Man what a great review. I wanted this figure so badly and I still do however I feel like he’s suppose to be an army builder since in the movie there’s almost endless amounts of him and at that price ain’t no way I could afford more than 2 right now

Have him still sealed since he's my favorite movie villain. But I don't know if the finish will start to chip/dull even inside the box. Better enjoy the figure while it lasts.

Sort of half-disagree with your assessment on Cooler's color scheme. I do think the teal comes from the reflection of Namek, and the fact that it persists indoors is just a result of him being designed with his appearance on Namek in mind as his main look. Concepts were made and a color was picked for the people in charge of coloring and shading to adhere to, and I just think that was carried through, even when it didn't apply and in that way became his de-facto color scheme, even if at one point it was deliberately conceived to take that reflection into account. Having established that, I imagine the outlier shots just didn't factor into their consideration at the time, or they overlooked it, or they didn't think it was worth correcting.
That's as far as I disagree, though. The fact of the matter is that he's now known for that color, and in every piece of material, just about, he's had that teal hue. Therefore, having that be a part of the figure is probably indeed the preferable option, since that's how most people know him and remember him. Even if it's just "ah, he was reflecting Namek", the fact of the matter is that people think of Metal Cooler as being teal in their mind's eye, and giving them a silvery desaturated version that is "technically correct" is probably the inferior option.
Otherwise, this is a really difficult figure to judge. He looks good, he moves pretty well, but... it's just scary, and not fun. He's beautiful, but is it worth the consternation and dread you feel when posing him? Probably not. If I wanna be optimistic, there could be a version later on that is more flat metallic teal, like the hands. Unfortunately, if it is, it'd be the con exclusive, most likely. Even if it'd be great as a budget version you can army build.
Personally, this is my least favorite of the Coolers. The Mecha and Metal thing just never did much for me for both Frieza and Cooler. My favorite version of Cooler is the Final Form, and I'm super happy with him, but I'd still like a 4th form. Hopefully, they saved the 3D sculpts for him and are able to adjust it (hands, feet, waist/crotch, tail) for a 4th form, because I'd be really keen on it. The sculpt is stellar and the engineering is serviceable to good for the most part.

Well put thanks! Interesting you read the color that way, I guess it's kind of artist outcome vs (reasonably inferred) intent. Maybe they were even given notes or refs from Toei, but if so it's such a quirky, long-lasting oopsie to have a character whose "technically accurate" appearance never appears in his own film.
Completely agree on the figure. If I didn't find a handful of little scratches while filming, I might have felt differently by the end. I'm trying to think of another beautiful, well-made figure that's so fun-resistant, but I can only think of the not so well-made ones. SHF Guts came to mind, but his design just screams fiddly, not entirely well-made, and doesn't give the same feeling of "I might be slowly destroying the figure by touching it." Maybe some mafex or other lines that are more susceptible to paint rub?
When they do get around to 4th form Cooler, I hope they make Salza too and find a way to give Piccolo some stretchy arms.
