In the park i make everything, in a game i miss everything. For example today in my school game i scored 12 points but if i made all those easy layups i wouldve got 25+
Bro this happened to me way to many times I’m so good at driving but the easy ones I keep smoking it’s sooooo frustrating 😡😡😡😡I lost a game today because of that
@@thebosscarter2143 ofc im still playing, yeah i fixed it, Just remember that everyone misses shots at some point in a game. just dont be afraid and be confident
guys i missed a open layup again today but then i didnt catch a pass caught it off a dribble went for a layup mid air changed into a hookshot and hit the game winning buzzer beater
I missed layups and my wide range shots like no tomorrow. But I knew why, I knew the cause of why my shots where not being executed properly. It was because I was in my own head. Usually I NEVER do this. Never. It has started happening as I haven't been playing with a basketball hoop but instead I'm usually in my house playing by dribbling the ball without, obviously, the net. I'm not certain that this is the primary reason as to why it's happening, however, I do believe it has an effect. Even if the effect is small. Moreover to this topic, now I will tell you what the main cause is. It's the ball. Now, I'm not saying that the ball is the reason that I'm not as good as Michael Jordan or anything. No. What I'm saying is that, I had a ball that I was playing with for YEARS. Ok? And well, my hands got use to the feel and touch of the ball. The texture and material of it I'm saying. It got worn out, then it was time to buy a new one. Normally, when you buy new material styled balls, it can get in the way of how you remember performing a certain move. So I realised when I actually started using the new ball outside in the park where a HOOP was. Same environment, different ball. So the shift has changed initially. I had made no wide range shots, missed all my layups. All I could say is that, I didn't feel like I was playing as me. Now because of this sudden change of pace and rhythm, my mind never stopped thinking about why it was happening, WHY I was missing so many shots. Then I realised, it wasn't the ball... It was me. My mind interfered with my whole natural way of playing. My playstyle that was hardly remembered but intuitively played out, at ease. 10 years of playing (Presently I'm 19 btw), It's like I have forgotten who I was, and why I was playing basketball. I love the sport. And I mean LOVE it. Never stopped playing. Even a machine has to stop at some point, and so I do when necessary 😅. But my point is, to get to whichever level you CAN reach, you must forget about how to get there but instead remember what you are playing for. Because that is when... YOU... will become the greatest player on the court. That is what will stand you out. Just like... Michael Jordan himself. 😉 Remember that.
So true. I be making wet shots when I am alone, but when I'm with people I get worried for missing the shot and then I actually miss the wide-open layup.
coach ive been missed a wide open layup so many times in this month in practice while playing 5vs5 but im a pro player im really good at basket for my age and my confidence will goes down

Coach I know I'm late but if I have a wide open shot idk what to do layups or shooting im better at actually shooting but then when I stop to shoot the opponent comes and I have to shoot fast so that makes me miss and also I miss 90% of my layups so can I get help and also my friends say I'm trash should i ignore them and keep playing because they just force me to give them the ball and then they give me a 5 minute lecture on how to stop missing and plus it sucks even more cause I have nowhere to train at the only place I can is in school and that makes me miss recess cause usually theres not a lot of balls so I cant just go and get one btw I'm in 5th
It’s not that I’m worried about making the shot or if I’m to relaxed. I’m doing everything right but I keep missing it. I think I’m moving to fast? The slower I go it goes in but if I gun it like I would in a game it bounces of the backboard. Are there any tips on how to control my acceleration?
Got a bunch of videos on his moves actually. Two on the Spiderman basketball moves he does. Those will give you a great start. Besides that it's just practice
Can you make a video of how to catch the same everytime. I mean same spot of hand to same spot of the ball. If I got my pinkie on the side and half of the ball. It is a auto bucket. But when I have to shoot. Off the dribble or catch and shoot. I mess up. I catch left and right. How can I fix it?
Coach do you remember the video that you did on "the ultimate guide of shamgod"ok where you show the move and 5 conters? I would Love to see that becoming a series
Got some more of those coming in the future! Might be a little while but they're already filmed. I basically have the next 2 years worth of RUclips content filmed already 🙌🏻
Don't turn your stance, that's pretty much it. If they go between the legs when you're squared with their legs they won't have a good path to get back to the ball if they go between your legs.
Lay ups are one of my skills lacking and I just am starting basketball! Everything else I train really hard but idek why I don’t do it with lay ups so thanks coach! 🤪
I don't aim to any particular point when I make the shot. It is more like my brain focuses of the whole area. Complicated I know, but it happens perfectly and intuitively.
Adjust where you're aiming in the backboard. I've got a video on what your should aim for on layups that will help you for different types of layups and situations
I was at a important match today and i wanna precise that i am not a pro a girl gave me the ball and i got the opportunity to shoot but i was afraid so i stop in the middle and passed the ball instead of shoot
Hey coach, when i am on a fastbreak for a layup, i jump farther away from the rim, preferably from the middle of the paint. I can still move at full speed and make the layup. But people say that you should slow down while you are about to lay it in. Should i change it?
if there's nobody right up by you, it's better to slow it down, but if it's a fast break where there are one, two people right up on you, don't stop. the faster you go the less likely it is for them to stop you, and the more likely it is for them to foul you. just keep it controlled :)
I think I’m just bad, when I’m 1 on 1 or 3v3 I do well, I got good footwork and mechanics and my 3 ball is sweet but when I play fast pace 5 on 5 I can’t hit cherry picked lay ups, wide open 3s or anything. But I hit hard contested 3s that no one should hit but when the paints clogged I lose my lay up game completely 0% chance of scoring down there. I dont even think when I shoot I jsut let my mechanics take over and yeah I do get sad but it doesn’t bother me I just step up on defense and get steals and force turnovers. I swear it’s not a mental thing at least consciously.
Im getting good bro 😉

I don’t know man, good shooting form is pretty important to gaining confidence. Most young players have very poor shooting mechanics.
How bout dribbles
quite litterally why i’m swinging for jv instead of full time😢
I just missed 3 layups today☹️
And, due to this, my turnaround J becomes very predictable. The movement feels slow as hell! Enough for the defender to recover from a shimmy fake.
what can i do when i drive to the basket and and the defence intentionally fouls me extremely hard
Make the freethrows 😂🏀
If they do it repeatedly, they'll get fouled out.. so they'll stop after like, three fouls
