Jan Vogler is a wonderful guy... love the way he thinks!
It's so cool to be able to see what goes on in the lives of the famous artists. I especially find your life fascinating because of your revelations of what happens behind the curtains.
Typically, we are only allowed to see you in action on stage, and afterward. It's such an awesome treat to see what happens in your preparations.
I love hearing your thoughts and ideas throughout the whole process. Love your way of bringing classical music to us, blending it with our lives to become a beautiful part of us. Thanks so much, Tiffany!

I am so glad that you had the opportunity to play with an experienced, but also understanding musician like Jan. This is so important for a young performer. Yes, the trick about nervousness is "to turn the 'butterflies in your stomach' into positive excitement in your favor". I hope to get a recording of you two performing a full piece together some time in the future!

Hello Tiffany I am relatively new to your Vlog. I am an amateur pianist working on my life goal Claire de lune, I enjoy your playing and the down to earth way you open yourself to those who follow you. I really enjoyed the trip to the Steinway Vault and the little section of Claire de lune. Thank you for your inspiration and candidness.

I think it's great when solo artists perform with other musicians. Sure, a soloist chooses to become a soloist for his or her own reasons, but as Vogler states, it's great to share the stage from time to time. Great for fans too.
There's so much music out there beyond solo pieces. It would be such a shame to neglect the possibilities.

So I'm not really on instagram so I'm jsut replying here:
I'll start with the story of how I almost missed the concert.
So I called the concert hall in advance to make sure they have my ticket reserved and that there's a parking lot nearby so I can park without having to look so much for a parking spot.
I planned on arriving at 20:00, half an hour before time.
When I arrived at the place, I realized the parking lot is actaully a 25 minutes walk from the address, so I decided - the hell with everything I will park at the first spot I find that isn't a towing area.
So I parked somewhere and started searching for the place.
Then it hit me. I was not in the right place. I figured I acciently drove to the address of the offices instead of the concert hall itself.
It was 20:15 already, and I really tried not to panic. I looked at my phone and thought "ok I'd just find the right address and it'll be fine".
And the cell reception died. I had no idea what's the right address and had no maps.
That was the minute I almost bursted in tears. I decided I'll go back towards my hotel (using the car GPS that had the adress saved on its history), wrost case I miss the concert and get back to the hotel.
Best case I'll find a place with cell reception and change my new route there.
I found a place with cell reception, and rerouted towards the parking lot which is actaully close to the right place.
I drove like maniac. it was 20:25, arrived the parking lot, went out and.. no cell reception again. No idea how to get from the parking lot to the actaull place. decided to search for a taxi.
Coudln't find any. Went back to the car and deicded to just drive to the address itself and park wherever.
I arrived at the right address and parked at 20:45.
I ran to the place, and begged the receptionist will let me in.
She was super nice and understanding (and found out she was the one who talked to me on the phone) and she talked with the supervision and they decided to let me in, without even waiting for the piece to end, and without payment!
I missed the Debbusy sonata but managed to hear the rest.
As I told you in person after the show (Michael from Israel), you are making classical musicians human,
You remind us that those talanted preformers are actaully human just like us and that is one of the most amazing thing about you, but the fact that you're also an extremely amazing and brilliant pianist, who lives the music and make it touch the audience and reach them.
The fact that the concert was amazing and that I got to meet you afterwards (and Jan as well) made my evening from horrid to amazing.
After talking to you guys (and Jan if you're reading this, thanks for the really great talk we had about the Bach suite and music in general, truly hope you will preform here in Israel at some point) I simply couldn't stop smiling for the rest of the evening.
    Thank you so much,
    Sincerely and with much appritiation,
    Michael

This is wonderful. Loved the scenery and discussion. The first question resonated. I am MUCH more nervous playing piano to anyone, anywhere than I am viola (even though I sound much worse on viola). That sense on stage of being ‘in it’ with others certainly lightens the burden

I think being nervous is nice. After going on stage many times you learn how to control it so it becomes an advantage instead of a disadvantage. Being nervous is nice because it means you'll be fully dedicated and motivated to give your best. If you have absolutely no pressure means you don't give so much a shit and you may underperform :) that's how I see it and how I deal with it

Such a great vlog! Really enjoyed the similarities and differences of the answers you and Jan gave to the fan questions. I found it interesting that Jan felt that being slightly nervous gave him that performance edge. I’ve always tried to control my nerves before recitals and actually try to imagine I was performing at home. Perhaps I feel that I can freely express my emotions if I didn’t have nerves to deal with. And, Jan said the opposite. I would also feel more comfortable and confident to share the stage with one other but also I would feel more pressure to perform my best to make sure our performances shine together. I loved Jan’s answer to collaborate with a fresh new performer as yourself. And then when you commented, “I hope so,” I chuckled a bit. Your humility always shines. This was a fascinating vlog offering different viewpoints of music genres, practice rituals and routines, and so on. To meet the piano tuner who tuned the same piano for you 10 years previously is pretty incredible. That was fun to include here. Glad your performances went well. Hope your headache worked itself out. Thank you and Jan for sharing this vlog!

Oh my Gosh yes, reactions and concentration are heightened in nervousness / excitement. With viola I get it just enough that I perform better, but, with piano it goes too far and I shake up to the elbows and loose accuracy. With strings in orchestra it’s so comforting to be reading from the score though. With piano the score wouldn’t even help as I can’t read at the required pace!
I love hearing you both talk about all this stuff. Thank you!

While I prefer the peace of calmness, I can definitely relate to Jan's calmness that comes with that slight nervous feeling before the event, as I'm familiar with the discomfort that comes with his mentioned absence of that slight nervous feeling before performance. It actually gives one that extra edge to perform at one's peak, in my opinion. It's analogous to a foot race where, if you know you are the best, your lack of nervousness may cause you to fall into a complacency that ends in your not performing at your best, and losing the race.
Your different perspectives in the Q&A were very interesting. As for the rest of your pre-performance video, I was very surprised to see how much more you guys do before your performance than I had ever even imagined. You guys are incredible! I was especially impressed with your meeting with the 8 to 12-year-olds. You guys are truly awesome!
And speaking of awesome, thanks for another awesome video, Tiffany! 👍

Maybe is too late by now. Next time you feel an onset of a headache it might be a little dehydration. Take “cold” water slowly as needed. The water must be cold to avoid any heaviness in the stomach later. Keep in mind managing intakes and outtakes carefully since concerts once started can’t be stop for any reasons. Get a real good breakfast and avoid too many pastries and keep caffeine liquids at bay. No chewing gum afterward though. Deep inhales and slow exhales, repeat. Relaxation will arrive once you place your fingers over the keyboard of the piano. You’ve arrived home, sweet home. Enjoy and impress. Cheers!

Hi, Tiffany! I am a beginning competition pianist. I have a few questions, if you can answer them that'll be great! For the first: do you use the Russian Method or the American Method? If you use the Russian Method, do you have any tips for the rotation in your wrists: the circling motion, basically since I have seemed to have a brain pause. Also, do you have any tips overall for nervousness? I always seem to freeze mid-way through my performance and I forget what the next notes are, even though I continue playing since my hands have memorized the notes.
I appreciate you and your pieces! Especially your recording of Chopin's Nocturne Op. 72 No. 1. I am currently sight-reading the piece. Thank you for all your wonderful performances!
