Let this be a lesson to all you aspiring artists out there: Tina's comeback wouldn't have been possible without the hit records. It's all about that strong lead vocal, big hooks and simple instrumentation. Write good songs.
What you get is what you see, steamy windows, what's love got to do with it, the best.....proud Mary, river deep mountain high, fool in love, nutbush.....and , and ,and and. Whenever I feel down I have a Tina moment. Listen to everything TINA. She empowers me. Stand tall, chin up and face another day. We were ALLLLLLL blessed to have such: grace, beauty, talent and strength for a brief moment in time.
RIP MY DEAR SISTER. YOU DONE GOOD. MADE US ALL SO HAPPY AND PROUD.
Thanks for highlighting the re-release of Private Dancer! - My favorite Tina songs are “You Know Who Is Doing You Know What;” “Undercover Agent for the Blues;” “Break Every Rule;” “Steamy Windows” and “Private Dancer”
One of the greatest memories in my life was when I was working in Norfolk and listening to the Morning Show on 92.9, The Wave; and they had their trivia question asking what album in 1984 won three Grammys. Caller after caller kept focusing on the Grammy winners in 1984. I called in and correctly answered the question with Tina Turner's Private Dancer album which was released in 1984 but won the Grammys in 1985. My prize - two tickets to Tina's latest Wildest Dreams concert tour coming to the Virginia Beach Amphitheater with an opening act by Cyndi Lauper. I went nuts when the announcer said I won. The concert was fantastic and the opening act was hilarious in it's own right with a VERY pregnant Cyndi bouncing around on stage in a one-piece Spandex jumpsuit while most poignantly singing She Bop and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. I asked the person I was sharing an apartment with if he wanted to go and he said no. I then asked if he'd ever been to a concert before and he again said no. I said, "Shut up. No arguments! You're going. You asked me to list my favorite Tina Turner song - well it's a tie between We Don't Need Another Hero and Goldeneye. which brings me to the next best part of this memory. When the first sustained note of Goldeneye was played, my roommate went nuts screaming at the top of his lungs because he was probably the biggest James Bond film fanatic I've ever known. I hadn't made the connection yet and was slightly confused at his excitement until I too recognized the song which he had recognized instantly.
“I Might Have Been Queen”
A powerful declaration from Tina. I love the intensity of it, telling you she’s in control.
A true rock icon, especially when fans who rallied to your side included major stars who were inspired by you! RIP to the legend, Tina Turner!

Difficile de ne pas apprécier Tina Turner quand elle chante sur scène 😃❤🎸🎤🎶
I wasn't that much of a fan of the music in the 80s, as a teenager i was more into metal and punk also radio tended to play certain songs to death back then but i always admired her comeback as one of the greatest comeback stories of music history. And nowadays i also love the music and wish that i had seen her live act, because she was such a natural and energetic performer.
