it’s always so interesting to me to see how others annotate their books! i used to be really against it too when i was younger, but now it’s one of my favourite things, even though i don’t really have a system. it ends up a bit different every time. mostly i just underline lines and passages i really like and will write down little reactions i have to those parts of the book or even write entire tangents on different topics. (of course marked w tabs, but not colour coded really besides trying to match the book cover). it’s not the easiest to navigate, but the most fun for me to do while reading personally. that and the fact that i think books look super cool with handwriting in them, even if i personally find mine ugly. and even better if i lend the book to a friend and they also write small notes in the book that i can see the next time i re-read the book
