To try to put to rest some of your concerns, as I understand it, the House of Representatives recently passed a bill automatically registering 18 to 26-year-olds for selective service. It has been a felony for the past 50 years to fail to register for selective service. To be drafted, both the President and Congress would have to authorise a draft and that can only happen in times of national emergency.
