I’ve got this engine on my bench at the moment. When I was playing with it last (6 months ago) it was blowing smoke and spitting oil after just a few minutes of running so I stripped it down this past few days and put a new set of rings into it.
It is a nice looking engine and relatively easy to work on. It uses o rings for all mating parts so dismantling and reassembly is a breeze.
I’ll be putting some tanks of fuel through it in the coming week.

@darrenfawcett9912 looking forward to more videos of it running affer the maintenance work you done on it. Hoping to own one of these sometime soon, but finding a well looked after and fully functional one could be a challenge

Are you using the tim6 ignition ? Your coil must be small enough to fit in the baseboard. My coil is very large and looking for something smaller

Yes, this is the first model that I have fitted the tim6 ignition module to and I’m using a coil similar to a Wilco. All my other spark ignition models have a Velleman K3543 kit fitted.
Small coils are hard to come by. If you could somehow send me your email I could send you some pics.

Thats a very neat location for the fuel tank…. Would appreciate a pic of how it locates onto the block. What fuel do you run this on

I shaped up two brackets that slot into and are secured by the top two screws on that back cover. I didn’t want to drill any new holes in the block. The tank can be height adjusted by using a second set of holes on the bracket. Now that the engine is running I don’t think I need to make any more height adjustments so I could neaten it up a little by cutting those extra holes off.

There has not been a V-4 video for years. Having one underway myself, I can appreciate the time put in to get this quality that your showing. Do you have a build log/forum

@@Thenuck123 I can’t take credit for the build, I just finished it off with making the base, ignition system, exhaust trumpets, tank and then a few slight mods/adjustments to the distributor and carby.
It’s still not running right yet, when I get time I’ll be stripping it down and investigating why it has started blowing so much smoke and oil. I suspect the rings have failed.
