I absolutely adore this song. It makes me feel this incredible sense of dread and sadness. It is sad that things have changed so much, and I will never get the old days back, and that's okay. I will be alright, even though things aren't going at the same pace as me, eventually, it will all be okay.
I agree, it’s a melancholy farewell to the past with a glimmer of hope for the future. “It’s time to let go. I hope I will be okay, wherever I choose to go”. The nostalgia of the song makes it all the more powerful.

I became a fan during the AM-era. The second last cd was okay. But their latest album is pretty good.
Those upstrokes just sound awful, it give the song’s flow a jolting disruption. Jamie’s guitar sounds great though.
it’s literally the theme of the album. the upstrokes are used in the intro to this song and throughout the album. i personally dig it.
