      +jojohot100 I am so glad for you! We can never give up on a camera! Thrift shop? I don't think you have an idea of the value of your Contax T, even sold as spares it would genarate enough money to buy another working camera! Happy shooting!

    I have an old chrome version that's a bit battered but works perfectly well and a mint black version , they are beautifully made and have a super sharp lens. I have a T3 too that I've not had long that I'm just trying out. My first decent camera was an OM2n and I'm gonna mg to watch your video on that, so thanks for the posts

      Hello, I 'm sorry to hear about your Contax T. Unfortunately, my dear friend and technician died last year, so I can't provide you with that information. I hope you get it fixed.

    Thankyou for posting this video.I own several Contax cameras but my daily 'carry everywhere' machine is my T (mine's the black finish) as I don't necessarily want to lug around the terrifying weight of my RTS III,incredible machine though it is.Get a T and you will discover you have the finest compact ever made.I rate the lens on mine as being damn close to the Leica 35/2 pre asph Summicron M in terms of sharpness although I would say a little more contrasty.T's are generally not a cheap camera although I picked mine up at a very favourable price.Try one and you'll love it.

      +Romeo's Dog Thank you for your comment. The Contax T is a wonder of a cam, only those who have used know their true potential. That Sonnar lens is second to none and the only camera that I have that equals its performance is the Summarit 2.4/40 of my Leica CM (and the T2, of course). However using the Minilux/CM is rather unpleasant experience because of the terrible viewfinder.

    Thanks for posting this video. I had never heard of this camera before and it was given to me 2 weeks ago by my grandmother. I only use my IPhone camera and have no desire for this one but would like to find out how it works. I bought the batteries that you suggested and loaded film but when I take pictures, I don't hear the click to let me know it is working. I took 8 photos and will take the film in to see if it works.
    It comes with a flash but even with new batteries, it does not flash.
    Thanks

      +jojohot100 Thank you for your comment. Are you sure you have fitted the batteries with right polarity ? If there are no LEDs in the viewfinder when you press lightly the shutter button, then the camera is faulty. Also, check the LCD frame counter, if i does not show any number numbers, the camera is faulty or has the wrong batteries. Don't forget, it takes 2 x LR 44 or AG13 batteries. Detach the flash unit from the camera, that's a camera to be used without lash. Also, clean the battery chamber, i you see green/blue traces in the battery chamber or battery cover, remove them with vinegar. Please keep me posted.

    Paulo, it's a miracle. I gently sratched the bottom of the batteries holder with a knife, put 2 sr44 instead of lr44 and it works like a charm! But is it normal that I can't shoot with the back open?

    • @paulomoreira007
      @paulomoreira007  9 лет назад

      +La Cazouille I am very glad for you! Yes, it is absolutely normal not to open the shutter without the back, as it is the frame counter that starts counting after 2 frames.Have fun!

      Thanks again Paul. I shot a few rolls and it works just perfectly. I had a Contax T2 before, that I didn't like much. But the T is similar to the Minox 35, one of my favorite compact cameras, which makes it perfect to me.

      Paulo, still nothing new? I opened the top of the camera, there was nothing signifiant to see inside, so I just brushed and put some "magic spray" and it worked again normally with two films. Then yesterday the same problem came back... unable to shoot with AND without a film inside.
      I think I got something, but I'm not sure it'd help to understand the source of the problem: the problem tends to happen when the shutter speed, for some reason, like pointing the camera to a darker place, or changing the aperture, decreases. If the speed slows down once, then the shutter often won't open for a couple of shots, whathever I do. Then sometimes it'll open again...

      I really don't know. most of my cameras come from flea markets, although I bought this one in Germany, dead, for spares in photo shop. As you can see, the camera is not dead at all! All the best!

    Paulo, my friend, it's me again!
    Actually I've been having the following problem since I started using the Contax T, but it's a rather strange problem. Without any film inside the camera, I can shoot and shoot again until 99 appears on the LCD screen and can still shoot perfectly after that. But when I actually put a film, my Contax T gets weird: I can't hear that typical "clic" sound from the shutter 1 out of about 5 shoots, and there's indeed no photo on my film, which means the shutter door won't open; and most of the time, when I'm at about the 25th photo on my 36 frames film, the camera will just completely stop shooting. I've got to put the film off to be able to see the shutter opening again... it's really frustrating... Have you ever heard of something like this before?
    Cheers from Japan!

      i am so sorry to report that my Contax T has developed the exact same problem! I thought it was specific to my camera as it had its metering cell replaced by the one found in the Yashica Electro 35. I have just finished a film, about 60% of the shots came out blank. I really don't know what to think yet, if I found an answer, I will let you know ASAP.

      Thanks for your answer Paulo. I'm sorry to hear that... I could'nt find a solution yet. But let's keep in touch and inform each other in case we find something. Cheers!
      Oh something else: I noticed that there often is a time lapse between the moment I shoot and the moment the shutter actually opens. I think it's linked to our problem.

    I purchased one for 10 dollars but even with new batteries nothing's working. I was thinking of dismantling it and try something but I've got no idea about how to proceed...

    • @paulomoreira007
      @paulomoreira007  9 лет назад

      +La Cazouille Please see some comments below regarding right batteries and polarity. DO check if you have two brand new LR 44 /AG13 batteries, respect the polarity, but first, careful examine the battery chamber for any old battery leaks. It won't hurt if you wipe the chamber withe vinegar. If still nothing happens, you can try and open the bottom to see if there is a corroded wire. Other than this, it is virtually impossible to go further, unless you are a highly skilled technician like the guy who resurrected mine, swaping the metering cell for another one from Yashica, but this is not for DY fans.Good luck!
