- President Biden and first lady Jill Biden host the unveiling of the official White House portraits of former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama.
Barack Obama: "I've always described the presidency as a relay race; you take the baton from someone, you run your leg as hard and as well as you can and then you hand it off to someone else, knowing that your work will be incomplete. The portraits hanging in the White House chronicle the runners in that race, each of us tasked with trying to bring the country we love closer to its highest aspirations. And when future generations walk these halls and look up at these portraits I hope they get a better, honest sense of who Michelle and I were. And I hope they leave with a better understanding that if we can make it here, they can, too. They can do remarkable things, too."

Trump should have hosted the Obamas for the unveiling just as the Obamas hosted George W. & Laura Bush’s unveiling w/class & kindness despite party lines.

@@wadecarmen7501 Trump cut business taxes as soon as he became president and the economy and job growth grew nicely at higher level and the oil price dropped because he stimulate production and exploration. For the first time we were self sufficient in oil and gas. As contrast to the idiot Biden who cancelled Keystone Pipelines the first few days in the WH and forbid oil and gas production in federal land and private land as well. Then turned around to import oil and gas from Venezuela, Saudi and Russia. It the oil does not double, it would be tripple the price when Trump was in the WH.

Am I mistaken here or didn't the Obamas already have their presidential portraits unveiled a couple of years ago? I've been trying to learn why they're doing a second portrait unveiling but I haven't found any answers.
I'd appreciate if someone could let me know why there's a second unveiling.
Those were in the National Museum. These are official White House Portraits to be hung with those of past Presidents and First Ladies. Trump's petty, jealous a$$ refused to hang the Obama's portraits. He is such a jerk. This is traditionally done by the current sitting president for the former POTUS and FLOTUS.
