- I will be showing you guys how to change the DRL lights on the astra j so if you wanted to put a LED bulb on this would be the way of doing it, or if you needed to replace you non working DRL bulb this would be they way.

Good useful video, A TIP FOR THE FUSEBOX SIDE (Passenger side UK).....put a piece of string thru the loop in the wire and while squeezing lugs together with one hand, gently pull on the string to release the holder from the headlamp, worked for me
This worked for me too.
just a quick point to save time the air box is onlly held in by two rubber clips it just pulls off easier than undoing the screws in the lid
Point noted, will look out for these when I choose to embark on this seemingly tricky operation, lol

PRO TIP!!!! Attach a cable tie to the wire on the back of the bulb, put a ring spanner under the bottom plastic tab and lean it away from you to pull it up up with the cable tie around your middle or 3rd finger. Push the top tab down with the 1st finger your other other hand and gently wiggle and pull while holding your breath and crossing every appendage of your body!🤣
if youve got hands like a child to get passenger side one out!!!! noticed you never removed the bulb ?

Exactly, they could put the caps on top with a larger opening, terrible design.
they do it, so ppl who are not confident are forced to goto the dealer and pay eye watering prices
my wifes fiesta ,take the whole light unit out ,and change the bulb on the bench ,far easier than this pantomime.
I went to garage the other day, they was complaining about fusebox next to headlight, they says they have to remove my whole bumper and remove whole headlight.... Thanks for vid next time I'll do it by myself
Id love to know how your supposed to get a hold of the "two little tabs" to get the bulb out on the passenger side!
I used a flathead screwdriver to lever the bottom tab open then my other hand to press the top tab and with my arm levering the screwdriver I pulled the cable connected to the back of the light fitting to remove it, it was a hassle but it worked after a couple tried

Just done mine now and what I done was push one pin in, gently pull / tension on the wire and then done the other metal tab and same again, took about 2 or 3 goes with gentle tension and then it worked. I was farting around with trying them both together and with a screwdriver at first and it was useless, this was the passenger one as well!
The tabs actually broke on me when I used a pair of pliers ( gently!), But as long as you secure bulb and cap after seems fine.
Very well demonstrated , the people who design these cars must thing everybody has childs hands to fit in these small spaces

What joker at vauxhall thought of this! No wonder people pay halfords to do it. Changing a bulb should NEVER be so bloody involved ffs.

Why did you unscrew so much stuff??? You can take the box out by simply unscrewing the 2 silver plates

How do you solve Astra fuel problems, Auto Astra J is giving only 20.1mpg

Changed it yesterday. I found the you dont need to press the clips to the the bulb out, just pull the wire and when putting it back in again, make sure you tuck the wires back in with a screwdriver. P.s after changing passenger side, the warning light came on for drivers side now. 🤦♂️

update, I have managed to change the light but only after breaking one of the retaining lugs on the light fitting... I have refitted it with only 1 lug holding it, seems ok for now but time will tell. The problem with the passenger side is that you can move both lugs inwards but you cannot get any purchase to pull the light out..... is there a tool that could make it easier?
I have done the same on passenger side and still can’t get it out pain in the ass
The "tool" you mention is the one who designed this fitment in the first place. It's absolutely moronic that it's nearly easier to strip the front of the car and remove the headlight cluster!
I too broke off the lugs that hold the passenger side lamp. I found it makes very little difference, I just stuff it all back and it seems to hold in with the cover.
You did the easy side, like to see you do the other but you gave up on that one.
I did make a video on that side but there was nothing to see properly because it was in a tight space the camera and me trying to open you won’t be able to see anything, but the other side is a bit more tuff but you can change it but it takes more time.
what a fucking nightmare I had to change the damn led on the left, (I have thick fingers) anyway ,thanks a lot for your tip, it helped me a lot 👍

Nice vid, but given that I have auto lights and I am the type of guy who breaks everything, I think I will wait until service/next thing breaks and get the bulbs changed.

Good video. These DRL burn out due to them being on all of the time. I'm on my 3rd set and the car is not even 6 year old. I have found you only need a pozi screw driver to do this job, take the fuse box lid to get into the passenger side drl but the drivers side you don't actually need disconnect the hose from the airbox cover, just undo the screws and connector then move to the side. To get them off i found it easier to squeeze my thumb and finger in to try and close the tabs then pull on the wire with my little finger

Very helpful 👌 apart from the lamp type is called a 580 aswell, I bought the wrong one first time,
stabbed my finger twice with the flathead cause it didnt want to come out 😊
For loosening the caps i recommend 11 inch 45 degree pliers.
Use the circle end of a small spanner on the passanger side. It can get the bottom end and use your finger for the top end. Worked a treat after trying to get it out with my fat hand. Useful video. Thanks
Amazing! you saved me a lot of grief. Vauxhall would charge £35 hours labour, and £15 for the bulb.. oh, and 20% VAT

No clips on my 2012 Astra. Seems to be a screw that may need loosening.Tried in wain several times to change this lamp now
You sure that's not the dipped bulb?
I know why only did one side. Impossible to get your hands in the other side. I managed to pinch the clips but no space to pull the unit to remove it.

There is an easier way. Just pull the airbox out of it clips and move the whole thing. Which varient and yr is the j your working on. 14 plate has the bulbs fitted to the cover. Also take out the washer fill tube for more access
Don't need to remove air box lid. However shame you didn't show the near side bulb,, looks like the light unit needs to come out for that one.

Would have been a decent video but you conveniently skirted round the passenger side bulb as it is a much harder one to change

Thanks for this video, helped a lot. Didn't need to remeove the air filter lid and completed both sides in 20 minutes. Did use the string tip around wires that someone had wrote in the comments.
Seems like a lot of effort just to change a poxy bulb.
Vauxhall really don't like to make things easy for the consumer
I bought astra 2010..I found heating fan is not get quick as i want it takes more time then my last car where is the problem plz msg

I tried this myself and snapped both the clips my days I'm an idiot
would i be right in thinking there are only 2 screws holding the headlight housing? Easy access to everything.
Get the wife to do the two clips. Mens fingers are to big, the mrs did it in 2 seconds.
