I've recently got the GTE, and when I turned the radio on, I was so disappointed. I had my playlist ready for weeks. So sad. What a crappy sound! Pity, because the rest of the car is ok. Sweet! Honestly, those reviews are the highlight of my week (it's sad, I know...). Don't even care how boring the cars are. Any chance reviewing Hyundai Ioniq EV in the future? (gen 1, not the fancy new one)
Bought the Passat Alltrack, with the upgraded stereo, thankfully doesn't have the issues from this review, but good to be aware of. 1000% agree that it's exactly what you expect out of a car. It's robust, quiet, and totally unsurprising. For me that's a feature, given the miles I have to do, but if you want fun, look elsewhere.
Another one who did not understand the GTE at all...which is not too surpresing, since test only for some hours... Drive the second now in 7 years. In GTE Mode you never run out of battery and is kept at 50%. If the Battery was empty, it will be recharged to 50% by the engine to have always electric Power in GTE Mode. And yes, it is sporty...it is about 1s faster from 80 to 120 km /h than the TDI which is a huge difference. You buy three Cars in one...a pure electric for short distance, a Hybrid for relaxing Cruise and a sporty one in GTE Mode...sporty only in GTE Mode and DCC available.
Hey like a Passat, but like you said I'd prefer an arteon, one of the best looking cars onsale! I do love your reviews, the humour goes a long way!! 😂 Keep it up!!
Great review as always, factual and entertaining, which is how it should be. Passat's are a good car, a safe buy but just lacking a bit of flair, a 3 series touring would be my shout!
Arteon is offered only as an estate now, I think? They don't offer hatchback - or as people up in the grim North would call it (seems like, like), liftback - anymore.
Good review, thanks. A colleague had one of these in 2018 and it seemed a nice, plush place to be. Now it seems they're a generation behind the Golf (in terms of the infotainment system) and it makes me ask why I'd pay more for a Passat over an Octavia. As an aside and as an ex-southerner I'm no expert but I thought the normal friendly name calling for people from Suderland was "sand dancers". Please excuse my ignorance :-)
I imagine that car reviews are getting harder to do with cars that are perfectly perfunctory but a little bit "grey ". I get that the passat doesn't really stand out enough these days but maybe it's target customers just want a biggish, comfy, family and stuff lugger. But then again they're probably gunna get an Octavia or superb estate? I enjoyed the review tho Mark but the Passat was averagely forgettable . It's all relative tho I suppose. My son in law has a fiat tipo estate as a company car (yeah I know),I'm sure he would be over the moon if he could swap for the Passat. For some it will be the best car for them.
@@robsampson5046 Non PHEV in all cases. Rear passenger space, rear boot seats up and down space, if optioned from factory pull up net behind the FRONT seats when rears flat. Parcel shelf goes under boot floor (why do so few cars do this it's such a useful feature) , cooled seats although the Arteon might have these now and of course people saying you paid how much for a Skoda :-)
You always force me to watch carefully for the "text" inserts to find the easter egg. Disappointing, if there ain't any. But tom Cruise sprang to my eye.
no passats are very very very good cars, and ultra reliable. For me thow they only 1 thing i did was rip out the infotainment system, as its S~~~E. And what nots being said to use that infotainment system ect ect blah blah maps, thingy me bob, vw helps, blah guess what you have to pay to use the bloody thing, guess what NOT Happening, and yes its gone its garbage. now i have a lovely pioneer full set up in its place and its a total dream to use and im not paying anybody hoorahh. but for me i love it the car and no problems, super reliable motor.
Why am I wasting 16 minutes of my life watching a passat review? Cos Mark's doing it.
