- Here's the finished 34" Dyna Moe from 1941, designed by the brilliant Wally Simmers. Film shows portions of the first day out trim session, as this bird settled in quickly with very little in the way of tweaking. Love and prayers for our Ukrainian flying friends. Filmed by Tom Hallman & Peter Kaiteris with a Canon PowerShot SX20, a Nikon D3400 70-300mm, & an iPhone 11Pro. Music: "Calling Angels" by Jennifer DeFrayne.

Here's an article I wrote on DTs. Worked perfectly on the Dyna-Moe, using a Badge or Button DT and a Tyvec hinge on the stab. www.hallmanstudio.com/DT.pdf
Hi, the link is not working. Please can you redirect as I have just got the plans for a gollywock and am planning a DT. Thanks
@@johnalesbrook9873 Hi John. I just tried the link and it worked, so I don't know what to tell you. I'll also include a source for the DT mechanism that I use on my Gollywock and other larger ships. It's called the Badge Classic.
Beautiful flight! Thanks for supporting my country!
My blood pressure just went down ten points. Beautiful as always.
Thank you Tom for the 7 minutes of peace, beauty and inspiration. But mostly, for the peace.
A very nice Tribute! Thank you!
Beautiful, your pilot looked happy too ❤️🙏! Thanks for this beautiful moment 😀
This design (in THESE colors no less!) was my first real performance rubber job. I built the plane from a kit and the late, great George Perryman made a folding prop or it. It was heavy but it still flew great. I don't recall what the plane's fate was but I still have the Perryman Mini-blade with its magnesium hub.
Your an amazing craftsman , I enjoy your videos
I love your music choices
Beautiful!
Always a pleasure to watch your planes and flights! The time the DT kicked in was amazing!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful art.
Saludos!!
Wow , thats really beautiful. Having just maidened a 1950's biplane design with a diesel & RC jammed in I'm really starting to love a certain purity of the old time rubber models. Fantastic video & perfect flights
Ahhhh. I needed that Tom. Thank you as always!👍❤️
Thank for your Vids man, very nice----Rob Romash
That is what model flight is all about. Really nice video .
Another well done video, thanks for sharing. It is a real flyer.
Thx, John.
Sweet flying bird. Ukrainian livery noted 👍
Well done for supporting the Ukrainians with this colour scheme.
Oh, Tom. As always.
Simply beautiful, is the LG removable? I thought I saw an access panel on the belly.
Yes, Adam, thx. It was initially held in with small magnets, but the recoil flipped it out, so I've added small bamboo posts that go thru both the plate and the saddle. I wanted it removable for storage. The plan shows it retracting into the fuselage after launch, but for FAC contests, according to rules, the LG needs to be in the down position.
@@maxfliart interesting. That is an issue that I have been dealing with, how to fix the LG on the planes. Like you said storing them makes it easier if they can be removable.
She is a beauty and flies so nicely to my eyes. what would be DT...
DT is a DeThermalizer. It's a system where you use a timer of some sort, to activate the tail so that it angles close to 45º, bringing it down (hopefully) out of a thermal. Here's an article I wrote on the subject. www.hallmanstudio.com/DT.pdf
@@maxfliart Thank you very much!
Beautiful and relaxing 😌 your colour scheme, is in tribute too Ukraine 🇺🇦? I have two red EDF RC jets with stars on Them, that I’ll be repainting to Ukrainian colours!!
Thx. And yes.
Pretty colours
With 65 grams of ballast it seems like you could afford a second wheel.
Thx for the feedback. But I only used 7.5g. The model was around 65g.
@@maxfliart I guess I misread the subtitles.
Hey great Model an Flight , what do you use for operating the DT?..at one time I saw it with Fuse cord and elastic bands !
Thx. I use a Badge or Button DT, with a cord & spring. The entire stab & rudder unit pivots on a Tyvec hinge.
Nice plane and beautiful flights.
Tom, never, never forget the DT, surely you will loose her.
Thx, I took note after the down air nearly pushed her into the ground, then the opposite happened as the thermal moved thru.
Big 'wheew'...
Haha! Khockhol themed plane goes brrrr! Actually, it is so sad when someone who is so far from understanding politics and history, shows his position, even when it's completely unnecessary. So sad that i had to unsub from this great (now not so great) channel.
Beautiful performance from a timeless classic.
Not enough words for your talent and skills. How is it not tail heavy? Big moment arm.
Such a great flying model. I see that you use viscous timers for you dt. We still use mostly burning fuses. The "wind-ups"seem so much more convenient. Are they fairly consistent in your use or does the temperature greatly affect them?
I've been pleased with the current crop of the viscous timers (link is in the film description). Temperature can surely affect the timer, so it's wise to test each day at the field. But it sure is safer than the fuse type, which become a fire hazard in some locations.
Excellent!
Love the videos thank you.
Please can you help explain why the propeller early on during the flight seems to be hardly turning. While later in the flight it is spinning faster? Thanks
Thx. That's just a trick of the eye, or the strobe effect, that happens via the camera's shutter speed. The prop indeed is spinning quickly throughout the entire flight.
Well
👍👍👍
Very nice flights. I have one it never lets me down
Thx Mike. I was looking forward to this session, especially since the Gollywock has proven to be such a great flyer from the same family. I have my eyes on the Jabberwock. If uv built one, how does it compare to the Dyna-Moe?
I'm convinced that planes which have these extra vertical stabs are often capable of finding the just right circumstance, in re extra wind, even gusty wind, to be EXACTLY diametrically opposite to its direction; this translates to finding lift. What a superb flyer this looks. A real inspiration & insight as always! Thanks for this, the Aolian Mode piano suits the flying conditions! 👍
Wow, I had one of those when I was young. One of my uncles, who was in the Army Air Corps built it for me.
Beautiful classic lines, and up to your superb build quality.
Beautiful, she really wants to fly.
What are you using for a DT?
I use a Badge or Button DT, with a cord & spring. The entire stab & rudder unit pivots on a Tyvec hinge.
@@maxfliart where do you find these timers?

A simple classic beauty.
Noel
Thx, Noel. This was my first time out this year, so I was really pleased to see her come into form on the first day. I have a pair of sunrise flights coming with the Dyna-Moe & Gollywock. The Dyna-Moe just barely made her first ROG....thankfully! And the Golly nearly out flew the field in 1-2 mph wind....woo... Huge flight. Film later this week.
Really beautiful, Tom!
Thx, Duke. I love her look in the blue!
