Thanks! As we just discussed on my video, that’s the normal behavior of an audio taper volume into a clean low volume amp. You get more range into a loud dirty amp. A linear would be much less “drastic” for clean amp use but it’s harder to use with a dirty amp. I’ll be doing a video on this subject and treble bleeds vs 50s wiring soon.
Thanks Lyle! I'm looking forward to learning more on the subject. You're definitely right. Plugged-in to my 18W TMB amp there's a LOT more range. In fact, with my AB763 amp cranked up a bit with a distortion pedal added there's also a lot more range. Clean, it's definitely a bit different than what I'm used to out of my tele or strat. Overall, this is so much better and usable than the stock wiring - it's more of what I'd expect to have when picking up a guitar with this pickup config. This Revstar is such a great sleeper guitar for the money. I still can't get over how great of a build it is!
Well, your Fenders have better volume pots than the Yamaha does. Not all “audio taper” pots have the same taper, and the little Alpha 16mm has a pretty drastic one. Just know if you upgrade the pot you might need to change the knob too.
@@PsionicAudio I installed full-sized CTS pots on my RSS20 and noticed the same issue with the pots. However, the improvement in tone is significant and definitely worth it. For the volume knob, I used a slightly oversized drill bit to drill out the splines in the original knob. Then, I gently heated the plastic inside with a heat gun and pressed it onto a spare pot to create new splines. It fits perfectly and looks original.😀 The tone knob fits fine in the oversized pot since it is screw-tightened.

It has a nice warmth to those P90s. Im not yet convinced about the 5-way switch, though, and that pull knob.
@@Mr_Bio_Hazard yeah, I’d like it better with a standard 3-way switch.
Sounds very nice!
