Wow Frank that looks great... and thank you for being one of the main influences in starting my lure painting business K.O.B.B (kranky ole bastard baits)...and also want to say thank you for speaking highly of Jimmy at lurebuild because I've been using him on your say so. He is very helpful and very professional
Glad to see you back in the booth Frank. I really enjoy watching you paint. Thanks!!! for some great ideas and instructions. Hope your hands get to feeling better.
Hi Frank, this is a pretty delayed comment for this video but Vallejo makes a product called “chipping medium” especially for the effect your doing by scratching the paint. I’m new to lure painting and learning so much watching all your videos. Have a great day.
Killer bait and great video explaining your techniques. Years ago Ken from Badger Airbrush helped me pronounce their primer when I met him at the model train expo. He explained it’s a combination of the surfaces styrene, vinyl, and resin. Sty-nyl-rez. Looking at the name still hurts my brain. Keep putting out awesome content!
@@customlurepainter I’ve been using Stynylrez Primer on WWII miniatures and love it. I just purchased a few of the auto bourne sealers for painting lures. I’m still a rookie and your videos are a huge help!
Awesome video frank definitely going to try out that technique in my next armor bait really make the armor plates distressed looking amazing working and video
Looks awesome I really like doing the armor plated lures iv had a few customers ask for them. I just got my candy paints in and just started today painting with them still trying to get my mix just right .
@@customlurepainter I must not be using the same sealer, my paint has a tremendous amount of metal flakes in it, for my base coats, I use a Paasche type H, with a bowl, with a #3 nozzle, .66mm, the paint I have can plug the airbrush, now I use a #5 nozzle, it’s a 1mm nozzle and works great. The 2nd issue is the metal flakes fall out of solution really fast, if you put paint in the bowl you better use it up fast, if you set it down the metal flakes will settle out and throw slugs of metal out. My paint will plug a .5mm in a heartbeat!
It’s a small detail brush, you can get at hobby lobby, if your not comfortable painting your dots with your airbrush, the little brush will come in handy.

I do like the pattern on the baits, I haven’t tried one, but it’s on my list! Have you ever caught a fish on one of these?
I have caught fish on them, very fun to paint to take you out of the normal.

I’ve never been normal, maybe it will make me normal!
@@markoharoldoronearmedpoohb7816 lol we want to be different
Check out the down and dirty rust. It's a one shot deal
Just got it
You cam also use texture paints and chipping medium.
Actually just got it in the mail today, will be experimenting with it
@@customlurepainter which ones did you get. I've been doing resin printed models.
I got Dirty down Rust, AK worm effects and AK heavy chipping
@@customlurepainter right on the dirty down will not disappoint
You mention the autoborn sealer in silver, what Airbrush do you use for that?
Hey Mark, I use a PS 290 Creos trigger gun .5, very easy to spray thick sealers with.

What kind of tool is that yellow thing you used to make the rivets?
It’s a small detail brush, you can get at hobby lobby, if your not comfortable painting your dots with your airbrush, the little brush will come in handy.
@@customlurepainter thanks for the info!
I should send my swimbait back to you to give it that rust effect
what is that wrap you use to wrap the bill ?
It’s just blue painters tape
Cool thanks
