I kept making jokes like “Reggies the killer” “She’s sleeping with Reggie” “Reggie is sending the texts” “WHERES REGGIE ;REEEEEEE-GIEEEEEEE” “why didn’t he call for help like lassie” Also on another note the ending was bs I get they show that he’s wearing a mask but the fact he has hair makes it seem like it’s worth a rewatch, but when I watch it back you don’t see anyone with short curly hair so it literally has no meaning.

The entire time, I was screaming: "Why is nobody asking where the footage is coming from". So when Dan Stevens asked where she found the footage, it actually made sense and felt less like he was trying the find the footage and more so find out actually how it came about. Like, if Toby Huss the property owner died, how was the footage playing on the tv or being sent to phones. The fact that nobody during the movie even thought about it for a second was frustrating.
Honestly that’s a really good point but I’d also argue that a steamed girlfriend just realizing that her supposed loyal boyfriend cheated on her would absolutely erupt in anger if the first words of his apology were “so how did you find out”. Like obviously it’s a logical question but it lacks any remorse or guilt, he’s already forgotten about being sorry for cheating in that way
My only issue with this movie is there’s too many either very poorly placed dead end plot strings or just unintentional ones. Like when the brother who had been in prison found that room that was locked and then the other locked room within that one and they made it seem so ominous but then he got a text and they never showed what was with that room, or the previous one. And with the ending proving the house meant absolutely nothing to the killer, those scenes were just bullshit manufactured tension to pad run time. The actors were great. The writing was 😑

Getting denied by Airbnb’s is the worst offense. A friend of mine, with a very Nigerian name, requested one. She was denied. Two minutes after, her white bf with a generic name (a la Brian or Tom) was instantly approved and this was in NYC.
My friend stayed in am Airbnb in Nevada. She found herself targeted, chased, hunted. No idea the details. She livestreamed to fb asking for help. She was rescued, owner was arrested. Very important to stay in a motel/hotel that is *not* a mom or pop shop. One regulated. Comfort suites, hilton. Ones you can report, that are regulated, yelp- all that.
I like that he said this could be international because imagine this being a Korean film and yes I am saying that because I am recently obsessed with Korean revenge/psychological thrillers. But it does look pretty good

I wish they had been aware of the killer even just briefly at least more than just one girl . And there had been a struggle with the killer and someone a bit more than the one knife in the face. A little more chasing and dodging and hiding and maybe some attempts to fight him by an already injured Josh instead f everyone being killed so quickly What happens though after the second Airbnb the killer books and leaves bodies or at least missing persons? Any cop will look through all people who had immediate access to the Airbnb at some point in time and as soon as they see this guy correlate as a guest to two of the airbnbs where people went missing it would be a very obvious red flag why these people are going missing/ being bodied. Even if the cops have no proof he did it he would have a hard time pulling it off again at another Airbnb with cops now following him waiting to catch him Eventually in a sequel he'll be booking a room for himself in prison

I watched this at the Drive-in movies. Me being a person who frequented the movies biweekly before the pandemic, I was excited to finally go out and see a new movie. I wasn’t expecting much with this movie and I didn’t get much with this movie but I’m not even disappointed really...
I feel like there was wayy too much in this movie that didn’t have any explanation/reasoning, and “explaining” them in the sequels just seems like a cop out for lazy writing
4:20 really? This is the most contrived part of the movie for me. The woman sees the camera in the shower head, she *just so happens to be* one of the people who *just so happens to be* cheating and *just so happens to* see it when the only other person around is the one she's cheating with and it *just so happens to be* the reason that she not only doesn't call the cops, but that she fights with the property manager causing the beating of the property manager who *just so happens to* get knocked unconscious by a guy who isn't in on the cheating. Even after all of that the killer taunts the one person who's regretting not calling the police right away and the only reason she doesn't call the cops _appears_ to be that she *just so happens to be* on drugs, that we haven't even set up as a problem for her yet. If the killer had been revealed to have known them and somehow, through some Rube Goldberg-esque planning, caused all of that while showing how he did so I would have rolled my eyes a bit and probably let this go, suspending disbelief enough to think of it as his horror movie antagonist superpower. However, the end of the movie makes it pretty clear that this guy just sort of oopsie-woopsie lucked into all of this. The writers blessed the killer with some kind of reverse deus ex machina (daemonium ex machina?) that makes everything work out for him despite the fact that he's too lazy and obvious about what he's doing (I mean she finds the camera just by looking up, there's no other reason for it, she just sees it). It's just lazy writing and I can't be all that scared of a guy who has to get insanely, win-the-lottery-because-lightening-struck-the-right-numbers-on-the-powerball-machine, lucky the one time they show him killing someone. They might as well have had all the main characters die from slipping on a four separate banana peels the killer left on different sets of stairs.

@@rockinonthemove the term "resolve" in film making doesn't necessarily mean "solving the issue" but rather at least go about to further the conversation/plot around it enough that it has actual meaning or substance that adds to your overall story or even character development. and none of that was done in this movie.
The narrative presented in the movie itself does not simply do enough that the murdered has a moral twist inside of him, instead he appears as an yet another ordinary killer.
I like the idea of the next killer being a copy cat and hearing it from the news because that’s an easy way to find out about him without dragging it out

Yeah, I didn't really like it. I didn't at all get that he was waiting for them to do something wrong before killing them. The racist thing felt like it was trying to be a red herring but it didn't make sense to the plot at all. And I'm fine with a movie that keeps its killer and his motives vague but it needs to be balanced out with the characters being aware of him and toyed with more. I'd compare it to Hush as a movie that also has a killer with no real motive, but Hush balances introducing Maddie and her situation with the killer stalking her much better.
I wish Josh and Michelle would have lived. Mina and Charlie definitely got what was coming to them.

Yeah, I didn't really like it. I didn't at all get that he was waiting for them to do something wrong before killing them. The racist thing felt like it was trying to be a red herring but it didn't make sense to the plot at all. And I'm fine with a movie that keeps its killer and his motives vague but it needs to be balanced out with the characters being aware of him and toyed with more.
I'd compare it to Hush as a movie that also has a killer with no real motive, but Hush balances introducing Maddie and her situation with the killer stalking her much better.
