I’m sorry to hear about your past experience with edge controls. The headaches and nausea could come from toxic ingredients from an edge control that you were using. Many edge controls do not have healthy ingredients that could cause negative side effects on one’s hair and skin. In this video, you have 4 healthy natural ingredients. If you do decide to try this recipe, make sure that you’re not allergic to any of these ingredients.
It will last for a day, however if you want it to last longer, it may require more ingredients depending on how thick your hair is. I would recommend using it with the right edge control brush/comb that will help lay down your edges a lot smoother. Sometimes a toothbrush is not leveled evenly, which makes it harder to apply the edge control to your edges.
You can try adding a hard butter such as cocoa butter mixed with beeswax and mango or shea butter. Another tip would be to wrap your hair with a silk/satin scarf right after you apply the edge control to your edges. That will help produce a stronger hold. Make sure your hair is already damp or moisturized before applying the edge control to avoid unnecessary flakes.
Hi, I don’t believe Vaseline is going to be strong enough to hold as an edge control. However, a great substitute that can hold is either carnauba wax or Candelilla wax which is plant based.
This edge control can last for a few hours up to a full day. If you are looking for a stronger hold, then I would recommend mixing it with organic cocoa butter and shea butter and you can maybe add a little honey to it as well.
