  • How do we explain the fact that in the Bible, Jesus seems to first condemn anger, but then he appears to get angry himself? Is anger ever justified? Is it ever wrong to NOT get angry? Join Fr. Chris Alar, MIC as he explains the answers to these questions. Then hear the amazing story of the mother of a special needs child who shares how God’s Divine Mercy brought her through the anger she felt at her circumstances.
Watch Fr. Chris Alar and the Marian Fathers and Brothers from the National Shrine of Divine Mercy on our new show Living Divine Mercy airing every Wednesday at 6:30pm EST on EWTN. Through teaching segments, Bible and St. Faustina Diary excerpts, as well as real-life examples of people who are living Divine Mercy in their lives, you will learn why Jesus said Divine Mercy is mankind's last hope of salvation! Episode 73: 7 Deadly Sins - Anger vs. Patience.

Fr. Chris, thank you for giving us a thorough understanding of Anger, one of the 7 deadly sins and the transformative virtue of patience as explained by Fr. Anthony. It’s a beautiful feeling on how united you both are, sharing your beautiful thoughts and knowledge for our spiritual growth. The amazing family story shared by Nancy and Mark empowers one to face courageously the painful reality of life’s test and the hidden graces and blessings that accompany it are indeed heaven’s reward for their fervent prayers and deep faith. My heartfelt thanks for their generosity, openness and the lessons we learn. Prayers for all of you and God bless everyone.

My anger is at myself most of the time. I also have let others hurt me both physically and verbally. I am trying to not get angry about what I do. Some things are out of my control. I get angry about little things. Then when something serious happens I don't get angry. I have a difficult time understanding why this is.

An entire spectrum of Catholic human behavior can be mapped along the 10 Commandments based on Aristotlian ethetical imperitives expressed in Roman Catholic Language.
    There are 10 Commandments
    3 Commandments toward God
    7 Commandments toward Humanity
All 10 Commandments need to be properly balanced within the lively virtues: chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility.
When we transgress outside the confines of the lively virtues we enter into realm of the deadly sins: too much/too little pride, too much/too little greed, too much/too little lust, too much/too little envy, too much/too little gluttony, too much/too little wrath, and too much/too little sloth. Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
    Peace in Christ 💝

Nancy’s story really touched my heart. The love she and her husband showed for their son Nicholas was nothing short of exceptional. They did not allow Nicholas to be defined by his disability. Well said Tanya. Some thing I have gleaned from watching this entire series on the Seven Deadly Sins so far is the necessity to cultivate the virtues opposite the seven deadly sins, which are very real evils but are privations of the virtues of humility, chastity, temperance, patience, charity to name a few. I am looking forward to the continuation of the series.

Raging anger that is based on totally losing one’s temper is a horrible emotion. For me I learned this from watching others who lost their tempers and acted out. It took me many years and a lot of difficult moments to finally drop this habit of popping off at everything. I finally came to my senses that I was the one who was wrong for reacting the way I did. In sadness I began my prayer journey. I began meditating on Christ’s passion and how He was unfairly “hooked up” by the systems in place during His time. If anyone should have invoked wrath for humanity’s insolence it would have been our Lord. But He obeyed the Father’s will and died. This is what I have been doing, albeit imperfectly, for almost 15 years, that is, not going into an angry fit with the ones I love. Mind you, my life has been spent around difficult people throughout the years. I am now patient with them and learned how to turn situations around so that no one is hurt. Thank you, Lord, and when I wasn’t listening to you too well, you sent your Mother to me. She has helped me with the gift of the rosary and her advocacy for her Son. God bless everyone.

Handle their persecutions of us -- with prayer. I prayed for a niece-in-law...and at the next gathering she actually came up to me, peacefully, to converse. I was shocked. Who knows? Maybe I was being tested. Doesn't matter. If I keep my serenity...all is well.

What a wonderful message Rev Fr Chris Alar. Our Lord is so gracious to us if only we turn to him in every trying situation. When things go wrong I just say, "Jesus, I know You'll do it Your way though I find it difficult to understand and accept. "" God bless you and your Congregation Rev Fr Chris Alar always Amen

Can someone please explain to me why having a child with a disability is such "devastating news"?
I'm born with Cerebral Palsy. Growing up, all my friends had some kind of disability (fact: most times when Spina Bifida is detected during pregnancy, the doctors still advice abortion. They claim that the child "will not have a quality of life". All my friends with SB turned out living a great life. I'm preparing for the seminary.
My disabilities are my greatest gifts for my priesthood.
We're different. We see the word different. Please, stop saying it's so terrible. THAT makes us more disabled, than the disability itself.

Thank you and God bless you. Sorry maybe the context was misunderstood as we have always said anyone with special needs is a gift to their family and their parents and to the world God bless you in your vocation

As a teacher, I am very angry about how children are being neglected emotionally and spiritually while their parents cavort about like teenagers.
