That why I tell people she's not a talented teenage singer - she a talented singer, a talented artist, period. Her songs are more worth listening to than any current singer I know in their 20s and 30s. And in her interviews since 13, she's more articulate and insightful and interesting - and fun - than a lot of entertainers of any age.

"I'd rather just live my life than feel like I disappointed myself [...] It's crazy, I have a lot of time, but the world's attention span is so short." Truly someone worth admiring. So many other people in the spotlight have sort of lost a part of them that makes them human; Grace having not only held onto that part of her, but having also made it a guiding force both in her personal development and her lyrical muse, is genuinely inspiring.
Here is perfect chemistry between interviewer and interviewee. He is informed and makes his guest comfortable, allowing us to appreciate her intelligence and personality. He asks probing questions but always with a great deal of probity. She responds with candor but also with a great deal of humor. Two super talented people doing their thing together, with rapport and banter that allow people of all ages to join in the fun.
Agree totally. Zack actually did his homework and is obviously a fan. What a great change from the typical mouth breathers fed questions by producers and really know little or nothing about her. Throughly enjoyed this.
I could listen to Grace being interviewed for literally hours. If I were "King" Grace would be declared a National Treasure to be protected at all costs.
Notice Grace didn't say "er" or "um", she just talked straight from her brain with no need for verbal fillers. Fantastic skills for a 15 year old. One hour isn't enough; let's go with at least 3 hours. Luv it.
I agree that's she's an intelligent and well spoken young lady but what you've just said is completely false. She does have verbal fillers and her most prominent one is the word _like._ She also has "um" in this very interview, in the very first few minutes. Even *_Peter Joseph_* has verbal fillers and he's the most eloquent person I've ever seen(try to youtube him to see what I mean), and I've seen a lot of good public speakers. There's no need to lie to emphasize how smart she is for her age and in general, it's apparent to everyone, just keep it real. Cheers.
@@TngMutantNinjaTroll Well, whoever you are, since you have no name, I didn't notice any verbal fillers. I'm not saying that Grace doesn't have them occasionally. But with most people, being asked in-depth, deep questions, even adults, there are usually obvious, repetitive verbal ticks(fillers) that people tend to fall back on. This is especially the case with most younger people. I think that, is the gist of what 'platobird' was saying. No need to call someone a lier when the crux of their statement is actually valid. Verbal ticks and fillers tend to irritate me, so I normally notice them. I really didn't notice many in this interview. You said that his statement was "COMPLETELY" False. I think that that statement of yours is an overstatement, and therefore 'Somewhat' false. Just saying that you noticed a few fillers would have conveyed your point. Just sayin.
@@bobbyrose7984 3:42 7:41 and a really long one 8:28 are just a few in first 10 minutes, and that's not counting the word "like" which is also a verbal filler and is used extensively. Verbal fillers are *completely normal* and *every* person has them. Grace is still an extraordinary girl on so many levels, and this is not me downplaying her intelligence in any way. However, when someone says _"Notice Grace didn't say "er" or "um", she just talked straight from her brain with no need for verbal fillers."_ it actually IS (completely) false. It's also false to say that for any person. My English is hardly perfect but I'm very particular when it comes to the words I use and the word _completely_ is accurate in this case despite actually being redundant and used only for emphasis. It's redundant because; when it comes to objective truth(the one every observer can agree upon), there are only two states: true and false. Those terms are absolute/complete as they are in such context. As such _somewhat_ false wouldn't even make sense. My point was not that there are fillers. My point was that there's no need to attribute someone with downright impossible traits to express your admiration when they are already amazing as they are, even with their imperfections, especially if we all share those imperfections. My point was to keep it real. Thank you for your response and your time and have a nice day.
The word "like" is a common teenage word, and fits in many sentences. Yeah, Grace say "um", but it's not like she was searching for words. Her verbal flow is so smooth that I didn't notice the um's.@@TngMutantNinjaTroll
@@platobird It is quite common yes. It's one of the most common verbal fillers among teenagers and even some adults. I also agree about her flow, her _um-s_ are barely noticeable unless you pay attention because your focus is shifted to what she's saying. A pleasant color of her voice also helps with that. The word _like,_ on the other hand, is much easier to notice due to sheer frequency of use but, again, it's very common among people her age and people tend to pick up verbal ticks of others around them and their peers on social media. It's an acquired thing but it's purpose is actually the same as any other verbal filler; to give brain a chance to catch up and organize a response without giving an impression of being finished with speaking. Regardless of intellect, fillers are used by every person in the world, they only sound differently from person to person and vary in frequency. Frequency can be lowered by effort and practice of speaking techniques but it can never completely eliminated.

It's amazing watching Grace stand toe to toe with Zach Sang to carrying the interview along. Even eclipsing Sang throughout the interview. This was the most in-depth interview to date, and Grace performed with great adeptness and humor.
I'm hearing this interview 11 months after the fact and am absolutely gobsmacked. Grace has introspection and wisdom beyond her age. I've heard a number of songwriters asked about their songwriting process and there's very little they're able to articulate. It's more like a black box process that they can't explain. But Grace was able to explain various facets of it in an understandable way. It's interesting hearing her describe industry professionals pressing songwriters to limit themselves to certain topics. I'm not surprised, considering how banal the songwriting of "mainstream music" has become in general. Kudos to Grace for insisting on quality in her art. The tradeoff is that the suits won't push to get her music into the mainstream bcuz they (wrongly) believe that everyone wants to hear the same boring subjects in every damn song. The discussion about production was interesting too. What 13-15 year old has the ability and confidence to (1) insist that she have final say in production, (2) do the production and (3) reject songs and production that she considers sub-par. Wow. Grace, you are a unicorn.
She is such an intelligent young woman. I knew the first time I saw her there was something incredibly special about her and she keeps on proving me correct. You just keep on being you Grace. ❤️❤️
Every media platforms needs to learn from this interview. Don't limit Grace to a time limit when giving Grace interviews. It's when you get the real Grace answering your questions honestly. I can listen to this interview for hours and on repeat. This is the fifth time I watched this interview. Lol. And it won't be the last time.
Wow! We learned more about what makes Grace tick in this interview. This amazing young lady becomes more interesting with her poise, honesty and natural ability to capture your heart. She can entertain when talking about any subject. What hit me on this interview was how she feels the need to be with fellow teens in school but realizes that she is apart from them because of her worldly experiences. And how she handles it. No matter what path(s) she chooses she will be successful because of her abilities to understand the world around her. She continues to impress.
Gosh, I love hearing her talk. She's got such a beautiful voice and is so articulate. She's an old soul -- I relate, I always got along with older people too.
This has been the most interesting interview… Grace (a really approprate name) is a fascinating person wise far far beyond her years. I'm 77 and am discovering that here is someone who really has something to say and knows how to express herself in ways that leave nothing out to the listener. I have never experienced an interview that has left me so impressed with the interviewee's ability to anwer any question so succinctly. I am in awe of this bright, engaging young woman.
What a great interview! People follow Grace like they do a reality show! Not since Shirley Temple as there been a child protege to transcend music and acting arts. . We all grow up, and this interview is so cool to ‘retreflect’ and makes me think what she could BE beyond... A UN Spokesperson, an Ambassador, an executive, a teacher.
John Gamba ... there's something special in the art, lyrics, voice and music of Grace, she has wisdom far beyond her age of course, but also the ease and humor to talk about, singing like the greatest ladies of folk and jazz, grounded in the blues guided by timeless poetry and deep insights in human behaviour. You have to go back in music history several centuries to find similarties.
I love this girl. So cool, calm and collected, down to earth and a little kooky. Her music makes me happy. Her personality makes me smile. Her voice is basically asmr. Great interview. Hope to get to meet her and chat one day.
Alright, this is the best interview with Grace to date, period. Well done Zach. You were able to get her to open up while still being supportive and gracious with her.....Oh and it's "Wonder PaRk". Just sayin'. BTW: I've watched this interview 3 times, all 56+ minutes. I'm sure I will come back to it many more times.
I had read the book for Stargirl back in 2016 and loved it. And now Grace is playing the lead. Like 1. That's so cool 2. What kind of coincidence is that lol
A wonderfully insightful interview. Grace comes across as such a lovely, down-to-earth person. A great sense of humor as well. Zach has done a great job of asking the right questions and letting her tell her stories. Absolutely captivating. She deserves success in all she does.

Love this gracefull girl who doesn't need a name, she's not clay or a gossip girl..just always herself.. she maybe a little insane sometimes but when she strays.. she's a beautiful thing .. an evolving artist who doesn't know she is .. "stargirl" ! :) - a poetic comment to say thanks Zach Sang Show for a great grace interview!
She inspired me to learn the ukulele. I am definitely not advanced at all, but I can play the basic chords and I am proud of myself. Grace is the one I have to thank for that. Thank you, Grace. You are very special!💖

Grace is a beautiful, talented, incredible girl. She is so smart and humble. She is so kind! I saw her live on the Imagine Dragons tour. I went just for her and she just couldn't thank the Imagine Dragons enough for the opportunity they had given to her. She was so humble and I personally don't think she gives herself enough credit for how much talent she has and for how much beautiful work she has created. 💖💖💖
Zack, this has to be the very best Grace V interview I've ever had the pleasure of watching! It drew me right in, was totally engaging and the questions were downright phenomenal!! KUDOS to you!!
The word Grace comes from Greek mythology and comprises many qualities, e.g. beauty, poise, charm, playfulness, and an easy, natural elegance. Some things in life are meant to be and Grace is Fate at its best!
This was definitely her best, most intelligent interview to date. Thank you for giving this amazing young woman the time and respect she so richly deserves and has earned. Well done! 👍👏
Wow wow wow I’ve watched every Zach sang interview- I love Ariana I love Madison beer till the day I die- but THIS girl at 15 YEARS OLD is just the epitome of passion, self awareness, and she carries herself in a way that is so ahead of her time. You can tell she just loves her craft and I wish her nothing but the best!
This!! This is why myself and my family love Grace. Great interview!! Exposing the roots of her beautiful brilliant music and Grace so willingly, innocently and honestly complying.
Musician, songwriter, singer, actress... and what a storyteller! I would not be surprised if the art form you try out next is literature, Grace. This interview was refreshing and reassuring to watch - that there are teenagers like you out there (talented, intelligent) and it's great that you were born into a family where this amazing creativity of yours can blossom. Well done, you and your team; greetings from the Netherlands. PS- also great to see the interaction between the speakers of this interview: you managed to keep up with one another's jokes/ideas and take the conversation further, at a fast pace, but easy to follow, balancing it together between serious and entertaining the whole time.
Fantastic interview. Grace is one of the few child stars I see staying grounded and being true to herself and her art. I hope that she doesn't allow the corporate media take advantage of her and her fame. It appears to me, that her parents have not become the atypical celebrity stage parents that push their child to reap the rewards. Love your music, love your attitude, keep up the great work. Just a note, I am 60 and adore your charm and charisma and music, just to let you know you span the generations. You have been blessed, be sure to give credit where it is do.
Grace is such a natural, amazingly amazing celebrity that can top anyone (in my personal opinion, for her age). For a 15 year old, she’s got such a great mindset about what she loves and is passionate about it. Such an outgoing person. Also, her IQ seems very high. She’s really in depth and explicit about what she is saying. Her speech is a lot more superior than most adult celebrities, or adults in general. Grace has to be one of the best people I look up to as a role model. I idolize her for so many reasons. Her soothing voice is also another admiration I absolutely love! Grace is by far my favorite celebrity.
I love that too Grace because in my culture this is what we did. Names changed fairly often, from an achievement or from a spiritual quest, major life change etc and it was always deeply meaningful
I never download youtube videos but I did with this one. Watched it while on a bus trip. Best interview to-date topping those with Elvis Duran. Splending job to the interviewer.

Grace, you are a unicorn.
i love that she fought to sing Clay on AGT because that was my fav song of hers from her AGT days.
Same here. Yeah
Very smart girl. Her parents are so proud of her.
@Joseph Hargrove I have watched this at least 7-8 times. Lol
Not that I didn't realize it to an extent from her songs, but she is even deeper than I had already thought.
Zach you are one dang good interviewer, you have dug deeper than any one before has.
This is the best interview of Grace I’ve found! Zack did a great job, wish he would do it again now that Grace is 19. Would be awesome!
She's so amazing, and he's such an excellent interviewer
Extraordinary interview. Grace dazzles with her personality
I love her so much she is so talented, humble, wise, and funny! This is one of my favorite interviews!
You said that wrong its wonder park bro lol
I had read the book for Stargirl back in 2016 and loved it. And now Grace is playing the lead. Like 1. That's so cool 2. What kind of coincidence is that lol
I love how Grace is so wise beyond her years but at the same time she doesn’t try to be older than she actually is?
Okay, this was 4 years ago, but…what?
A wonderfully insightful interview. Grace comes across as such a lovely, down-to-earth person. A great sense of humor as well. Zach has done a great job of asking the right questions and letting her tell her stories. Absolutely captivating. She deserves success in all she does.
Man I wish I was that grounded at 15. We know now it is the label that is holding back on radio play, I always wondered that. Great interview.
What a great interview! A lot of times I had to play back because I didn’t wanna miss even a word being said in this interview. Thank you for interviewing Grace. “I don’t care if I don’t get #1, I just love.to make music” - that’s the way to do it Grace, for your millions of fans, all your songs are #1s! 😃
Sooooooo true. #1
OK so if you are a fan this is MUST listen Grace time! There is so much new here and she is so very present, relatable, smart, funny, humble, beautiful. I was so surprised at how much new info she shares, more details about things we already know...wow! Just watch this! Go Grace!
I'm Watching!! Always!!!🌹🎶🎶
Wow, I am really impressed how well spoken and reflective she is. And, to be fair, the host is really good. Very nice chemistry and very interesting insights in song writing and ukulele playing. :D
agree completely.. good natural fun interview that allowed us to hang with grace & discover some insights to her creativity!
Driving today I saw an amazing sight! GRACE! on a BILLBOARD! I felt so happy for her and asking blessings for her future. All the best to you, Grace.
This is the best interview of Grace I have ever seen very in depth funny and gives us a real close up look of Grace and her feelings... Good job Zach have her back soon!!
Hi, isn't this just the best ever interview?
@@Sartorri4666 YES!😂
Great job Zach. One of the best Grace interviews to date.
And doesn't Grace look, Beautiful, gorgeous, cute, stunning and hot af too!! 😍😍🔥 🔥 🔥

Hey @Zach Sang Show can you remove this creep?
perv alert perv alert
Bo Diddley UHHHH YEAHHH
Love Grace and her unique talent. Zach Sang is such skilled interviewer. Keep up the awesome work you two!!
17:10 This is what makes GV Amazing....This Young Woman is so smart, well spoken, and grounded. Truly gives me hope for the younger generation.
Wow this is the best interview anyone has given grace ever
This is absolutely the best interview of Grace I have seen and the fact it's almost an hour-long makes it even better. Terrific job Zach.
Mlle Grace Vanderwaal ,what a beautiful person !
Thanks for this beautiful and smart interview Mr Sang !
From France !
She is so real and intelligent.
This was definitely her best, most intelligent interview to date. Thank you for giving this amazing young woman the time and respect she so richly deserves and has earned. Well done! 👍👏
Thank you Zach for letting us see more of Grace be Grace. Good questions and enough time for her to answer them. Well done!
Incredibly genuine and super intelligent. Such a natural talent.
Do you listen to Grace's songs
Her voice is so soothing
Let's not loose sight of the importance of her FAMILY that allowed her to grow, encouraged her to be herself etc.
She has a Great family that truly supports her!!!
Grace has a great family and that helps her be a better person, but there are great people who had terrible parents who still became extraordinary.
I really like that; that’s so true!
Special thanks to her grandma financing her first uke ;-) .
PS- also great to see the interaction between the speakers of this interview: you managed to keep up with one another's jokes/ideas and take the conversation further, at a fast pace, but easy to follow, balancing it together between serious and entertaining the whole time.
i love the rawness about this interview
She is more beautiful everyday. She is so wonderful, just love her so much!!
You're amazing Grace. So mature and wise for your age.
A most revealing & fun interview: her AGT experience, her writing process then & now, filming Stargirl, on & on. Good questions. Thank you!
Thankyou zack for inviting grace . I love her and I believe that she is definitely going to make hit records in coming future . She is ahmazing
i could keep watching her for hours and hours. Love this interview.
What a beautiful person Grace is
Yay! She is finally doing an interview on the Zach Sang show! His interviews are always more in depth, which I like. GO GRACE! I LOVE YOU!💖
This is the BEST interview with Grace, EVER. Thank you!
Until just now, I have never been able to listen to a teenage girl talk for so long! What an amazing young lady. She is a gem. Beautiful inside and out.
Love that interview, really brought out Grace's beautiful and intelligence personality! New music next month, can hardly wait, whooohoo!!
Totally agree!!
Definitely the best interview I‘ve seen so far with Grace (and I‘ve seen all of them, like every FanderWaal). Thank you so much for this fine hour. Good questions, a once again brilliant, humble, smart and enchanting Grace, wise and eloquent beyond her years. This was an absolute pleasure.
she is just smart and very wise beyond her age
Best interview of Grace I have seen because you did not make the mistakes most interviewers make - underestimating Grace’s talent and underestimating her intelligence.
Grace Vanderwaal a truly sublime artist, free and unfettered, remaining true to herself and her art. A true free spirit that will take flight and capture the world. LOL if she chooses to do so
In the 3 yrs that I have watched every and anything that has to do with grace I have to say that was the best interview ever I mean #1 this interview will be hard to beat. You did an awesome job and gRACE iN mY sPACE always love her.
Interview was so long but seemed to fly by.
I thought and hoped he was going to ask if anyone has asked her if they could record some of her "bad" songs. im sure there are other artists out there who would love to get their hands on her "bad" songs.
@@jyee2217: Yeah, I did think about that. That's the practical side of my brain working, obviously not the artistic, esoteric side. It's the side that looks at the financial gain from it whereas Grace is such a purist and she places a high value on her craft and art. Very impressive and commendable!
Definitely the best interview I have ever seen of her. Good job bro! Hope you invite her more often! #1HourAgain
My attention span to grace is eternal
Your rapport with Grace was so cool and put her at ease immediately 👊... her poise, wit, and intelligence was awesome to watch, reminds me of Chloë Grace Moretz, the same quick intellect... thank you for giving us all a better insight into the mind of Grace VanderWaal 🎶
A great in-depth interview. Thank you for this!
God bless me i have my sbi clerk mains exam coming up in 8 days and i am actually binge watching all of grace interviews and songs. Starting from AGT days till now.
Great interviewer. Great job going deep and really having a heart to heart talk and connection.
