How to like a comment 1000 times? I watched the anime in the middle of a situation where I was hanabi and my ex was mugi. (Basically same concept but we fawned over other exs). I didn't really accept it as first but we ended just like they did in the anime and all I have to say is that my life has definitely turned for the better
How tf this shit would never happen in real life especially when you’re young. Have you even seen the anime. This shit was a love triangle times 2 or sum shit. It was like a love pentagram. There was that one girl whose personality was literally being lesbian and obsessed with Hana, then there was the teacher who apparently got turned on by making other girls sad by fuckin their bfs or crushes, then there was the mega simp oni-chan that simped so hard for the mentally damaged teacher until his efforts actually got him married, and then mugí is just like there half the time doing nothing except being overly obsessed with the teacher. Hana is also kinda dumb too cuz she let herself get used by everyone. Like her lesbian friend basically raped her multiple times and she just let it happen while I’m just there feeling sad and angry that she just letting that shit happen MULTIPLE TIMES. Like bro shit just make you feel uncomfortable as hell. So in conclusion, no this anime don’t portray real life when you’re young or at all.

i have watched animes since i was 5yold from the times of digi charat nyo and such. The only ones i love are the romance ones and i can say kuzu no honkai was one of the best ever , not your tipical moeblob ugu bullshit but some real stuff of what could actually happend when you get in love with someone
I hated it and dropped it after 6 episodes, but after like two years I got interested in it again, and finished it. I'm glad I did, because I ended up enjoying it. 8/10.

This is one of the most underrated anime's I have seen, people may say the ending was a screw but it was a bit more realistic not everything ends happily.

yea same i like everything about the anime except the ending(resolved in the manga tho) and the blonde girl. Idk what her purpose is tbh. If she wasn't in the show the plot would be 95% the same. Plus she's kinda annoying and there would be more screentime for the other characters.
Honesly this anime is very realistic to me in some ways, other than some other animes, that's something I love about it, everyone's not happy all the time, nor are they sad all the time, they actually have our qualities as humans pretty well, they have their fun moments too, plus the way they use the character's eyes for expressions are beautiful
One of my favorite anime’s, it shows how complicated relationships can be and actually are, I know a lot of people don’t like it, but going through and relating with almost all the characters just made me feel not as alone... it makes me happy to see others feel that way. I’m happy the way it ended I actually didn’t want them together cause it would just still be toxic

I love Kuzu no Honkai so much, it's not your typical "in the end is everything ok" anime, it's fxcked up and you have to think about several things. And the Opening is just the icing on the cake, it's a great opening and i really love it.

I haven't seen a single person actually appreciate the ending. It honestly made me mad and I hated the whole series for it. People are entitled to their own opinions though. I would had liked more story progression with Ecchan.

maybe because japanese are good at creating love stories but SO BAD to make ending for them. "i love you" *truck /fireworks / other random noise* "what did you say?" "ho, nothing" *credits roll* this is one of the few that shows a more "real" japanese relationship. Some times they just don't love each other but stay togheter for X things they want. I knew a guy from spain who stayed with his japanese wife for like 3 years and he just wanted the japanese documents while the woman just wanted a child from a gaijin. Some times it is like that , they just stay with other people if they can't get the ones they love + the idea of the anime showing you the "scum" thinking of them (the moments when you see a black cloud across the screen if when they think bad stuff about others , like the dude knowing he does not love the little girl and still wants to fuck her , thinking "im going to hell for this") shows you something more real instead of your tipical moeblob ugu relationship
Whenever a friend asks for an anime recommendation. I can't help myself but recommend them this. After that I dont hear them asking for recommendations again. I guess they dont like it. But I dont get why. This anime definitely portrayed how people can be greedy and messed up. It's so realistic and I love it.

SAME ! i felt so angry when my friends hated on this masterpiece they didnt get shit Kuzu no honkai is not just like any other teen romance anime its way more than that. It shows us the dark and hidden side about love the one that no one want to talk about. The anime is beautifully sore and melancholic at the same time we knew from the start that Hanabi and Mugi were toxic to eachother yet we couldnt help but ship them bc we believe that they were meant for eachother regardless of the toxicity and pain they cause to each other that's why we humains suck at love and accept the love we think we deserve to avoid being alone. Recently rewatched the first few episodes of this anime, I still think this anime is really good at portraying the realism of unrequited love and the realities of relationships in general.
Although the ending was sad it was an amazing yet very depressing anime and that's what I like about it. I think now a days animes are juts all super happy and stuff but it's nice to see something sad yet very heart warming anime
I’m sad that people disliked this anime, but in a way its justified. This anime is something that will make you unbelievably uncomfortable. There were several times where I cringed at the lack of common sense but… it’s justified. It portrays desperation and finding meaning and even redemption in such a wonderful way that makes it satisfying. Someone out there has this as their truth.
The ending was absolutely perfect because they maturely accepted what they had was not love at all. They are just replacements for the ones that they really loved so there's no way they're gonna do it for real. I'm glad they did that pinky swear just to remind themselves what they really needed to do. No people, the "feelings" they had for each other when they were together was their libido making them horny and their last good bye was genuine respect and care.
In the sequel they start a relationship years later. So I don’t think that these feelings were just because of physicals contacts. It’s just wasn’t the right time for them, they were blinded by their own feelings for someone else but there was a real affection between them. Just not the right time
i honestly didnt understand why a lot of ppl didnt like the ending, it was appropriate (for me at least),, Mugi didnt deserve Hanabi anyway, theyre better off finding their own separate ways. The only thing i didnt like was it was the same thing with the Sensei,, he deserved so much better than Akane tbh

I think some people who ship these characters look at the hookups and romance to be leading into something positive, but then severing ties to be negative, hurtful.. when really I think even the intimate moments are just bittersweet. These gestures are impulsive and are selfish to each character. The ‘relationship’ served it’s purpose and ended. Once sensei and whoever got married, Hanabi and Mugi’s unrequited love was over and they had to move on so they could mature and have a love of their own that feels real, and mends their hearts like normal.
When I was 18, I thought ending is shit. When I was 20, I started to think this is the most appropriate ending for them. It takes 2 years for me to understand and accept this ending.

First off, I love this song. Second, this anime reminded me at 51 how when you're a teenager things are SO DAMN SERIOUS. It felt that way, and watching these characters really brought that back to me.

True aff. Kuzu no honkai is underrated. Many don't like it because they watch it expecting a shoujo like romance with a happy ending when kuzu no honkai is more of a drama if anything. This anime shows the dark side of love and it's effects, a very realistic thing. There are many Akane, Mugi and Hanabi out there.
I searched up top ten ecchi's in youtube, and one of the videos had this in the number one and I was like, "alright im gonna watch this". I just finished the whole series and I now have Clinical depression. (I mean like I don't regret watching it, it had a diff plot from other animes and I guess it gave me a breather, it wasn't too bad. And I can't complain about the ending.)

For some reason, this anime has Norwegian Wood vibe by Haruki Murakami. It's feels like in a dream-like world, yet reality still kicks in. His story explores complex emotions, especially as a teenage shown by Hanabi, and Mugi's adolescence. This story's realistic tbh, it does not shy away of how sexuality affects the character's emotions and relationships. The story's unique and relatable. It also shows the angst the main characters have to go through in dealing with desire for attentionz belonging; but it does not shy away that others are just after lust or motivated by annoyance or narcissistic tendencies (Ms Akane). The ending? Tbh, I love it. It does not end the way we wanted it, yet... most relationships like that don't end well. They have no choice but to move on. Part of me love the dynamic relationship between akane and narumi. Akane is unapologetic for being promiscuous and constant need being desired by men, may have been caused by an unhappy childhood. Tho still clearly wrong, Narumi proved her wrong with her assumptions between true love (loving her no matter how flawed she is) and conditional love (loving her if she only acts in a certain way). For me, the characters and their developments, and their representations, pacing, animation and music and ending, I'd give a 11/10. This is my evaluation

this is one of the few that shows a more "real" japanese relationship. Some times they just don't love each other but stay togheter for X things they want. I knew a guy from spain who stayed with his japanese wife for like 3 years and he just wanted the japanese documents while the woman just wanted a child from a gaijin.
Some times it is like that , they just stay with other people if they can't get the ones they love + the idea of the anime showing you the "scum" thinking of them (the moments when you see a black cloud across the screen if when they think bad stuff about others , like the dude knowing he does not love the little girl and still wants to fuck her , thinking "im going to hell for this")

SAME ! i felt so angry when my friends hated on this masterpiece they didnt get shit Kuzu no honkai is not just like any other teen romance anime its way more than that. It shows us the dark and hidden side about love the one that no one want to talk about. The anime is beautifully sore and melancholic at the same time we knew from the start that Hanabi and Mugi were toxic to eachother yet we couldnt help but ship them bc we believe that they were meant for eachother regardless of the toxicity and pain they cause to each other that's why we humains suck at love and accept the love we think we deserve to avoid being alone. The anime is pure perfection from the beginning to the end (that no one tend to understand ) it s the most realistic anime iv ever seen
Recently rewatched the first few episodes of this anime, I still think this anime is really good at portraying the realism of unrequited love and the realities of relationships in general.
One of the endless things I love about this anime is the fact that you can see the pain just through their eyes. So well animated.

I’m sad that people disliked this anime, but in a way its justified. This anime is something that will make you unbelievably uncomfortable. There were several times where I cringed at the lack of common sense but… it’s justified. It portrays desperation and finding meaning and even redemption in such a wonderful way that makes it satisfying. Someone out there has this as their truth.

I love how their eyes spoke their feelings out. The emptiness was there and never left.
The ending was absolutely perfect because they maturely accepted what they had was not love at all. They are just replacements for the ones that they really loved so there's no way they're gonna do it for real. I'm glad they did that pinky swear just to remind themselves what they really needed to do. No people, the "feelings" they had for each other when they were together was their libido making them horny and their last good bye was genuine respect and care.
In the sequel they start a relationship years later. So I don’t think that these feelings were just because of physicals contacts. It’s just wasn’t the right time for them, they were blinded by their own feelings for someone else but there was a real affection between them. Just not the right time
i honestly didnt understand why a lot of ppl didnt like the ending, it was appropriate (for me at least),, Mugi didnt deserve Hanabi anyway, theyre better off finding their own separate ways. The only thing i didnt like was it was the same thing with the Sensei,, he deserved so much better than Akane tbh
dimplepop totally agree. I think some people who ship these characters look at the hookups and romance to be leading into something positive, but then severing ties to be negative, hurtful.. when really I think even the intimate moments are just bittersweet. These gestures are impulsive and are selfish to each character. The ‘relationship’ served it’s purpose and ended. Once sensei and whoever got married, Hanabi and Mugi’s unrequited love was over and they had to move on so they could mature and have a love of their own that feels real, and mends their hearts like normal.

When I was 18, I thought ending is shit. When I was 20, I started to think this is the most appropriate ending for them. It takes 2 years for me to understand and accept this ending.

This anime/manga is perfection. It filled my heart with something heavy and I just love it. I also love the characters especially Hanabi. My love for dark/heavy romance anime/manga is back once again after getting scared of it because of watching/reading too much fun comedy.

This anime is a masterpiece and no other person can tell me otherwise. People can shit on it all they want but there's a reason why the genre josei isn't popular. The realistic factor, the visuals, the theme, the story, the plot, the characters, just _perfect._
True aff. Kuzu no honkai is underrated. Many don't like it because they watch it expecting a shoujo like romance with a happy ending when kuzu no honkai is more of a drama if anything. This anime shows the dark side of love and it's effects, a very realistic thing.
There are many Akane, Mugi and Hanabi out there.
I searched up top ten ecchi's in youtube, and one of the videos had this in the number one and I was like, "alright im gonna watch this". I just finished the whole series and I now have Clinical depression. (I mean like I don't regret watching it, it had a diff plot from other animes and I guess it gave me a breather, it wasn't too bad. And I can't complain about the ending.)

This song is so spectacularly good, omg.
For some reason, this anime has Norwegian Wood vibe by Haruki Murakami. It's feels like in a dream-like world, yet reality still kicks in. His story explores complex emotions, especially as a teenage shown by Hanabi, and Mugi's adolescence. This story's realistic tbh, it does not shy away of how sexuality affects the character's emotions and relationships. The story's unique and relatable.
It also shows the angst the main characters have to go through in dealing with desire for attentionz belonging; but it does not shy away that others are just after lust or motivated by annoyance or narcissistic tendencies (Ms Akane).
The ending? Tbh, I love it. It does not end the way we wanted it, yet... most relationships like that don't end well. They have no choice but to move on.
Part of me love the dynamic relationship between akane and narumi. Akane is unapologetic for being promiscuous and constant need being desired by men, may have been caused by an unhappy childhood. Tho still clearly wrong, Narumi proved her wrong with her assumptions between true love (loving her no matter how flawed she is) and conditional love (loving her if she only acts in a certain way).
For me, the characters and their developments, and their representations, pacing, animation and music and ending, I'd give a 11/10.
