Everybody was very nervous in this event. Particularly the crazy guy who is coordinating the ceremony. But I have never seen MM moving her eyes and breathing so heavily like that. She was also very sweet trying to please the Italian audience speaking few words in their language. She was beautiful inside and out!
@Bandicoot: Yes, but she never RESTS with those expressions. It is obvious to a Marilyn observer of over 40 years, that she just was not ANY self here. Not HER self, not her movie self, not her orphan self. I wish she would have taken someone to the award presentation with her. She might have been somewhat more relaxed, because to the trained eye, this is almost painful to watch even though the award was a TRIUMPH for Marilyn. With ALL of those facial expressions, it is like she didn't know WHO she was. And, sadly, I would bet you a million dollars that she didn't~~~~and I would win.
She was always so sweet and classy in situations like this. When so much of her personal space seemed to be so invated she always dealt with it likevthe trooper I bet she was.
I love the fact that the woman congratulated her personally and tried to make her feel more comfortable. The men seemed to not care and were just elated that they were next to Marilyn not the award
she looked so adorable her facial expressions and everything xD and when she said those words in Italian she looked like a little child talking at a family gathering..Her voice was so adorable.such an inspiration.
Poor Marilyn had no space here, let alone everything was in a foreign language to her. Oh, those facial expressions of hers! She is one of those rare or unique persons that you really are always wondering “what is she thinking or feeling?” She was such a fragile, beautiful flower.
Interesting. Whilst Marilyn was never even nominated for an Academy award (which was outrageous IMO), she DID win awards for her acting in other countries. Awards like this were held in high regard and signify respect and prestige ... unfortunately, you wouldn't think so from the way these people are swarming all over her !
That award is the US equivalent of the Academy Award … yet, ironically, she was never even NOMINATED for an Academy Award in Hollywood. The Hollywood elite hated her because she bucked the studio system and made it possible for actors to negotiate their own contracts with various studios, rather than be a slave to ONE studio to do pictures that were sub par and they had no say in whether or not they wanted to perform in them. This was a woman that was way ahead of her time. She won battles, but ultimately lost the war.
Because she "bucked the studio system" is not why they, the movie colony and establishment, "hated" her, but I do agree she should have been nominated for an Academy Award. I think, as did the critics of the day, that she was great in "Bus Stop", (even though Don Murray RUINED it by over-acting), and I think she was magnificent in The Seven Year Itch. Her comedic talent was really fantastic in that movie and her beauty was also at its peak. I, too, agree she won the battle, but lost the war, but I don't think it was about garnering an Academy Award; it was something more primal. She tried and tried and tried to become famous, beautiful, desirable, lauded, wanted, and for the most part she got that, but the war was, she was too ill, from the get go, to love, accept and appreciate herself. That is how she LOST. The entire world loved her, but Marilyn could not love herself. Not really. And that is why she died.
Gosh that guy was so annoying and they were invading her space. It was rude how he just pulled people to were he was instead of calling them or something. She was very cute here though
Marilyn's facial expression in this clip is off the scale even for her! I am always captivated by her ...but it's like she's not letting herself alone even for a second. Magnani in her solidity and naturalness makes Marilyn in comparison seem even more like an odd bird.
Rich O Hanna: Yes, I noticed that. She was not being herself and she kept trying to find the "right" facial expression. It was a little too much. Still love her, though!! And, yes, Anna Magnani was a decent woman who was trying to help Marilyn out. (This presentation occurred at the Italian Embassy in New York.)
@@jennesseee7069 True. And here she doesn't look all that well. This was in 1960 or so..............she is not wearing her wedding ring. She looks nervous and skittish. A little sad and a lot ALONE, even with the crowd.
The last time she was her true self was when she was still Norma Jean. I think starting from 1948 she erased her natural persona completely especially from 1952 the year she got internationally famous. It's sooo sad we never got to see her true self. 😢 It's been years that I've been looking for an interview where she speaks and acts normally.
Thank you for that footage. I never saw it before. Watching Marilyn's facial expressions was great. I think she won the award for Some Like It Hot. She had a seamstress-cook who was Italian. I guess she knew a few words. But what was he saying? It was good to see Anna Magnani and Marilyn together. Kathleen Collins
This is so cute. Thank you. Every time I see Marilyn in a clip she is always surrounded by old ugly looking men. My goodness, she could sure tolerate a lot.
They are so happy to present the award - the Golden Globe award to the most popular great Marilyn Monroe of the world. To the great actress. It’s an international award. That was wonderful for her. He seems so excited to present the award to Marilyn Monroe. She was so sweet and patient.
The men are soooo rude all over her...blocking her from the camera disgusting. I always feel so sorry for her...no one ever there for her, to stand by or stand up for her. If at all possible I would have wished that she truly had a Real Friend 💞
la gentillesse la douceur sur le sublime visage angélique de ma chouchoute. that old guy was so annoyingly rude. The thing is , he does not know any better. Some people just cannot help it. Now Marilyn sounds and acts like a sweet child she was; like an angel.

Poor Marilyn, she could hardly breathe and had no idea what they were saying, but she got through it with her smiles. That bobo head of an interviewer getting his big head in her face, so rude!
God the way they were hounding her with no regard for her personal space, that's all men cared about...being as close to Marilyn Monroe as they could be but this poor sweet, gentle angel really deserved better protection around her. What an irreplaceable jewel she is
The eyes tell the truth!. She looks as if she is draine or tired or something. Or maybe have not had a good night sleep. The eyes are the windows to the soul. Something to little all about her in this video. The eyes telling story.
She was the most famous actress in the world ... do you really think people from all over the world, wherever they came from, wouldn't have made the same fuss, to stay as close as possible to her ( in a little jammed room) ? And, by the way, the " female reporter" was NOT a journalist AT ALL ! she was Anna Magnani, one of the greatest actresses ever !
she's so shy ,sweet and adorable... how can you not love her?
I adore her
how to unlove her? There's no way
Such a sweet angel 🌹🌹♥️♥️♥️♥️😍😍😍
Everybody was very nervous in this event. Particularly the crazy guy who is coordinating the ceremony. But I have never seen MM moving her eyes and breathing so heavily like that. She was also very sweet trying to please the Italian audience speaking few words in their language. She was beautiful inside and out!
She's got a million expressions going on, absolute beauty, inside and out.
@Bandicoot: Yes, but she never RESTS with those expressions. It is obvious to a Marilyn observer of over 40 years, that she just was not ANY self here. Poor Marilyn, she was put on the spot here but she handled it wonderfully and sweetly.
The woman is the great Anna Magnani.
"the woman" was a living legend : Anna Magnani, one of the greatest actresses ever in the world .
annnnnd she won the Oscar in 1956 for best actress in a leading role. And to me, the best actress out there.
she looked so adorable her facial expressions and everything xD and when she said those words in Italian she looked like a little child talking at a family gathering..Her voice was so adorable.such an inspiration.
I couldn't help but laugh.. Because half of the time she is sitting there like "What the fuck is he saying...." Ugh I love her!!
she was so hot but fragile at the same time, a very big variation of facail expression. I love you with all my heart Marilyn.
Marilyn doesn't know what they're talking about. Love it!!!
Poor Marilyn had no space here, let alone everything was in a foreign language to her. Oh, those facial expressions of hers! She is one of those rare or unique persons that you really are always wondering “what is she thinking or feeling?” She was such a fragile, beautiful flower.

What a great sport she was :) so polite and gracious

She's reacting here, the way anyone else would if you don't understand a foreign language being spoken, love it!

Oww, ternura total, no sabia que habló un trocito de español. 🤩💞💞
Admirable. She showed no animosity to the situation. Not like some of the so called stars of today
She was always a sexy sweet lady!!

She was always on her Marilyn character mode. She was never herself, "Marilyn Monroe" was just a character.
There's an array of comedy shaped microphones in this clip, how did she even concentrate with all those poked in her face haha !!
She looked 20 in her mid 30s
Adorable💖

@John wick: Understatement!!!

Poor Marilyn, she could hardly breathe and had no idea what they were saying, but she got through it with her smiles. That bobo head of an interviewer getting his big head in her face, so rude!
"she is the hind entering the forest clearing and all the hunters lower their guns" Norman Mailer once wrote ...
Lol she looked nervous lol
At 1:10 this man stands up and wipes his nose on his sleeve. Did I see that right? Gross!
Che dolce 🌹

she is so sweet, and again the guy took the opportunity to kiss her.
She needs one of those earpieces like they use at the UN.
Se ve como una gatita asustada :c
Они вообще знают про личное пространство
this is comical!
Omg!! Claustrophobic!!!
Why is he pronouncing the R's like it was french?
Too crowded, no personal space for Marilyn? Respect personal space. She can smell those bad breath.
The eyes tell the truth!. She looks as if she is draine or tired or something. Or maybe have not had a good night sleep. The eyes are the windows to the soul. Something to little all about her in this video. The eyes telling story.
Ну итальянец просто видел только себя наглый тип
What a mess ,these Italianos! And that female reporter having cigarette in her finger is too impolite. This interview is too much for Marilyn Monroe.
Are you joking, aren't you?. That "female reporter " is the greatest Italian actress Anna Magnani
Marilyn Monroe
