I have had this happen to me on ebay as a seller multiple times. I usually have to just eat the loss. It’s unfortunate because when I first started selling on ebay over a decade ago, this was not the case. They definitely need to enable the negative feedback for buyers!

I stopped selling on eBay because of this.. I had a horrible buyer, I couldn’t comment on them being a negative buyer, but they could lie and leave negative comments on my account. They said when their item arrived it was broken and damaged. I was a perfect seller on eBay up until I dealt with these crooks.. Not once I was shown how the item arrived and how it was broken. They never sent the item back to me either. I will never use eBay as a platform to sell items on again. Great video to show the truth of it!

In this instance, they are complicit in fraud. Ebay allowed the buyer to defraud you of merchandise and stole from your income (personal property) to reimburse the buyer. They are an accessory to the crime which makes them liable for lawsuites for a variety of issues presented to the sellers, and need to take these cases more seriously

Another thing, (since this is my second comment, sorry), somebody told me that eBay is where thieves liars and cheapskates go to shop. Mainly because they get by with it. I have a saying that my family and friends are sick of hearing, “ people do what they get by with. No consequences equals bad behavior.” When I first heard that I thought no there are a lot of sellers that are selling new items that are great. They do sell new items on eBay but the perception is their old used items and you’re not going to have to spend a lot. I realize that was many years ago however their customer base has maintained consistency. There are a few other folks that are decent buyers and sellers but there are a whole lot of crooks.

Not really possible as a lot of the time the buyer is in another state or country that has different laws, or they give a fake address that said items will be shipped to, and then picked up from, which is usually a business that either is illegally reselling the items they still or are covering up other sketchy sellers while running a legit business

I am sorry this happened to you as a seller. I am primarily a buyer (only sold once years ago and I almost lost a designer doll to a dishonest buyer). I never sold again. However, it is buyers like this who make it hard for honest and trusting buyers like myself who actually encounter real problem sellers. I currently have a case open for item not received, it's going on for over two months and ebay keeps putting my case on hold for an additional 10 days, this is twice now. I didn't even file the case sooner because I was giving the seller a break. The seller sent my package incorrectly as international when I'm USPS domestic, so due to the incorrect international tracking, it's being bounced around and shipped outside the US to various countries in a state of confusion. This could go on for more months or eventually get lost. The seller had poor communication from the start, won't intercept/contact USPS about their error and I can't get anyone to help. It's getting hard for both sellers and buyers on ebay. What I won't do is ever sell on ebay again though, if I don't have any luck as a buyer, I could imagine my fate as a seller.

I’ve been buying and selling on eBay for approximately twenty years, I’ve only just started getting back into selling, but it’s set up to protect the buyer. Luckily I’ve only had two instances were I’ve had to refund customers. One was a smooth transaction, but another wasn’t. I simply received a message saying the item didn’t work. It wasn’t overly expensive, less than $25, so I refunded the customer and asked for evidence of the item not working. Never received it, although I did receive positive feedback, which I was more worried about, having 100% positive feedback and not wanting to lose this over $25. I think that’s the biggest issue. If an item is faulty, the seller has to take the buyers word. And if it is, if no fault of the seller, do you really want to pay for the shipping to receive a faulty item. Most sellers will just wear the lose. Same with Facebook marketplace.

It’s just a shame, that as you mentioned, it wasn’t the buyer that reimbursed you, it was intact eBay. So basically they got a full refund and got to keep the item. All it took was something as simple as a battery replacement. Keep up the great videos.

a few months ago I was selling a 400$ transformer toy and a person with 80 feedback bought it. but I always do 2 things, check feedback and feedback left for others and the 2nd take their address and run it through google to make sure it seems legit. And sure enough this time it was to an empty lot in the california desert . Nope.. I just cancelled saying it was broken and then alerted ebay about the seller ... I put the listing back up a few minutes later and it was bought by someone with 0 feedback and just signed up. What happened to the dont allow 0 feedback to buy your items function? I looked for it because i was wondering why it turned off suddenly and its no where to be found in settings. so I cancelled again and took the combiner out of the box and sold in parts which actually got me the same amount of money but didnt have to risk all 400 in one listing but broke up in 8 smaller listings.
So lesson here is to always check feedback, date signed up of the buyer and also google search the address and make sure it looks legit.

The reason eBay took away neutral and negative feedback on buyers from sellers is because a lot of sellers were leaving retaliatory feedback when buyers were sent not as described or damaged products. This was driving buyers to leave eBay. Buyers are more important to eBay and sellers on eBay than sellers are to buyers or to eBay. The primary concern of that marketplace is to keep as many buyers there as possible, which makes more sense than favouring sellers.
Of course, you want to get rid of bad buyers, and even better, prevent them from buying in the first place. This is often done on the back-end, out of sight. In cases similar to yours, the buyer is reported by the seller and eBay investigates and bans them. They also have a lot of other software/data tools to keep potential bad buyers away. But none of that is ever going to be good enough to prevent all this kind of stuff from happening. Sellers themselves can accumulate a large list of blocked buyers, either ones they've had disputes with or ones that ask weird questions or too many questions.
Obviously, it sucks when this kind of things happens, because it's not fair, but at least there is some recourse for recovery which there often isn't when an owner of a brick-and-mortar store deals with theft and fraud. That happens more often than this kind of stuff on eBay, but it's way more frustrating on eBay because their language often leaves you with the impression that they don't care about it. Which I guess is probably true in some sense, because they only car insofar as it affects their business, not yours. So I guess it's kind of like how the landlord of a brick-and-mortar would react or Mall security. Looking at it that way, I think you got more out of eBay than you ever would out of those others.

Then Ebay needs to train their customer service to better resolve issues for both the buyer and seller like Poshmark does. Anytime something has gone wrong on Poshmark they will pay both me and the buyer out for the sale so no one loses anything. Also no feedback can be left on either end so the order is over and there is no extra drama. They also cover return shipping labels. Ebay is just greedy, lazy and outdated. They refuse to change and don't know what they are doing.

I recently had my worst eBay experience ever a seller, I purchased a action/gi joe law laser cannon complete for £27, the seller then messaged saying I have lots of other action/ gi joe items I haven’t listed yet and would I like to see what he has, I said yes if it’s no trouble, he sent pictures of different figures etc… but over the next two days this guy kept bombarding me with messages of things he has and would I like anything else and sending pictures of his items not for sale. So I started to think ok what’s the deal here? The law laser by the way hadn’t been posted yet, I then agreed to buy some other bits from the seller, however he hadn’t listed them another two days later, I asked when would they be listed and further more when are posting the law laser, the seller then became evasive and contradictory saying they would post it today then in the next message said if he can post it it will be tomorrow with other items he needs to post, he then started asking me if I wanted to do business outside of eBay because he’s make more money, I said no, then after this I said look I’d like a refund as you’re evasive contracting yourself, he then started messaging saying I’m messing him about and then he marked it as posted and said I’ve posted it, it never arrived so asked for a refund and he refused and said I messed him about, then he said he’d lost his job and all this other stuff, but was really angry and rude, he gave me a refund and when I left negative feedback he messaged insulting me but then I received an email from eBay saying the seller asks you to revise your negative feedback 😂😂😂, unbelievable
I also noted they had 7 other previous buyers who also left negative feedback for almost identical shenanigans

It has been going on over a month. I had to pay $300 in return shipping. UPS is trying everything to get out of the damage claim. I cannot refund the $2000.00 unless the UPS claim is granted. I have read all the policies and guess what? Ebay is authorized to take the $2000.00 right out of your bank without your consent. I had to drain that account just so they do not take the $2000.00 until this is fully sorted. It is a case now. Big business tells us what to do now. I am really considering going off grid for the rest of my days. Selling on Ebay is not fun anymore not to mention most finally value fees are 13.5 to 20 percent now. It took 3 weeks to ship from Illinois to Arizona...let alone Illinois to Italy. And the buyer was crabbing that after 3 weeks he didn't have his item. He filed a complaint, got his money back, I appealed, and was denied. And I used Ebay international shipping address so they had it last. Ebay and PayPal are crooks. I will never sell on eBay ever again. I've had much better experiences on Mercari. And I've had people try and do the "purchase, swap and return" trick before, so I take very good pictures and have high resolution photos of the item from every angle. Also, I let the buyer know up front that I have a no refund, no return policy on rare vintage and collectible items. If they open it, they own it, no exceptions. If that discourages people from purchasing from me then that works too lol 😆

This happened to me with a serpentor I sold on eBay. I sent the item in the exact box hasbro ships out in. There was a small hole on the side of the box when the buyer received it. A smug on the side of the serpentor box about half the size of an eraser from a pencil was the result.
He immediately messaged me asking why I didn’t double box it with pictures of “damage”. I almost thought he was joking. Then he said “I’m returning it”. I said your return will be denied as it’s listed as a no return item.
He said I will Return it and give you negative feedback for the way you handled this.
eBay took his side and allowed him to return it, however they said no negative feedback will be allowed since he threatened it in a message.
Then he had like 2 weeks to return it and…… he didn’t!!!
He gave me negative feedback and didn’t even return it!
Once the return was closed by eBay I contacted them and got his negative feedback removed.

You have already went through hell just trying to get your money back, now they want YOU to report him? Its bad enough just getting your money back!! A long time ago my significant other and I were buying a lot of stuff with the plan to eventually open a collectibles store. Ebay got really popular and that idea died, but I still have all the stuff. I have a storage unit full of stuff that I don't have a way to sell since ebay is crap for sellers now. I have had more issues as a buyer with ebay than any other platform I buy from!!(well hasbro pulse is BAD also and give Ebay a run for their money). BUT the Ebay sellers mark my items shipped and then they never ship my package for days and days!!. It will just says usps awaiting package label created and they just sit on my order once they get my money. It shouldn't be allowed that Ebay Sellers can even mark orders as shipped if they really are not shipped and tracking shows that if you look into it on the usps website.. I can't tell you how many times OVER AND OVER this happens to me as a buyer and I HATE IT. And another thing also sellers on Ebay will put my vintage toys in bubble mailers after I even ask them to please put them in a box with bubblewrap which I shouldn't have to do and then they arrive BROKEN/Smashed!!. Oh and another issue I run into is sellers putting my packages in the usps dropbox when I tell them DO NOT do that and to please bring it inside the usps building and have it scanned in but yet they still do and then try and lie and say they didn't but then under investigation come to find out they did when I contact usps and that location about it because there is NO scans in days and days on my package. And another thing they do to me ALL the time is I'll ask them to bring the package inside to be scanned in and they say they will do that and that they always do that when they ship out items but then tracking says it's been picked up by a usps agent from the sellers porch.. which means they did a pickup so they lied yet again.. I hate when sellers do Pickups it holds the buyers up it's lazy AND half the time usps doesn't scan the package they pickup so you go days not knowing where you package even is but the seller says he handed it over to the usps agent inside the building. With that being said in my opinion buyers don't get all the good luck and leadway on Ebay IF anything they get the short end of the stick 75% of the time. THE Balls in the Sellers court once they get paid by the buyer for a week or more.

I sold a blackmagic intensity shuttle 3.0 capture card and the seller told me it was defective and he wanted a refund. I told him man I packaged that really well and I used that card before I sent it. He just kept saying this is defective. I asked him questions about what his setup was and what software he was using. I told him you have to download drivers and software for this item and he told me to send them to him if I have them. He only checked eBay once a day and wrote like three messages and couldn’t be bothered with questions or anything. I told him to contact the company and get the correct drivers and software. He told me he called them and they said drivers and software aren’t necessary then he said he was gonna let eBay deal with me and ghosted me. I sent him a pdf of the manual, a picture of a new unit to show that the company sends them with a software cd, and an email from tech support saying that drivers and software and necessary and a link to the download for the drivers and software. I also got the guys feedback removed because he wrote negative feedback and said he’d remove it once I issued him a full refund so I got him for feedback extortion. It’s been crazy dealing with this guy. EBay also mixed me up with another one his other returns he had and said hey we show tracking saying that you already got this item back so you need to issue a refund in an email. I responded to there email a bunch and asked why they sent it. I asked an agent why they sent it in the phone and then finally I said hey I am wondering about this document number and this was said and they told me it was another guys return. I guess we both had the same first name. I got till the 11th to see if he returns the card and I hope he doesn’t. It’s a good card if he’ll look at the manual and attempt to use it right.
