  • Spent a beautiful late September afternoon fly fishing in Montana. Using a Dry-Dropper with a long Euro Nymphing leader was the ticket. The water was shallow and clear. Also, I noticed an occasional bug on top, and a lot of the time, a fish rose for it. The dry-dropper enabled me to cover both the top and underneath. The long euro leader helped keep my fly line off the water, giving me perfect drifts.
I also used my Adjustable Dry-Dropper. This allows you to slide your dry up and down your tippet to dial in the perfect depth for your dropper. It didn't matter what the depth was, as I would adjust.
I had success all afternoon. Cutthroat Trout, Cutbows, Rainbows, and Whitefish. There was never a dull moment on the water. 75% of my success came on top. A size 12 Bionic Ant, a size 12 Jimi Hendrickson (an original pattern of mine), and a size 12 Big Sky Caddis (another original of mine) were the winning flies.
I talk about the technique, give tips on casting, and tips on the adjustable dry-dropper. All the while, fishing a beautiful Montana stream.
Dry-Dropper and Montana...A recipe for success!
    Hope you enjoy it.
