i think it’s disingenuous for ucla fans and the media to act like chip wasnt a good recruiter or he wasn’t trying hard enough besides his last recruiting cycle (where if it would’ve lost to usc he would’ve been given his pink sheet) he was an average recruiter for what ucla should expect around 35-60 range nationally but truly he took the prime time route in terms of recruiting mainly building his roster of already grown men through the portal so he was bringing in solid recruiting classes with amazing portal classes i hate the rewriting of history that’s fixing to happen for chips time at ucla
"High up in the hills of Westwood, sprawled offensive to the eye, Lies a Cal extension campus known as Westwood High. High! High! High! Home of all the Bruin bear cubs, UGLY is its name. Its student body's vile, its football team's a pile, And the campus is a shame! ...U! ...G! ...L! ...Y! U! - G! - L! - Y! - Eat my shorts!" USC guy here, too. When I went to Freshman orientation in 1987, the upperclassman who led a campus tour for our group taught us this dubious version of UCLA's fight song. Obviously, I still remember it. 😇 🏈 (Sorry, any Bruins out there.)
Jeff Hafley left BC as a HC for DC of Green Bay Packers. > Same reason !!! -- And Chip tried to get back in the NFL ? None worked out for him. -?- So Obrien takes the BC job allowing the Kelly opening as the OC for Ryan Day -- a very unique situation unlikely to happen very often. 🤔 I think OSU is a big winner here. Many other HC's are likely feeling the same way for the same reasons and may retire early because of it ! - - - A HC - has now evolved and become a CEO position !?! -- And many will hate doing it from now on. I'm certain it's a big part why Saban retired ?!?
Rumor had Chip Kelly interested in the Cincinnati Bearcat HC position last year. I guess UC saw someone who wanted a soft retirement job like when they hired Tommy Tuberville.
UCLA hasn't been good my entire life... San Diego state moving conference and amd their history of success in lower conferences is more interesting to me... chip leaving UCLA sounds like them dropping the ball to interstate competition like they always do.
Your facts about UCLA’s situation are true. Low to no NIL, low attendance, not relevant, not recruiting but you make it sound like a UCLA problem. Furthest thing from the truth. It’s a Chip Kelly problem! He created this bad situation and now he’s jumping ship. He’s 1 game over .500 in his tenure! If he didn’t run off half the team, if he would have tried the blur, if he got off his butt and recruited, if he engaged fans and media and if he promoted NIL he would have been successful. Look at Mora’s 3rd year, UCLA led the PAC-10 in attendance. They were relevant. Chip dug the grave, placed the program in the hole, but he’s not man enough to throw the dirt on and finish the job. He manipulated an inexperienced AD and cowardly stole 6mil a year and killed the program. He’s a coward. He interviewed for positions during recruitment period! He called a buddy and asked for a job to call plays and not recruit or lead a team like he was hired to do at UCLA. Please don’t make it a “UCLA problem”. It’s a CHIP problem!
Chip is very lazy when it comes to recruiting. He wouldn't embrace donor relationships. His play calling in the last season was very suspect. I could go on and on. Glad he is gone. Next up is hopefully the AD leaves soon.

Speaking facts about Chip Kelly!! He’s going to be a great OC
Chef’n up play calls!
Chip didn't have an OC on staff for 2 years and called his own plays. NIL Era of College Football is exhausting and pushing old school HCs out

What if he kept following Tommy’s lead…. 🤔 Chip Kelly running for office… that would be wild.

Chip never tried to win at a high level at UCLA and never recruited, even before NIL. He's one of the worst coaches in school history.
Recruiting coaches that is
