    Guys I don’t mean to be floating my boat to much, and jumping on the Fuji wagon!
    But man I’m loving this little camera and editing the raw files.
    I’ve had a few comments about the DR setting with Fujifilm, and how it doesn’t effect the RAW files and that it doesn’t do 2 exposures.
    Heck this great video out explaining it, and how it takes a lower and higher iso image ruclips.net/video/RjjCa73XxsY/видео.htmlsi=lEdksu_vzeQyEfMG
    Also my presets are in the description 😊

      @@TheDanyDanDany not at all , don’t let a little grain bother you. My biggest gripe nowadays especially with RUclipsrs is that they mostly get their gear sent to them for free so their obligations are 50/50. Things get overhyped between full frame and apsc. Like I mentioned it was a scary transition since I’ve been with Sony for over 10 years but I needed a change and this was the right move for me . Fuji is a very capable system.

      That 27 1.2 and its sibling 75 1.2 are such great lenses, sharp wide open and has a certain quality of it. I love it. I pretty much sold every other lens i had as i wasn't using them anymore. The 13mm 1.4 that used to be the best by viltrox now seems due an upgrade to these quality levels. The weight is a bit on the heavier side, but not a problem for me. I was used to canon 5D IV before, with zoom and flash for day long events. now i carry 2 fujis (X-T3 and X-T5) with these 2 lenses and flash if required and it doesn't bother me.

    Pretty sure DR200 isn't taking two exposures. It's underexposing one shot and then increasing the exposure in post to preserve highlights (at the cost of more noise in the shadows)

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hey check the pinned comment man, there is a video explaining this in more detail how it shoots at a lower and higher iso and blends them together simular to HDR

    • @aleksandrmikhailov3255
      @aleksandrmikhailov3255 5 месяцев назад

      @@gerardneedhamI've checked the pinned video and he actually made a small mistake describing it. There are comments correcting him, even from a person who actually read the source code of the firmware. Basically it is really just underexposing and messing with metadata later. It's true that it happens before the file is written and affects RAW as well. But it's not using multi iso. But anyway, the result is the same - protecting highlights and adding some more noise in the shadows

    It's a good feeling to find something that just works for you and hopefully gives some relief from GAS. I feel the same way about the a6700, nearly perfect for all personal use (would still get Sony FF for paid client work). Finally a Sony camera with truly nice colors with Fuji-like skintones in JPEG -- much nicer than the A7III/IV (hope a7V gets the new color science). Lots of great lens options, compact, incredible autofocus, long battery life, 4k/60/120... it's all I really need from a camera body.
    Okay maybe an on-board pop-up flash for bounce would be nice. And a second SD card slot. That's it, I promise!

      @@gerardneedham If there's one thing I've learned, it's that cameras and lenses are always a compromise, and it's about finding which compromises you can live best with (for the moment at least). I might have gotten the XS20 but didn't really feel like re-buying lenses, and I do think the autofocus of the Sony is the most important feature when you need to capture fleeting moments. I've been with Sony APSC since the NEX-5N (back when many considered mirrorless to be a futureless gimmick), though my first camera was a Fujifilm F30 point-and-shoot that took incredible photos.

    Great video :) I have been thinking of buying this one for me but not sure yet, mostly because of the autofocus (many people say it is not good). What lenses would you recommend for someone that is debuting in photography and likes landscapes but also close up and portrait photography?
    Great tips, thanks !

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  4 месяца назад

      Good choice!
      The auto focus is fine for landscapes and portraits, I made a seperate video about the XT5 for portraits so check that out!
      I think the best lens for landscape is the 18-55 and maybe a telephoto zoom like the 70-300. These are all super affordable but amazing
      For portraits I’ve been loving the Fuji 18mm f1.4, the viltrox 27mm f1.2 and the viltrox 56mm f1.7
      I think the viltrox 27mm is a great place to start for portraits if you only want the one lens

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  6 месяцев назад

      Yes I do! I reckon get the 23mm f2 prime to start, then you can find out if you want to shoot wider or tighter as it’s a 35mm fullframe, meaning you get a great versatile field of view.
      Or the 18-55 is amazing, but try not to zoom to much and go out and stick to one focal length for a day, so one day shoot at 18mm then the next day shoot at 35mm and see what you like better.

    This is a great video.
    It may be different for you (or other professionals) but if you had to pick one system to begin on (for photo and video) which would you choose? I feel like Sony is a great system, and the Fuji is a great play thing. I am in the process of picking my first system and can't really decide between fuji/sony and even FF/APSC. I am leaning toward an older FF body to begin with and start learning, but maybe pick up an older fuji down the line to play about with

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah if you want to do this as a job I would recommend Sony FF, purely for the fact it’s the king for hybrid shooters with the autofocus and colours for photo and video. Sony also have the best lens selection as you can pick up some amazing 3rd party lenses on a budget.
      I know people who use Fuji for work, h2 and the H2s but for me, it’s the lack of really amazing lenses. Sure they have a few but they are no G master or canon L series.
      Also I work a lot with zooms, and a f2.8 APSC zoom is really like a f4 in full frame.

    No question Fuji auto focus and tracking is absolutely the worse, dead last place. If I had to start all over, definitely would be Canon. Yes no third party lens but their optics are superb.
    Nikon is only good with z8 or 9, unfortunately they don’t have reasonable bodies with superb tracking like Canon does. Not every Sony is good at tracking depends on which model …..the ability to track fast small birds is really the gold standard for judging. On humans you can almost get away with Fuji which doesn’t say much…..but when it comes to user experience of course Fuji is on top…as long as you’re not swearing too much about tracking.
