This song is one of the two song taka sang tribute to his friend in other band, Pay Money To My Pain ( PTP ). The vocalist of PTP known as K' passed away in 2013 also a long time friend of taka. There's two song of paying tribute to K' which is this one smiling down and the other one is the crossover between PTP X Taka from one ok rock - Voice. The song is one of the most both heartbroken and beautiful song I ever heard

I'd also recommend the song Voice, sang by taka in collaboration with the band Pay Money to my Pain. Their vocalist sadly passed away and Voice was produced in his memory.

This song was made for Taka’s late friend, Kei Goto (or simply K), lead singer of fellow Japanese band Pay money To my Pain, who died of acute heart failure in the morning of December 30, 2012.
You know there's always those songs that make you want to cry..... I have so many of those in my playlists but this one is one of the few that actually brings tears to my eyes :(
Thanks for your reaction, this is a great song, Taka admitted that performing it was difficult for him (perhaps emotionally) As far as I know, Toru is actually the one who wrote the demo for this song, he's also the one who wrote the demos for a lot of the good songs that make up the trademark of One Ok rock ( clock strikes, chaosmyth, Mighty Long Fall, We are......etc) , and it's a bit funny that people just know that he wrote Living Doll, find old interviews with the band, where they discuss every single track on each album, they're very interesting. Unfortunately, the last few albums Toru really don't participate in composing much anymore. Maybe it's because he's busy producing songs for other artists, or he thinks Taka is doing a great job hahah.😇😇
.. have you checked/reacted to Pay Money To My Pain already ? the song "Smiling Down" Taka wrote tribute to the vocal, K .. if you haven't, check their song, "Pictures" or/and "Rain" ? also Taka wrote the lyrics & sang the song called "Voice" which is also tribute to K.. the band, P.T.P. wrote the song, I think, and the song is like 8 min long but you don't feel long at all.. esp, I want you to listen to the guitar.. really heartbreaking .. (no OOR. it's P.T.P w/Taka on vocal after K passing. K suffered from physical & mental health thus the name of their band. at the end he was hospitalized, I think due to some kind of heart failure .. thou he had been depressed, I do think he rather have wanted to stay alive..)
