It takes forever to go from 75% to 100%
That's because when a battery becomes almost full it slows down the charging to extend the life of the battery. If you fast charge it the entire way the battery deteriorates and becomes less efficient

Hello Tony, I have a question, I just bought a Opitma H6 battery for my 2014 Jeep wrangler jku. I just ordered this Optima 400 charger also. My question is, my jeep is a daily driver, I drive about 25 to 30 miles a day. Do I still need to put the charger on it and if so how often? Thank you , great video!
No you shouldn't have to if you drive it daily. Maybe if you have it parked for a week or more but you should be fine

@@Lmlc24 yes it has worked fine. I use my jeep every day so the battery is like new. I put the charger on it a few months ago just for maintenance and it worked just fine.
Can it charge reg batterys ie non optimas?
Yes indeed
We had no idea about the yellow or red tops and thought it would charge in 4 hours. Your video helped us out with that.
Hi Tony!!! i have a question about my digital 400 12 v performance maintainer & battery charger , it quit working ,any reasons of why? any advice or help would be great. the fuse looked ok ,maybe i should cange it out anyway?
How is it just stopped working? Does the screen shows some information?
Good review. looks similar to the hf viking charger. In the maintaining mode is that a desulftor mode or just a very low trickle charger. Northern tool has a small desulftor with a. Maintenance mode.
I believe it's a desulfator with a maintainer but I'll have to double check
Hey David! Have you bought/tried either the Optima 400 or 1200 charger/maintainers? I have an Optima Red Top AGM battery and was thinking about buying the HF Viking charger, but not sure how it works with the Optima batteries. Do you think the Viking is a decent, quality charger/maintainer? If you have an Optima charger now, and had a chance to do your purchases all over again, would you go with the Viking or Optima charger/maintainer? Thanks David!
