Timeless Classic Movies I already have. I am enjoying this movie.
the description is a total spoiler...thanks for ruining the movie!!
@@jenisbetzke6228Not really. Sam didn't commit suicide.😮
WOW!!! Hubba-hubba! June Vincent is an absolute stone fox! And at 63 I can't recall ever seeing her before, that's what's amazing to me. Especially since for years and years I have been a big fan of the old movie era.WHAT A DAME!!!
The woman is starting to remind me of Cruella DeVille.
I'm hoping there are no puppies in this film.
Exciting film which leaves the viewer guessing which way it will turn!
She contradicted herself at 13:00. First she said she didn't know about the policy and then she said that her husband had told her he was changing the beneficiary to herself.
They don't make movies like this anymore...Now it's all about violence, cursewords. computer graphics..You don't have to be a good actor anymore....
Not to mention "actors" whose primary talent is disrobing!
Jack Val........ Actors are even forced to take dumps and fart on screen while filming,.that's really rank..they have lost their pride and self respect...........just to keep working.
this is nothing but violence you nit.....and the actors are crap.
South American Maybe you're watching the wrong movies, dude.
Jack Val I don't know where to begin. First of all this wasn't a B movie; this was a C- movie at best. The writing was awful and every performance was completely wooden. Not one single spark of real human emotion; just strung-together clichés. A plot that makes little sense. Characters cut out of cereal box.
It was what it was-- a cheap B movie made from a dime store novel.
The set and costume design were good.😋
That maid lady look soooo familiar. Love her face, voice and style :D
Some quite witty one liners there, and I loved the Noel Coward-esque private detective (who's bed rolls into the wall!!). Thanks for this!
enjoyable 1 hour. Crime does not pay...n to live a life of lies n deceit...well. Too true-cigarettes a common prop in these old movies. Seems almost everyone is a smoker!!
do you see what she said guys???? "I hated the way you let me push you around!" Learn a lesson from this. it was true in 1948, 1848, 1748...AND IT IS JUST AS TRUE IN 2015, no matter what you have been told. this is the way women ARE, they can't help it, nature made them that way. that is why they test you constantly to see how much CRAP you will take. most guys think you win this game by taking the most crap, so she sees how much you like her and would do anything for her etc. actually, you win by taking NO CRAP, as counter intuitive as this seems. i am sure most of you won't believe it and ALL the females will insist this is false, but it's true.
@Marcos 989, P.K. seems to be a bit misogynistic. HMM?!
@paul kersey You are correct. Let those who are wise heed the warning as advise.
paul kersey , lolol, there are some women AND men like that, but the majority are not. If that’s all you meet, youve been mighty unlucky.
...and why does it seem that the only time guys go nuts for me is when I dont really like them and I'm not so nice?
@@beverlychase3587 because, as i said in my comment, they are trying to win you by taking all of your CRAP. they figure if they do so you will HAVE to like them eventually, but it only makes you like them LESS. you only get turned on by the "bad boys" who treat you like crap, don't you?
This movie would be comical as a play, like 'Clue'... just change a few details
Oscar winning performances!!! BRAVO! BRAVO!!
Frank Booth 😏

Umm...Yeah, we got that.
New to re edit last sentence. Sam was shot by Edna. He didn't commit suicide.
Really enjoyed this movie, thanks!
It’s a dark and sordid story all right, but has the stilted feel of a ‘30s crime pic way more than a noir. And it’s hard to tell whose acting is the most wooden. June Vincent has opened up an early lead. The private eye talks like Snagglepuss... so over the top (certainly entertaining). Another distinctly un-noir element is the music, at times tracking the action step by step. Most importantly, we have here the banal evil of stick figures, we are nowhere near the dark depths of the complex human heart the way we are in noir. More and more convinced this pic doesn’t belong in the genre.
what?
Smoking was popular in movies right after world war 2 , because the war ended in France and french people smoked. So Hollywood thought smoking was sophisticated
I'm still going to love it I'm sure These old movies are best They stand on their own They also make you think I wasn't around but it seems we were a more literate society The lost art of conversation
Captions?? Please!!!
One cold woman!
is Gregory Peck in this? there is a guy that looks just like him in this movie.
Too many ads!
It’s pretty corny stuff
But I kinda like it actually very corny stuff 🤣👍🍿🎬
Hi! I’m John 63 and enjoying these old flicks a lot!
Seeing as how movie theaters are becoming relics and way too much money in new releases goes to special effects, with super hero fantasies, female Wonder Woman types and absolutely mindless documentaries posing as movies, things aren’t changing very soon.
A bucket of popcorn and RUclips is all I need.
well done june vincent is amazing one minute she happy the next she'd cut your head off
Bi-polarism?? Acting....
Or a narcissistic personality? They line to hurt people's feelings and do not like to apologize.
Borderline personality disorder
I grew up with my great grands and grama.. we always watched these wonderful classics!! They are calming to me!! Best movies ever!!
Yes I feel the same way and they always stay with me lm sure you know what I mean
Typical insurance company - very willing to take your money and very reluctant to pay a claim.
Interesting plot. Not the typical murder for insurance.
"Double Indemnity" starring Fred MacMurray & Edward G. Robinson.
Now THAT’s Film Noir. Many movies are erroneously described as Film Noir, but this is the real deal. Very 40s. Excellent story and script. June Vincent makes an excellent Femme Fatale.
And there's also confusion at the difference between a real femme fatale and a sleazy female scumbag! 😮
You got to love these classic movies. You don't see all the goodies and here all the horrible language . So glad my youngest and his wife have started watching them. Thanks for posting.
better than the 54 million dollar budget movies they make now
This is making my Saturday night! A great film, my brandy, and my little friend Coco. 😏🐶
Y chocha.
That was as dark a film noir as I've seen in a while. A good one right to the bitter end.
"Thanks" for uploading such wonderful films and THANKS TO EVERYONE who leaves a comment - it REALLY helps me decide what to watch and when. :-)
I'm retired, didn't know what Film Noir meant until 4 months ago...now I'm enjoying all these black and white movies..Thank You for this Movie..
Fantastic ending to a great story, right up to the last minute! Keep 'em coming! Thanks!
UCLA should restore this. I know its just only a "B" movie but its better than most "A" movies. Really well written and acted. Intriguing plot twists!
UCLA doesn’t have the talent or the skill to restore anything. Times have changed and with DEI nobody is educated or talented to do more than protest. We live in a dying country.
I never grow tired of this film and the whole noir genre.
Film noir classic Hollywood entertainment! Some times art echo true life or maybe the other way around!
Neither do I
The make a very immersive video game on that genre.
L.A. Noire
Very detailed right down to those old wool blazers you dads, fathers, oldest brother use to wear.
Same! I love these films. What they churn out today is crap. They spend millions to make the most forgettable movies...while these films are unforgettable. 🌹
Excellent!! Love seeing the nurse from Marcus Welby, MD, Elaine Verdugo.
A father, a second wife, a son from a previous marriage, financial desperation, the quest for truth and a private investigator obsessed with fives who walks a line between ethics and avarice, murder, fraud and betrayal. Lots going on in this film with twists and turns. Very enjoyable for the period.
Great film noir with many unexpected turns! Highly recommend.
Thank you to whoever is uploading these amazing old films! Love them!
What an amazing interpretation of devious characters! Thank you!
Film noir seems to have such great acting, and so dramatic. Love it! But I also found this film convoluted and hard to grasp the ending. The PI had the best role I think. Quite the shyster!
You can see a lot of June Vincent on the old Perry Mason's TV shows. Raymond Burr was the best Perry Mason of them all.
Lol. You sure are right. Even though he was a fictitious character, everytime I had to go to court, I look for lawyers who have some Raymond Burr in them.✌
Yes, I knew I was getting older when, every time Perry Mason comes on I get excited. And it comes on every day. 😏
Absolutely fabulous! Thank you for posting. Great acting. Love the entire cast.
This was pretty good. The crooked detective was the only one that got away clean.(ls)
He (the detective) was a slick article, but I liked him. At least he had good taste, and frankly,he gave the best performance in my opinion
SPOILER ALERT!
The play on shadow, light and attitude.. "Priceless".
Prople could actually learn something from thees old flicks.
Play dirty you' ll get dirty
I remember those scales we see in the opening. They were in front of many stores. You put in a penny and got your weight. Simpler times.
Marilyn, Tom's girlfriend years later played Consuela Lopez; Dr Welby's nurse/receptionist.
Ms. Vincent has the face and demeanor of the quintessential "bad Girl."
+Gilda Marlowe i love the bad girls!
That's right. Gildy poop
Agreed, Vincent played that part well.
Thanks for the upload. This was an excellent movie with a lot of good & reasonable plot twists. Judith Vincent got better looking as the movie went along.
Thanks so much for uploading all these films I absolutely love them.
I liked it. An inescrupulous woman, many noir elements going on... Thank you.
What a gem, I have listened to it several times and watched it twice. It runs itself, a formula with character actors that are dead on. Thanks for uploading.
An enjoyable and entertaining movie, It had a nice, unexpected ending.
Excellent film! Really enjoyed watching the unexpected twists. Great performances too. Thank you for uploading this. : )
All of these old movies reminds me of how much smoking was apart of everyday life.Funny how things have changed.
Actually I find it stranger that everyone is so down on smoking cigarettes yet think pot and liquor are ok??? go figure... what about second hand Pot smoke (with kids in the house) or drunk driving? nobody has ever been run over by a smoking driver:.) lol just saying
Sir Loxley Mendoza "Everyone" must not include the U.S. government, because both pot and alcohol have way more restrictions on them then cigarettes! Cancer rates from cigarettes are much, much higher than for either alcohol or pot, too, as far as the stats say.
Another ploy, subliminal persuasion if you will, of the devil....sure enough it is!!
Number 1 cause of Lung Cancer today ? Radon Gas coming up from under our houses and other buildings.
I remembered when they banned smoking in 1997or 98 in new York bars and clubs.
I had never heard of this actress. Thanks for the video.
i love theses movies, especially the scores are amazing, and the quality of the movie itself is not bad
her lover in this film i recognize as being an actor in "Gilda" being Rita Hayworth's character's lover. He's pretty.
"Pretty" men are not really attractive.
They are to other men.
25point8 what the hell are talking about???
1948? Has more of a 1932 look to it.
Just a very bad print.
That first scene is why I always felt insecure living in an apartment building.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💀
if that old ponce says "adroit" one more time ....im going to smash my art deco tea caddy.
Movies today have no story, no dialogue, just shoot em up, crashes.
Aaaaaah, ever-notorious June Vincent = One of THE Noir Queens of Cheesy Sleazy...!!! :-)
Nice Noir with lots of plot twits. June Vincent yes a lot like Veronica Lake, the femme fatale with a smoking voice
Jon Effemey Veronica Lake was 10x hotter! that hairstyle 😍😘😎
agree-- Lake was really beautiful. Petite and sexy.
Nothing like your description giving the whole story away. Not cool ....
very very stellar performances puts current films to shame, i thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
Most men think "I can make this women" in reality if the women does not want to be made he can go ahead and pound salt.
John Raymond that would be “ woman” but of course you are right. It is a mistake for any man to think he can make a woman. He would be in for a big unpleasant surprise!
RUclips + TCM = TV IS DEAD!! from Puerto Rico, Thanks.
He doesn't commit Suicide, and she doesn't pay off the PI either
The intro tells the entire story--what's the sense of watching it?
Moronic comment. Did you actually watch the movie? It seems not.
To make sure they are telling you the truth.
Also - spoiler alert. Don't click the 'show more' phrase unless you want to know how the movie ends.
Very good story and excellent acting.
Please tell me you're being sarcastic--at least about the acting.
Great movie
just the man was hurt and had to take revenge, and then revenge was taken on him truth of the matter is he wasn't as innocent as he looked he should've kept he's hands clean and all would've gone well but then that would've spoiled the entire fun and intrigue of the movie so chairs and shed no tears
HIS
CHEERS
IN THE LAST SCENE OF THIS MOVIE WHERE SHE CRASHES THRU THE DOOR AND FALLS BACK BREAKING THE BALCONY RAIL FALLING TO HER DEATH, LEAVES MUCH TO BE DESIRED AS CREDIBLE ! HAVING SUCH FRAGILE RAILS ON A BALCONY WOULD NEVER PASS THE BUILDING STANDARDS IN ANY CITY !
Tell that to the 114 deceased victims of the 1981 Hyatt Regency skywalk collapse (KC, MO). The skywalk passed building standards....until it didn't.
OW! STOP SHOUTING!
“Remember, no tears” and “Write me every day”. He is just begging to get caught. 😂
Edna took the express elevator to meet her cabbie.
That was great. 😃 Love these noir films. 👍
June Vincent always plays wicked godless women.
The movie was great until the end.
She's a punk, but not as bad as the woman in "Detour".
Wallace Ford was in the informer. Great movie of Irish rebellion
Dick Hogan as David Morse's Mini-Me.
And Consuelo!
love all the double crossing
She's a cold as ice type. Good 👍flick.
I so do enjoy old films
Wow what a bunch of skunks...The insurance guy was right the whole time.
+Bob Ross you said it! And the P.I. was a superb skunk!
That was tops, thanks a gazillion TCM* !
The normal Hollywood way is to pair lovers up based on their cinema status with sometimes no regard for how they look together. These little "B" jobs by and large do away with that, to their eternal credit.
"Love just might be a little over-rated." Sam grover
"
I like Wallace Ford- tough but funny dependable character actor. Brooklyn energy. He was in the mummy's hand
Thanks for the movie...... that was another good one .....I loved the stuff from the 40s
Wallace Ford's nuanced performance is excellent. Johnstone White, cunningly amoral and debonair to the hilt, is outstanding. Dialogue and other performers providing top support. Jean Yarborough's tight direction and editing first class.
Another good old black and white! Thank you.
Good movie and a decent upload. Thanks for posting.
Not a bad flick. We could all think of Lots of improvements. I was especially glad that Hollywood dropped the comedy relief so prevalent in prior years of WWII (to soften the war efforts). With a few Tweaks here and there - this could have gone down as a Classic. But instead, we got a really decent scenario with decent acting and filming. It was the general direction and what seemed to be a bad case of misunderstandings that caused the movie to begin slipping.
I just wanted to know what the movie was about but the whole story was there
Why do I get the feeling that every character that elisha cook played had ever had a happy day in his entire life? Jack palance baits him in Shane and sends him to perdition in a muddy street. Humphrey Bogart steals his 45s from him and marches him into his bosses office to embarrass him. And in the killing his cheating wife is leaving him for another man. He was a wonderful actor. Completely underrated and unappreciated. Rip elisha cook and thank you so much for making my childhood memories unforgettable.
Don't forget him in Kubrick's The Killing, what a cheery future he faced!
NEVER. And Cook isn't in this movie.
Movie is worth viewing; description of the ending is incorrect.
This is an easily overlooked post WWII noir gem since it had no 'big names'. It's marked by a tight, suspenseful plot seasoned with snappy dialogue, 'Let me out before you pass the plate'.
Grade D- acting infests worthwhile noir premise. Nor does it help that there are NO characters not complete morons except perhaps the private detective--and fails in the end, too. But an idea worth stealing for making a better film out of.
