburg, off the main river that you can reach by boat. Stop at the small jetty and they'll bring it down to you.

It's pretty telling that fast food in the US makes me sick any time I eat it and yet that doesn't seem to happen in any other country we visit.
Long way to go for a Maccies though mate ! 😆

You did Italy, France and Hungary… but not Slovenia?! McDonald’s Slovenia is utterly amazing!
The chicken in a Chicken Big Mac are the ones from a chicken mayo. I find them really dry.
They need to bring back the Signature burgers! They were amazing 👍

What are French fried onions?

The difference with European mcdonalds is the food is not full of banned chemicals that you find in the usa
The quality seems better too.
Haven’t stepped foot in a McDonalds in the 18 years I’ve lived in Europe
Interesting to see the differences between the countries.
We were surprised by how many unique offerings each country has!
I'm sure that flower patty shape is because its no so processed as the States?
The Belgium buns look like a brioche bun.
Oh, maybe!
Offered my two year-old grand son a chicken nugget…his look of disgust was sight to behold. Certainly put grand dad in his place.
