Great tutorial! Thank you very much! This really helped me get started with launching Kali Linux on AWS. One small suggestion for everyone- to enable remote desktop access (RDP), you might also need to configure the security group to allow RDP traffic on port 3389.

Because this was my problem with my VM Kali machine, I was able to reach only my Pc machine where VM is running.

Very nice. But running a an heavy GUI over the internet, wouldn’t it affect performance?
of course, it depends on the connection quality and the cloud CPU, but the CPU performance isn't affected drastically, your internet connection is the king in this scenario

Hi, I have a oracle free forever account with arm cpu instance. Do you know a crafty way to install kali on it?
You could potentially use Katoolin on an Ubuntu image to install the Kali packages.

Wouldn't they be able to trace your activities if you used a cloud server?
Unless you're using this for malicious purposes which is probably what you were planning then you have nothing to worry about.

Hello. Did anyone solve the issue with the accessing GUI after "rdesktop" command? Having trouble with that and can't move forward
I tried with 1. apt-get install -y kali-desktop-xfce xorg xrdp 2.Opened the inbound security port for RDP in AWS ec2 instance 3.used windows Remote desktop to connect to the ec2 instance using the new user created as per the video -able to login

Are you using the rooted version or the rootless version?. If it's the rooted version you can use your root access to tweak and provide the necessary permissions for nethunter to work. If it's the rootless version then I guess it doesn't have the necessary permissions in android 13 and you have to wait for the developer to make some workaround for it.

@@Teddy-jw2wi Well then it is going to be difficult because android 12 and 13 have added restrictions on storage access and a feature called the phantom process killer is making it worse not just for Termux but for many other apps too. It basically kills an app process on its own if it has high CPU usage. This stops even some common termux commands from functioning properly. Running Kali nethunter as a chroot environment inside the termux app process is going to be difficult. The only way to overcome this problem without rooting is to wait for the developers to try bringing a fix for it

@@rizzeducation Yup. Well aware of that. It looks like tightvncserver doesn't automatically start for some reason.
@@smiller52 After you ssh into it, run tightvncserver -geometry 1024x768
For some reason, it doesn't start automatically in my instance.
Then open another local Terminal window and run the tunnel command and you should be able to VNC into your LOCAL 5901 port which is tunneled to your AWS instance.
