Really agree with your thoughts.. I’m trying one right now (a friend of mine bored me one for a week) and I’m only using it in my Samsung tablet (because the usb-c, my iPhone have the lightning too) and it’s working very well! Enjoy how they sound (default and the tilt EQ) .. but I’m not a huge fan of how they sound in 3.5 cable, so when I want to go too somewhere else in the house, I’m stuck in a 12inch tablet under my arm…
I don’t have the quelix (?) only a btr15, so not EQ for me ..
really enjoy your review .. all the points are very clear
Like the sound whit the usb-c.
Never listen the davinci .. maybe I will try it ! The fun and interesting girl !

I guess I'm not getting your argument. You already have these dongle DACS which you are using for all your other IEMs (which makes them sunk costs), and Crinacle is giving you the option of foregoing them entirely by just using the DSP cable which you admit sounds very good indeed. The fact the cable is USB C means it won't work with your I Phone without a lightning adaptor, but then again neither will anything else including your dongle DACS. And your behind the head cinch is not the way 99 percent of IEM users use their cables, but to each his own. Bottom line, I think, is the Dusk does not fit your use case which seems somewhat unusual to me, but it may fit others.
I own the Dusk, and I use it with my LG V20 (and I won't switch out of it because I love that I can swap out batteries, and don't need to ever take it out of commission while it's on a charger). That phone is an Android and I just use the default DSP tuning on the cable, so I never mess with the app, which I hear is a shit show, but so what? Like I said I feel no need to use it, so no harm, no foul. The cable has a near perfect tuning, and I've found that using USB Audio Player Pro android app with its digital PEQ allows me to add additional filters to the stock tuning on the cable. So I add a plus 2 db bass shelf at 200 hz, a plus 1 db bass shelf at 50 hz, and a minus .5 db high shelf at 400 hz. With those three added filters stacked on top of the filters already in the Default DSP setting on the cable, I have a very nearly ideal tune. Moreover, the cable powers the Dusk very well: It plays loud enough for me with inaudible distortion and noise levels. I hear no digital artifacts, and I like that I don't have a dongle hanging off my USB C data port. And the Dusk just sounds killer!
So for me, the Dusk is a near ideal fit for my use case, and I suspect it may be for many others as well. I think the Dusk is a lot like active speakers for audiophiles. With actives it's possible to do a whole lot of tuning which is impossible with passives, but lots of old-timey audiophiles eschew them because they want to go through the process of matching speaker-amp-dac to their individual preferences. It's what they grew up on, and they don't want to give up their system building process. But if you tell them they can just buy LS 50 Wireless II's and get a complete system perfectly matched and tuned, you may get a lot of push back. I understand. I also own LS 50 Metas and built my own system with SVS subs, Purifi Amps, and Dirac DSP, let;s face it, that's the hard way. Something like Wireless II's and Crinacle Dusk's is far easier and will yield fantastic results.
