For me, Unova takes the top spot. Every single town feels so diverse, and like it has an identity of its own. I appreciated how all the Gym Leaders had jobs outside of just being a Gym Leader (Burgh is an artist, Skyla is a Pilot, Lenora is a museum curator, etc.) Almost every Gym leader can be encountered outside of the gyms. Iris is constantly showing up to help Bianca. Bianca bumps into Elesa in Nacrene City. Burgh comes to Nacrene to see Lenora, and Team Plasma is causing trouble wherever they go. Team Plasma doesn't feel like an afterthought, they are actively getting up to mischief in most towns that you go to. I also think it was a good idea to sort of 'soft reboot' things in B/W and lock the National Dex in the Postgame. I know a lot of people were pissed about not being able to use their favourite Pokemon, but I personally found it refreshing. I can't count the number of times I've used a Gyarados or a Crobat or a Machamp, etc. in my various playthroughs of games. Being forced to use all new ones was fun. For me though, the thing that absolutely clinches it is the fact that you basically don't need HM's. You only have to use an HM exactly once in the main story of the game, and that's to Cut the tree in the Dreamyard just after the first badge. Every other HM (Strength, Surf, etc.) you can use to explore optional areas, if you want to, but you're not required to use them to complete the game. Coming off Sinnoh, where you need 6 HM's just to get through Victory Road, that's a nice change of pace. Don't get me wrong, I love Hoenn, but I think it suffers from a bit of an identity crisis. I love the whole vibe of Sinnoh, the place just feels steeped in history. There are so many myths and legends associated with various places. There's like 6 sets of ruins in the region. Places like Celestic Town almost seem removed from time, like it's been there, largely unchanged for thousands of years, and it will be there for thousands more. Still, that being said, I still think Unova is the best. I fully agree that the modern regions (Galar, Paldea and even Kalos) need to be down the bottom of the list. I mean, compare say Castelia City in Unova to Levincia in Paldea. Castelia has so much more to do. Levincia you can go in like, four buildings, all of which are generic shops which can be found in any town.

My favorite is Hoenn as I enjoy it more as the region itself rather than what the games show or the story ingame. I mean, I love some of it's towns and cities in a way that if they would exist, they would be the first places in pokemon world I would like to visit. For example, a city that consist on tree houses awakes my inner child, I imagine how it would look in the reallity and how the people would interact with their pokemon there. The same happens with a town in the ocean, or a city like sootopolis. Also that desert islands where you can build your secret base on AS and OR...when I first discover them, I imagine that simple sprites like something beautiful. I'm more of quite and nature places rather that big citys. That's why I fell home when playing games on Hoenn. I know that it will take decades, but now with open world I would love to see another Hoenn remake...maybe on that time the graphics used on pokemon would improve...probably not, but hope that happen.

For me I agree with Sinnoh/Hisui is the best region as Pokémon diamond was my first ever Pokémon game and I’ve always just loved the history and lore to the region as well as the legendaries/mythicals to the region
My top 5 1. Kalos, introduced a LOT of my all time favorite Pokemon, and it has some of the most memorable places in the franchise. (Laverre City is gorgeous AF!) 2. Hoenn, purely a nostalgia pick. Literally no other reason lmao. 3. Alola, the most different mainline game and one I always felt got too much flack when it first released. The island trials were a nice break from the standard 8 gyms + team rocket ?.0 format. 4. Paldea. Yes it has its flaw, no one is ignoring the glitches, Sheen. But that doesn’t take away from how fun it was to explore. And much like Kalos, this gen introduced some of my favorite Pokemon, including the most endearing box legendaries to date. It’s just lower because the locations aren’t as memorable. (I tried to remember my favorite city in the Paldea and my brain went to Lumios because “electric type gym”. Let that solidify my point.) 4. Kanto, the OG! Can’t go wrong with it! Every time we get to revisit the region, I enjoy myself.
Hoenn was the most fun Pokemon region to travel through. Thanks to the different weathers and designs, the region can be divided into different microregions that feel very unique and selfsufficient. There are many other regions that have amazing design such as Alola and Unova, but Hoenn is the only one that feels much bigger than it actually is. It's easily my top spot. I haven't played the newest gens so I can't really judge Paldea or Galar, but I have to say Kanto is the opposite of Hoenn, in the sense that it feels much smaller than it is. The designs are a bit one-note in gen I, for good reason but still, and even gen III Kanto didn't exactly make it more unique or feel wider to me. I always end up preferring Johto in gen II and gen IV games, so... it's easily my least favorite region (and even though it looks much better in gen VII idk what to think of the Let's Go series so I won't count them).
While the first Pokemon game I ever played was Crystal, the first that I actually beat was Diamond, so even though I'm technically a Johto baby, I will always consider myself a Sinnoh baby
I don't have my favorite Pokemon Region so Kalos, Unova and Sinnoh deserves the simultaneous casual Playthrough While Paldea and Alola deserves the Alternate casual playthrough with Galar. Kanto and Unova deserves the dex and story content war. Kanto, Johto and Hoenn deserves the mixture casual playthrough.
Ok Alola is WAY too high. The routes are nowhere near good enough to justify its placement and the towns just don’t live up to their potential. At bare minimum it should be below Hoen, and probably below Kalos on this list.
For me, Unova 1 gets the bottom cause entralink and bridges. I hate Unova bridges, they feels so void. I wouldn't mind if there were an alternative road under them, but there isn't one for most of them. On the other hand, Unova 2 is pretty good even with those issues, but struggles to get higher than Hoenn and Sinnoh for me.
Let me just say that is the most basic/Overrated list 1.Sinnoh is not that good fight me 2. Galar is a good Gen but with a bad story and Johto should be WAAAAAAAAAY higher
I agree with this list for the most part and I don't hate the rankings that I disagree with, I swear these people in the comments who are adamantly disagreeing are just doing it for attention or something
Maybe I'm biased because Ultra Sun was my first game, but like I think that Gen 7 was fantastic and it was only held back by not having gyms. Replace island challenge with gyms, and you have the perfect pokemon games
I have to agree. In terms of flow and exploration and interesting things to do to create the illusion of an open world within the confines of the technology of the time, Johto is a quantum leap over Kanto, especially comparing the regions in the remakes (or even within HGSS). The worst thing you can say about it is the weird Pokémon distribution that the remakes only fixed a tiny amount and i guess the level curve, but it really doesn't deserve to be so much lower than Kanto on this ranking, if lower at all.
Just shows how subjective these things are. Mine are completely different:- 1. Unova 2. Galar 3. Hoenn 4. Paldea 5. Kalos 6. Johto 7. Kanto 8. Alola 9. Sinnoh
Unova sucked and was my least favourite. I used to be a dragon trainer. Then i got nerfed! And none of the fairies got any decent designs until like now. Total flop i recomend the hack clover. Now thats a fn good game. Besides everyone knows in cannon jhoto and sinnoh are by far the best.
Alola sucks Better than johto? My ass The routes are boring, the cave are boring, the city design are boring And they are based on hawaii that should be better. Yet johto esp on gen 4 is wayy better showing that.
4:16 BOOOOOOOOOO I HEARTILY DISAGREE JOHTO IS THE 7TH WORST REGION! TWO WORDS TWO REGIONS! As the only game that allows us to explore two regions I love the Johto games plus I enjoy the lore of the Johto Dragon Clan and the mean rival which we just dont have anymore.

@@wikiuser92 its not, thats the briliance of it. johto itself dosent have alot of trainers who stop you. the majority of them are in kanto. johto rocket HQ % radio tower does not have alot of trainers either in comparison to the tedious team HQ in hoeen and kanto. in comparison to the tedious annoying trainers in both kanto and hoenn where you cant walk 2 centimeters without a trainer stopping you to battle. this is why kanto playthroughs are trash and why gen 2 had the most replayability.

I have not even seen the video but I think like every RUclipsr you are going to shun the modern games and rant for Hoenn and Sinnoh. Note : How dare you put my home region in the bottom 😢! That was the very first Pokemon games I have played. Only pointing graphics without actually noting the story, theme and overall feel of the game and Pokemon designs. So biased. Your Switch might be made out of potato so that it couldn't process those graphics and caused glitches but mine one isn't....
@@oyeh8908 Yes, I have to definitely give points for that, Eternatus is not even mentioned before the climax but the fight and the visuals really makes the character feels like averting some universal level of threat by catching it. The best part of Sword and Shield is the Gym Challenge, they gave personality to everyone and it makes my every first gym battle very memorable. Yes the path might have been linear but I liked how every different location is a proper representative of UK culture. The best is Ballonlea and Glimmwood Tangle. And for the same reason Grimmsnarl is my favourite Pokemon and Fairy types are the best. If we look closely into lore and rare league cards we can get a lot of background of the region, pokedexes and rare league cards. These are not outright told to us and we need to search every nook and corner for the story. And shockingly Bede and Marnie have some depth to their character. But yes the story of Black and white as well as Scarlet and Violet are far superior and lore is richer than Sword and Shield but Galar made the best League structure, it is just like a real life sports with stadiums, audience, hype and feels like the region is witnessing my way to my journey to become the very best. And the last thing that I feel redundant that the Galar haters do is about Dexit. Why the f**k anyone should care about a national desk with 800+ Pokemon? You're not even going to catch all those things. I think the DLC system is great and they should stick to 400 Pokemon in the base game and then give other remaining ones in the DLCs. I think managing bit by bit is good and not take a f**king 1000+ Pokemon in the base games at once, we need to complete the pokedexes. I know Kalos had a national Dex but I think Gamefreak realised that this doesn't even work lore wise. National desk should have been only upto Sinnoh and also confined to Unova and Alola because Kanto , Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh are only regions which are a part of a bigger Japanese region, similarly Unova and Alola are a part of a bigger USA region and like that I think Kalos is a part of a complete French Region (This means southern part of France must be something separate). But after Gen - 8 Pokemon started to make regions involving the entire country like Galar is complete UK and Paldea is complete Iberian Peninsula that is why that entire Pokedex is a National dex and not just a regional Dex. The entire point of a national Dex is to have Pokemon that is not native to that region rather is somewhere else in the geography of the bigger nation.
I LOVE BDSP. Literally, I can NOT see why people hate it, like it is one of the best regions. Like, I can understand the level curves don't fit the EXP All, but it's still Sinnoh and there are work arounds to difficulties. Honestly, BDSP is better than DP, and on par with Platinum.
@@limegrass6194 i dont live in the US, but i once found them on the internet at 70, thats why i Said that😅. The thing is, that doesnt Change anything, its still too expensive for how little it changes
The real problem I see with Paldea isn't anything that you said, but that it seems more Chinese and Japanese than Spanish, which is what the region is supposed to be. Am I the only one who noticed this? It barely represents Mexico at all. The Pokemon company was clearly sneaking their home country into the games. For one, when does Mexico have a bamboo forest or a mining area similar to the one we see in the region? That is just an insult, right there. And this is coming from an American.
While I can't agrue about the random bamboo forest, the reason Paldea does not have very good representation of Mexico, is because it is not based on Mexico. Paldea is based off the Iberian Peninsula (which consists of Spain, Portugal, and Andorra), and it does have a number of references to that area. A good handful of its Pokémon - including their habitats - are all based on animals found there, and the academy is based on a famous cathedral in Barcelona. The port and the town with the water gym are based on Portuguese coastal towns, which you can tell from the blue and white architecture. Casseroya Lake is most likely based on the Sanabria Lake, which is the largest lake on the peninsula.
Oh. Well, they at least should've brought back Ludicolo in the base game, since it was the first ever Spanish themed Pokémon. I know it appears in the DLC now, but I'm still pretty salty about it not being in the base game.

Let that solidify my point.)
4. Kanto, the OG! Can’t go wrong with it! Every time we get to revisit the region, I enjoy myself.
Sinnoh is the best. It’s just feels like home.
The only problem with sinnoh for me is the length. I think it is a little bit much. But the rest of the games is good.
It’s pronounced hown-DOWR, GRUH-nin-JUH, loo-mee-OHS, yoo-NUH-vuh, and gar-BOH-durr, “Patrick Star”! 🤨
While the first Pokemon game I ever played was Crystal, the first that I actually beat was Diamond, so even though I'm technically a Johto baby, I will always consider myself a Sinnoh baby
Galars non wild area routes just feel like something you would see from a 2d game
I definitely love most Hoenn, but it is preferation of each. I don't honestly even knew why I love it most, actually :D
We need Pokémon Black and White remakes!
ALL pokemon gym leaders and elite four. weakest to strongest
IDC what you say or do but all is the best, the goat, the most richest, best legendarys just simply the best thing that has happened to Pokemon
region wise hoenn lets you do a lot. its not even close .most stuff from sinnoh are just a fraction from the thing the got from the region before it
Hey pokebinge, can you do Normal type Pokémon Good to Evil?
The crown tundra was kinda cool tho
A castle in it is based on Edinburgh castle
I think
I do actually like paldea, fuecoco is my favourite Pokémon, but it could be way better, and the dlc should be free
Great but like Flygon is not a legendary, sorry needed to point that out for some stupid reason 😂
I don't have my favorite Pokemon Region so
Kalos, Unova and Sinnoh deserves the simultaneous casual Playthrough
While Paldea and Alola deserves the Alternate casual playthrough with Galar.
Kanto and Unova deserves the dex and story content war.
Kanto, Johto and Hoenn deserves the mixture casual playthrough.
Hoenn is top tier
Yep especially after lillycove getting lost in the ocean until the end of the game that was def my favourite
I LOVE sea 🥰
It's better than unova
I still remember when people hated Gen 5 games, now look at how things change.
Galar is mid aside from the dlc tbh
L opinion
Ok Alola is WAY too high. The routes are nowhere near good enough to justify its placement and the towns just don’t live up to their potential.
At bare minimum it should be below Hoen, and probably below Kalos on this list.
Galar what’s my first Pokémon game therefore being my favorite
How dare you put Galar at the bottom
it’s us galar fans against the world man ✊🏾😞
I agree
Because that's where it belongs
The game is trash dude
@@g0567 we talking about the region my boy
For me it’s
1. Unova
2. Alola
3. Sinnoh
4. Hoenn
5. Kalos
6. Johto
7. Galar
8. Paldea
9. Kanto
5:41 you could have said Aipom
Meowths deeds good to evil
Let me just say that is the most basic/Overrated list
1.Sinnoh is not that good fight me
2. Galar is a good Gen but with a bad story and Johto should be WAAAAAAAAAY higher
I agree with this list for the most part and I don't hate the rankings that I disagree with, I swear these people in the comments who are adamantly disagreeing are just doing it for attention or something
I swear it's always me and the other people that like alola and it's games against the world for some reason
I also don't know why people hate the Popplio line so much
How dare people give their opinion.
1- sinnoh
2- Paldea (i rlly love this game)
3- Alola
4- Kalos
5- Johto
6- Galar
7- kanto
8- Unova
9- hoenn
Unova should have been number 1
Seeing Alola so high up was enough to already give this video a thumbs down. Yikes, Gen 7 was aaaaawful!
L opinion ngl
Maybe I'm biased because Ultra Sun was my first game, but like I think that Gen 7 was fantastic and it was only held back by not having gyms. Replace island challenge with gyms, and you have the perfect pokemon games
Who gave this man an opinion
you gave you an opinion?
Bronze goes to Kanto, but there was nothing good said about it?
Galar deserves more love
What about Kitakami that's technically a region
Paldea deserved better, only 300 + pkmn missing
Out of a roster of 1000 pkmn
Q
Damn as soon as i saw you put johto on 7 i dissagreed. Alola is awful aling with kalos and unova is too linear.
It at least deserves the fourth spot
A ver paladea es la tercera mejor región por detrás de sinnoh y Alola no se porque esta tan abajo
Honestly johnto is way better designed than kanto
I have to agree. In terms of flow and exploration and interesting things to do to create the illusion of an open world within the confines of the technology of the time, Johto is a quantum leap over Kanto, especially comparing the regions in the remakes (or even within HGSS). The worst thing you can say about it is the weird Pokémon distribution that the remakes only fixed a tiny amount and i guess the level curve, but it really doesn't deserve to be so much lower than Kanto on this ranking, if lower at all.
in no world is GALAR last place 😂
He’s a genwunner
Just shows how subjective these things are. Mine are completely different:-
1. Unova
2. Galar
3. Hoenn
4. Paldea
5. Kalos
6. Johto
7. Kanto
8. Alola
Alola sucks
Better than johto? My ass
The routes are boring, the cave are boring, the city design are boring
And they are based on hawaii that should be better.
Yet johto esp on gen 4 is wayy better showing that.
True
Kanto shills everywhere
4:16 BOOOOOOOOOO I HEARTILY DISAGREE JOHTO IS THE 7TH WORST REGION! TWO WORDS TWO REGIONS! As the only game that allows us to explore two regions I love the Johto games plus I enjoy the lore of the Johto Dragon Clan and the mean rival which we just dont have anymore.
Johto is not the worst region because two regions...?
Read what you said carefully. Then realize how nonsensical and stupid of an argument that is
Well I like it! Plus, whenever I think of Johto I think of that pokemon anime theme! (johto journeys)

No way Alola is better than Hoenn
You're REALLY challenging stuff like Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza? Not only that, the Battle Frontier?? Yeah, okay, keep dreamin' kid. 😏 However, Alola DOES have its perks and charm 😎
Just kidding Galar was my first Pokémon game but it was not my favorite it was my least favorite
paldea WAS a great open world. You are clueless and johto is the best region by far
Johto's weakness is its reliance to Kanto. Johto games are mainly popular *because* there are two regions.
@@wikiuser92
no they are not, they are popular because unlike in kanto and hoenn the game dosent flood you with objectives and trainers who stop you each 5 centimers you walk in and let you do your own thing.
@@TheFalseDragon Are you sure that doesn't apply to Johto as well?
@@wikiuser92
its not, thats the briliance of it. johto itself dosent have alot of trainers who stop you. the majority of them are in kanto. johto rocket HQ % radio tower does not have alot of trainers either in comparison to the tedious team HQ in hoeen and kanto. in comparison to the tedious annoying trainers in both kanto and hoenn where you cant walk 2 centimeters without a trainer stopping you to battle. this is why kanto playthroughs are trash and why gen 2 had the most replayability.
@@TheFalseDragon Johto has routes filled with Trainers just as Kanto or Hoenn do.
Having Alola over Hoenn is crazy bro
You put Kalos over Johto? Shame on you
If we ever get a New Legends game, Legends Kyurem is the most logical choice so watch out Sinnoh Maybe Unova will surpass you
galar region design is indeed bad but the pokemon the legendries and starters are not the best but the others are great and the regional variant is amazing

I still think paldea can pass at least kalos. I would argue gen 7 and even 2

Well the Eternatus side of the story is awful, and overall the game is a rushed mixed bag. The Pokemon designs are great though, I won't deny that.
The problem is they sold a slightly better DP for full price. The games are not bad on their own, they are just... Too similar to be worth 70 dollars
@@sebastiaosousa5730 $70 dollars? Maybe you live somewhere else, but here it costs a standard $60, just like how the originals were the standard $40.
Spain dumby 😂
Because it’s based on Spain…not Mexico.
