- Tyler Perry made history this weekend with the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios. Perry is the first black American to own a major film studio outright. The Atlanta film complex spans 330 acres with12 sound stages - larger than the Burbank, California lots owned by Warner Brothers, Paramount, and Walt Disney Studios combined. “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King spoke to Perry in Atlanta about the historic moment. Tyler me and my mom are coming before she turns 72 all her funny moments are still on the rise her dementia has challenged her for 8 years and I carry her everywhere with me. She was excited to take that picture with you when you did your show in Jacksonville Fl. We love you and are very proud of all your accomplishments. Keep it moving 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I love Tyler Perry and all of the characters he created! I had spinal surgery in 2011 and was watching a “Madea Marathon” from from my hospital bed. I was so enthralled with the movie, I almost forgot l was in pain. But I did literally pop two stitches from laughing. I guess Tyler Perry made me bust a gut! I

The one thing I love about his movies- particularly the Madea movies is that they are family friendly (to a point)...there's a few adult jokes or a cuss word in there, but by the end of the movie there's a family oriented message that comes full circle. Madea is just pure comedy gold, haha!
