I find it hilarious that critics think anyone is going into a Mario movie for a really good story 😂

well i think you can create a fantastic story with every IP if you are a talented writer. Puss in Boots 2 proofs that. So just because its Mario we shouldnt expect a good story is an excuse in my opinion

Yeah people expecting a Top tier Storytelling from a VIDEO GAME movie like Mario or Sonic then cry on Twitter as SAD. Just enjoy the fucking movie

I don’t understand the negative reviews. This seems like a very good adaptation from the source material. Idk why these people expect hamlet levels of story telling. The games never had lore or heavy story lines.

A fun movie isn't necessarily a "good" movie.
Not everyone has the same preferences. That's the whole point of a review.
Why do you expect people to have the same "low" standards you do?
The biggest complaints I am seeing from "negative" reviews has to do with pacing and bloating issues. (Too much happening in a short period of time.)
Others mention poor use of fan service.
These are valid critiques whether you agree with them or not.

Just watched this an hour ago. As I Mario fan, I think this movie was pretty good for a game adaptation. Of course it's not gonna be perfect as there were some issues such as pacing at the beginning. The plot was alright tho ( then again, it's a Mario movie, don't expect it to have a Marvel endgame plot).
It did really well with in-game references with both Mario and non-mario games and I overall loved and would definitely see it again :D

Just watched it, and loved it ! It's-a-Mario-movie, what were people expecting ? A story !?
This movie is basically a gigantic easter egg galore festival! Almost all the things Mario from these past 4 decades, we got to taste at least for one shot. For fans from the first minute, it was visually a feast.
And frankly, the voice actors all did great ! Special mention to Jack Black and Charlie Day, who all embodied their characters. And yes ! Even Chris Pratt. It's a bit odd for the first 2 minutes, then you just roll with it and not a single time, you think about it anymore.
The only thing I'd nitpick about the voice casting is Anya Taylor Joy. Don't get me wrong, she killed it (as usual). But I can't help but shake the feeling that Nintendo played their trump card too early. If this movie is successful (and I have no doubt it will), and should the NCU ever happen, she'd have been a fantastic Zelda !

Yeah, I'm not sure how there's any negative reviews for this cuz it sounds like an amazing time! Definitely can't wait to watch it myself and I can't wait to do my own Review when I get the chance! 🍄

I am SO EXCITED FOR THE NEW SUPER MARIO BROTHERS MOVIE!! Only thing is it doesn’t come out in my area next week 😕 but I got high expectations and Ready to go in theaters!!
Lovely to hear the positive reception. Wonder what critics expect from a Mario movie to give it a 53% from 113 reviews. It will be interesting to see the box office trajectory.

Saw it today and i loved it who cares what the critics say they probably never played the games to know what mario about lol it's mainly made for fans and kids
I finished watching it and i had a BLAST during the entire movie who don't deserve this much bad reviews. Yeah it felt rushed and the plot was as basic as it gets but as a Mario Fan that's don't really matter tbh. Just wanted to feel the game references and the nostalgia of this videogame franchise that made my childhood worth and i'm highly satisfied to the point i'm already considering coming back to watch it again in a few days
FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE: stay there till the very end and watch the credits!!
Saw this last night and as someone wo is in their 40s, absolutely loved it. They pulled bits from so many different games. From the original, all the way up to the latest game Super Mario Odyssey. "Critics" are far too out of touch with what fans want to have any credibility to score it. I found myself constantly looking around the screen for references and easter eggs and they didn't dissapoint.

Over-criticizing?
Their jobs are literally to critique movies. It's to notate what they feel are flaws in the movie and what could be improved.
You can still enjoy a film while pointing out it's flaws.
This whole mindset of "if you don't agree with me you're wrong or against me" really needs to go away.

Something tells you're still in preschool, because Mario literally came out like idk 60 years? There's bound to several millions of adults watching this film, Mario is a big part of their childhood and even mine and I'm only a teen.
