Ahh Relay Soul. A few weeks ago I played against someone who summoned Duck Dummy with it. Then used Duck Dummy's Gemini effect to summon it again. Essentially making it to where they couldn't lose the game. Luckily I was playing Abyss Actors. So it was only a matter of time before I got my spell card that bounced their entire field without targeting. I was able to use my field spell to cause them to destroy it while it was face down. So that effect would activate.
Cards with highly unique stat lines. Dragon Core Hexer would be a great example since it has 3000 DEF (tied for highest among all Normal monsters) and it's a level 8 Tuner. Could also include other cards with highly unique combinations of type and attribute.
Bird of Paradise Lost is another Level 8 Tuner but it actually has a good Change of Heart effect by discarding another Tuner, then it gains ATK for every Tuner in the grave so the cost also helps it. You could use Battle Tuned on another Bird of Paradise Lost discarded by this effect to double it's ATK or summon it with the effect of Cheepcheepcheep for an easy Level 9 Synchro.
Something interesting about Teirra, source of destruction is that it works *surprisingly* well in traptrix, to the point that I usually play 1-2 copies of it as traptrix can very easily get 10 cards of diffrent names on the feild and in your hand due to their trap setting and swarming (kinda). It's fun to be playing traptrix and suddenly summon a board reset outta nowhere.
A bunch of girls who control the forest full of traps for passerby’s to fall into then summon the ancient god Tierra to end the world by committing ritual suicide with their land… that’s the image I got with this combination

Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth seems really really cool! If I spent money on Master Duel I would love to get a deck with her as the focus I think it would be really fun
Tierra was an evil force sealed by Sophia. The similarities Avida has to them implies a connection between Duel Terminal, the Zefra-Infernoid-Qli story, and World Legacy.
I thought the Zefra infernoid Qli was already Duel Terminal, then Zefra Metaltron implies the True DracoSlayer storyline is connected basically making the storylines spanning 5ds to end of Vrains connected
@@Xeno-The-Wanderer Dracoslayer storyline lack Star God, would be anaesthetically pleasing if all of them are connected because they all have their own Star God.

Divine Serpent...speaking of which, you should do a "Top 10 cards that were released in the wrong rarity" list. Because when it comes to cards like that, Divine Serpent immediately comes to mind. IT WAS ORIGINALLY RELEASED AS A COMMON! Dartz's big boss - A COMMON! Absolutely disrespectful. It should have been an Ultra or even Secret, and I think Konami even realized this since it was very quickly reprinted in Duel Power as an Ultra.
I always think of "Zhushin the sleeping Giant" from 5Ds when it comes to wrong raritys. In the Anime it was considered a common and useless Card because of its crazy summoning requirement. But in real Life it was an Ultra Rare. Even though Anime and Real Life are not the same. It should have been a Common Card to reference the Anime (it got a common reprint 2020 at least).
If I remember correctly duel terminal lore, tierra and Sophia are the two sides of the cycle of destruction and rebirth, and are as powerful as the other.
3:00 brings an interesting question. Does Yugioh use an inclusive OR? Like if Sophia actually read 'or' could you, if you wished, sacrifice more than 1? I feel like I should know this but I can't think of cards where someone would be a) want to do this and b) the card doesn't already say 'one or more'. 8:50 First move in the US you mean. Season 0 had a movie in Japan that predates Pyramid of Light significantly.
Big boss monsters are the best part of the yugioh video games because AI was bad enough for you to pull it off. Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste was a particular favorite to pull off on DS games
Other details about Theinen: In the movie, you can see Teleia's head is on the back of Andro's head. And its anime effect is gaining the ATK of all monsters in the graveyards, which caused it to reach 35000.
What's especially funny about the anime Geh vs. Timaeus Knight of Destiny battle, at least in the dub, Yugi claims that no they don't crash into each other, but rather because Hermos and Criteus already got infinity, then the Knight of Destiny surpassed that, he is actually "beyond infinity" (yes seriously) and in fact Geh was weaker and lost the fight. God I love this show!
Weird 4Kids' dubbing choices don't count. You can clearly see Knight of Destiny splitting back up into the three original knights, meaning it was a Double KO.
Sophia can work a bit better if you can recycle monsters for the different summons. For example, using two monsters to Xyz Summon a monster that allows you use its Overlays right away, then use Fusion Gate to banish those monsters to Fusion Summon a monster from there. You can then use Advance Ritual Art to put a Tuner and another monster in the Graveyard who have effects that Special Summon themselves from the Graveyard, where you can then Synchro Summon.
Advanced Ritual Art's cost requires it to be a normal monster(s) for Ritual summoning, so unless your Ritual or other cards have an effect to bring out that normal monster, it's probably not going to be used for a Synchro summon. You have the right idea
@@Xeno-The-Wanderer blue eyes have good Synchros, but the commenter was referring to sending effect tuner monsters that special summons themselves from the graveyard, which unfortunately isn't how the card works. Normal monsters require an extra card in order to revive themselves from the graveyard
Divine Serpent deserved MUCH more. It had Infinite ATK in the show FFS! My favorite card ever. Konami didn’t even bother connecting it to the Orichalcos. It definitely deserved to have an instant win effect upon a successful attack for example, if his Infinite ATK had to be scrubbed.
I find it interesting that Avida seems to imply a sort of link between the otherwise separate Duel terminal and World Legacy lores. Both of the other Star Gods are Duel Terminal related but Avida shares too many similarities to be coincidental imo. I kind of think the World legacy world might actually just be the Duel terminal world in the distant future after one of the Gods managed to rebuild it.
I think Tierra Source of Destruction is also heavily related to the Shaddols, since it was awakened by El Shaddol Construct during their war against the world tree.
Divine Serpent Geh: requires the tribute of millions of souls harvested throughout time and all your lifepoints. It sports the insane feat of having an attack power of infinity Also Geh: loses to book of moon
I’d say it’s implied that the Divine Serpent is immune to almost anything. It’s not explicitly shown, but it can’t be THAT easy to deal with. After all, Geh seems to be Dartz’s version of a God Card. It’s name in the original JP is translated as “Serpent God Geh”. If Geh could be destroyed that easily, why didn’t Yami just use Critius’s effect again, and bring back a “Mirror Force” or “Trap Hole”? My guess, is Dartz would’ve laughed and said something along the lines of: “Haha, Geh is invincible. You can’t defeat him with a simple magic card”.
I actually used Sophia for a gimmicky Duel Links deck. That was a while ago, but now, I’d try to play her with D/Ds, or some other cards that benefit from being banished.
I always wondered, if the effect kept tripling the damage, the attack would never hit infinity, if the attack goes up every time Yugi does the effect, he'd have to activate it an infinite amount of times, which feels like counting to infinity. For how scripted things have to be, I think this was the first time while watching it originally it felt like 'Main Character Powers'
The 4th (3rd?) effect of Geh is interesting because it uses the effect of Martyr’s Curse, a trap card that was used earlier on in the duel that it appeared in, at least the part where it negates a monster’s effect that it battles.
Yes, I guess that is the only thing that carried over from one of Dartz’s cards. I still think they should’ve made him into a ridiculous win condition, if they didn’t want to give him infinite ATK. Simply to keep the novelty of Geh’s outlandishness. Is it competitive? No. It’s fun. Besides… summoning him is so goddamn hard anyway, they should’ve made it where you immediately win the duel when he is summoned or when he attacks.
Trivia In the movie theinen did increase its attack by all the attacks of monsters in the graveyard . All the nerf kinda make sense when you all know that the 2 other sphynx could summon themselves directly from the deck if pyramid of light was on the field. Also for those who didn't see the movie, the back of theinen's head is actually teleia sphynx's face, shame the card doesn't show that
7:08 - Firewall Dragon Singularity, once it comes out in the OCG in Cyberstorm Access next month, will tie both Avida and World Gears for highest ATK of all Cyberse-Types.
That akward moment when you realize Yugi could have just buy or borrow from his grandpa's store and use a "Thousand Knifes" to not deal with Geh and Dartz's bullcrap. Or Dark burning Attack...or something else.
There is a way to summon Sophia pretty easily with the new Gishki Support. All you need is Grim and Ready Fusion/Instant Fusion with Theseus. The Endbord is White Aura Monoceros, Gigantic Spright or something like Herald of Pure Light, Theseus and Nereimanas. But you can’t search for Sophia consistently, so this is more like a fun idea rather than a stable Wipeout.
These are so fucking cool! I always love seeing these pop up. I know geh from a video I saw on the anime, and I randomly drew Sophia in a legacy Pack on Master duel and was like "hell yeah"! Kinda wanna put her in my ramshackle odd eyes deck. She also reminds me of Z-Arc, which Is a card I've been wanting to use in a deck for the longest time!
you forgot the most powerful boss monsters of all, Jadens signature boss monsters Winged Kuribo LV9, and its incarnate Egyptian god slayer Winged Kuribo LV10
Theinen was absolute bitch in Playground Yu-Gi-Oh. A lot of kids at my school had really powerful monsters but lacked the ability to summon them, or knew the stats and effects of Fusions that they didn't have the actual card for (this was in the post-Shining Dragon release, pre-Ultimate Dragon release days), or had all the parts needed _except_ Polymerisation. As a result, people played... fast and loose with summoning conditions. And let me tell you, 3500 and the ability to become 6500 for a turn on what half the playground treated as a regular-ass two-tribute? It was scary. Catching the 6500 attack on a Draining Shield and retaliating with a BEWD + Axe of Despair was probably my proudest moment.
14:37 so timaeus' effect in the anime was copying effects AND fusion summon, so the resulting fusion kept the combined atttack the monsters used for its fusion summon had on the field?
Geh in the real game was actually released as a common in the VRAINS era, and is quite powerful in limited formats. It is easy to summon, hard to get over and can remove strong monsters, while being easy to obtain.
now that i read it again, wouldn't it make more sense if Sophia's and Tierra's effects were swapped? Because shuffling cards back into the deck sounds more like a "rebirth" to me than banishing them
I havent played yugioh in years and I never really knew that cards could "miss timing" which seems like a really convoluted rule in an already confusing card game at this point. I decided to look it up on the wiki and it gave the example that because a monster like Peten the Dark Clown has an effect that says "when" it is sent to the graveyard and not "if", if Peten is tributed for a tribute summoning technically the summon happens after it is sent to the graveyard so it doesnt get the effect. Like...why? How many cards would actually become more playable if this whole idea of missing timing wasn't a thing? Like with Theinen because it says "when" you cant use the effect to summon it if something happens after the sphinxs are destroyed. Why would they intentionally make a rule like this to make so many cards harder to use?
Top 10 Anime exclusive cards that would be broken / see competitive play if they ever get printed. ( cards like Cards of Sanctity dont count as an example since it already had a real world counterpart, also the anime exclusive card must keep its anime effect in order to make the list )
You have no idea how much it would satisfy Yugi boomers like me to see old cards with their full power anime effects blowing through modern negate boards
Can they be negated if skill drain was already on the field before they were summoned? You cant activate effect in response but skill drain is already there as a lingering effect.
I love how the simple act of describing the end of the Dartz duel in the usual, matter-of-fact narration makes it sound like the narrator is having some sort of mental breakdown
I believe the thing the stop Avida form being played at all is not the summoning requirement but the limitation that you cannot special summon at all this turn if you want to bring the card out. It is just too hard for a restriction. It is the only monster you can summon for the turn and only monster you have at the end of the turn. Also no protection or negation on opponent field so it will get destroyed easily next turn and your opponent will be able to use the field/GY/banish reset benefits before you
The best Pyro boss monster is Volcanic Doomfire. 3k Atk, battle control (opponent must attack and can only attack him), board wipe when victorious in battle with burn damage tacked on.

Oh, and you summon it with Dogmatikalamity so its not even that hard to bring out
Ahh Relay Soul.
DCH is one of my favorite cards because of how funny it is to have a lv8 tuner
Something interesting about Teirra, source of destruction is that it works *surprisingly* well in traptrix, to the point that I usually play 1-2 copies of it as traptrix can very easily get 10 cards of diffrent names on the feild and in your hand due to their trap setting and swarming (kinda). It's fun to be playing traptrix and suddenly summon a board reset outta nowhere.
Thanks for the tip
A bunch of girls who control the forest full of traps for passerby’s to fall into then summon the ancient god Tierra to end the world by committing ritual suicide with their land… that’s the image I got with this combination

Weather Painter can do this too, they can easily swarm and maintain field presence really well.
I'd love to see TheDuelLogs explain card lores in a longer video format
Here's the TL,DR for the World Legacy storyline: Girsu is the world's most overpowered siscon, Lee is utterly terrifying, Avram has to go through waaaaay too much angst, and Ib spends most of the storyline dead.
Loved the duel with Dartz and him summoning Divine Serpent was amazing. Such an epic duel because Waking The Dragons is quite possibly my favorite arc from the anime. Not to mention Anubis with Theinen in the yugioh movie was great as well.
I'm so glad I found this channel. I've been running two decks in my entire lifetime of Yu-Gi-Oh: Random high Defense monsters + Slight burn damage spells and traps, to a full on Six Samurai Deck and a modified version of SS.
I'm glad I could never beat veterans and new players since the only mechanic I understood just 3 years ago was XYZ summoning. Pendulum and Link summoning hurt my brain way too hard.
That being said, I really appreciate your content DuelLogs. It helps me with some of the things I can try and see if it's a good fit for me, though I still run SS in Duel Links
But I do know how much value the cards in these videos are, especially since today's meta keeps evolving greatly which is always appreciated.
Big thanks to you, many good lucks and lots of love from a player who still thinks LP is still a worthwhile staple even in modern Yu-Gi-Oh.

I honestly loved the explanation for the dartz duel. Please do more anime boss monsters explaining the set up and finish of the duels in the anime

I for one am a madlad and made a deck with the old Sphinx cards with melffys. Mostly cuz I'm a crackhead but it works, pyramid of light isn't a necessity. Melffy fenny gets them out your hand to the field, hide and seek protects them and puts em back in the deck from GY. It's so casual and I love it
The lore part of the video was so nice. I now want more of that
As a non-competitive Yugioh player of 21 years, I have never understood the idea of "missing timing"
This made me realize how much I want a show where it's full-bore Duelist Kingdom rules for a card game that's more of an art than a science.
It's quite unfortunate that yugi had to sit there for an infinitely long time bouncing attack points between critias and hermos. or maybe geh just thought the integer limit was high enough or something
Probably did what happened is they did what happens irl ygo tournament , if u r going for a loop and your opponent don't have any interaction u just tell them for how many u r going to loop. So it probably was like this.
Dartz: so how many times u r going for the loop?

Actually the opposite zefra to helix is zefraxa. The color scheme is seen in the ORBS the zefras carry(the belt, for zefraxa).
And zefraath can't possibly have a qli/infernoid counterpart to begin with considering its representing the tree of life itself on top of being zefracore who absorbed all of the yang zing and zefra power.
He said the right words and used the wrong picture.
@@leonfire99 Oh that makes more sense.

Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth seems really really cool! If I spent money on Master Duel I would love to get a deck with her as the focus I think it would be really fun
There are a lot more decks that can summon her than people seem to believe
I think you should make a video on cards that really shouldve been fusion monsters but weren't. Stuff like Valkyrion or Water Dragon for example.

I’d say Yugi playing solitaire in that last episode of season 4 matches many a current YGO matches pretty accurately (assuming, of course, the person on the receiving end doesn’t have Ash in their opening hand).
Over the Nexus was so satisfactory with the "ace card" mechanic and summon animations for a lot of monsters, let you feel like an anime character
@@parkouremaster All of these were signature mechanics of the entire World Championship series, actually!
@@TWLSpark Yeah but the summon animation was the cherry on the top, remember i did a run using only Yusei anime deck

@@zowayix Oh they totally count, because I want to talk about how silly it is.
With these first three god cards, you should do a video comparing all the God trios from the different eras.
I think the Star Gods also referring to Trimurti. Brahma the Creator, Shiva the Destroyer, and Vishnu the Preserver
@@christopherfeatherley blue eyes red eyes and dark magician could pull it off, not sure what other archetypes play normal monsters
@@Xeno-The-Wanderer Blue eyes is actually pretty good at summoning her, it is super fun
The deep complex lore and connections behind so many card is actually awesome
I think Tierra Source of Destruction is also heavily related to the Shaddols, since it was awakened by El Shaddol Construct during their war against the world tree.
Divine Serpent Geh: requires the tribute of millions of souls harvested throughout time and all your lifepoints. It sports the insane feat of having an attack power of infinity
Also Geh: loses to book of moon
I want to thank you for explaining the divine serpent effect!! When I first watched that anime episode I didn’t understand what was going on
another common thing about star gods is that their combined atk and def points value is 7k.
No. It’s fun.
Besides… summoning him is so goddamn hard anyway, they should’ve made it where you immediately win the duel when he is summoned or when he attacks.
if sophia was a light fairy she'd unironically be playable in certain metas probably with drytrons.
Just a note, spell speed 4 =/= cannot be negated. The Mermail Abyss- spells can negate spell speed 4.
I love how you ad some lore and etymology to card designs
Trivia
In the movie theinen did increase its attack by all the attacks of monsters in the graveyard . All the nerf kinda make sense when you all know that the 2 other sphynx could summon themselves directly from the deck if pyramid of light was on the field.
Also for those who didn't see the movie, the back of theinen's head is actually teleia sphynx's face, shame the card doesn't show that
Another episode of boss monsters with Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem featured would be cool!
Divine Serpent Meh was how I felt about Dart's boss monster.
I didn't know zefra qliphort and infernoid were this closely related, how cool!
Dartz's remarks to Yugi and Kaiba thorough the duel were the most funny things ever in the series (from a meta context xD).
When it comes to anime bs, I think that Dartz duel takes the cake.
Oh my god. I was playing Pony Island with this in the background, and you said Baphomet right as that name appeared on screen. Genuinely terrifying.
Yugi should have used drain shield on Geh
Or forbidden chalice: Geh can't gain any more ATK than infinite and negating its effect just makes Dartz lose from having 0 LP.
I love that duel with Dartz just for how stupid crazy that infinite loop is. It's so dumb I love it.
14:37 so timaeus' effect in the anime was copying effects AND fusion summon, so the resulting fusion kept the combined atttack the monsters used for its fusion summon had on the field?
Bro this quality of video is top notch
Geh in the real game was actually released as a common in the VRAINS era, and is quite powerful in limited formats. It is easy to summon, hard to get over and can remove strong monsters, while being easy to obtain.
now that i read it again, wouldn't it make more sense if Sophia's and Tierra's effects were swapped?
Because shuffling cards back into the deck sounds more like a "rebirth" to me than banishing them
Exactly, but in the lore Sophia WANTED to destroy everything so that's probably why lol.
The duel between Kaiba/Yugi and Dartz is still one if not my favorite duel of all-time.

Can they be negated if skill drain was already on the field before they were summoned? You cant activate effect in response but skill drain is already there as a lingering effect.
You have convinced me to make this deck with a wild monster appears on master duel thanks duel logs
I love how the simple act of describing the end of the Dartz duel in the usual, matter-of-fact narration makes it sound like the narrator is having some sort of mental breakdown
I love this video on a deep, spiritual level.
I was hoping to see Ultimate obedient fiend. Such an old and cool monster which most players don’t know about.
I'm interested in you having a brief video on the weird pack filler tip cards from Dark Beginnings 1.
I believe the thing the stop Avida form being played at all is not the summoning requirement but the limitation that you cannot special summon at all this turn if you want to bring the card out. It is just too hard for a restriction. It is the only monster you can summon for the turn and only monster you have at the end of the turn. Also no protection or negation on opponent field so it will get destroyed easily next turn and your opponent will be able to use the field/GY/banish reset benefits before you
I would love to hear you talk about the anime in relation to real world cards more sometime
