For my friend’s 13th birthday, she was given her first ever phone, which was an iPhone 7. This was after years of asking and earning up money to help pay to get one.
The same year her parents got her 1 and 1/2 year old sister a Samsung Galaxy 6 as a present to celebrate her half birthday. This was after having 3 temper tantrums demanding to have her sister’s phone.

LG Android phone for $5 at a dollar store to use it for a music player. I could not add no more apps to it or update apps on it. Because the rom was only 4 gigs... But it did good for a music player and that's all I wanted out of it anyway.

This was my first phone lmao, I got it for my birthday back in 2017. It was actually a pretty neat phone and the hexagonal back was really nice to just feel (def for not gaming and the battery died quickly though), I could use it in one hand and while it was nothing like what my friends had I liked it. I love the Samsung I have now, but I miss you old phone, come back :(

Got one for my 11yr old for school and he's happy with it. If it gets broke, lost or stolen it's pretty easy to replace.
It’s actually pretty cool that cheaper operating systems are being created to give base-level phones smartphone capabilities. You can get Trac-Phone-like devices from the dollar store that have smartphone capabilities now. I was surprised to see that many disadvantaged people already have Internet access. That’s really cool.
