      Austin definitely has so many great places to walk, bike, or take public transportation. The downtown area is especially walkable, and there are plenty of bike lanes and trails throughout the city. But I wouldn’t agree that you don’t need a car in any Texas city lol... • @ramencurry6672
      @ramencurry6672 5 месяцев назад +1

      The downtown area surprisingly has a good bus system and you don’t need a car. However if you need to go to further areas of the city, it’s not like New York where you can hop on a subway or train to travel to the other side of the city. As a result a car would be needed for the farther distances. For airport access, there is a bus (bus route 20) which is good though

      @@Hallo81398 Simply due to the urban design/fabric/makeup of the city as well as most other American cities.
      -Lack of density
      -not many people actually live downtown
      -The city itself is basically a giant suburb
      -The surrounding suburbs where a little over half the population of the area really resides.
      -euclidean zoning and so on.
      -heat is also a factor especially in summer months
      Most American cities are not going to look anything like or resemble NYC with its hustling, bustling, compact nature.

      @@blackhole9961 sounds awful. and NYC also looks like a horrible city. doesn't even have a proper city center for pedestrians. usa doesn't seem to be a place worth visiting. maybe for the nature it is, i don't know

    • @blackhole9961
      @blackhole9961 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Hallo81398 I wouldn't really say awful, its simply just a different society and different way of living. America simply developed different cities post 1950s.
      NYC does have a "city center?" and is very pedestrian friendly Unless you are referring to Austin; which the downtown area is the "city center" and can easily be used by pedestrians as shown in this video.
      Downtown in most American cities is simply a central business district mainly.
      I wouldn't let that discourage you though, if you want to do any excursions just expect them to be scattered about the area and not all focused in the downtown area.
