For someone who has only been doing this for two months, what you’ve shown us has been very impressive. Best of wishes to you.
Misha, or anyone, wear a mask when grinding or dry cutting. Really anytime stone dust is present! Silicosis is a B….! You might thank me 20 years from now!
Great work though! You’re doing everything right.
I’d say instead of scraping the mortar out of the joint the next day go ahead and do it while it’s wet. Saves time and less risk of chipping or scratching the corners.
But really nice work!
Agreed here, also I didn't back butter the wall, you get too much thinset on your hands messing with the tile
I do tile work for a living. This is a very professional job and very hard to do great job!!
Thank you so much! Means a lot
Wholesome
I've seen a jig that attaches to the grinder has anyone seen it ?
@@glynncops Not me. That would be great
@@WINNI.DesignsWhen cutting the tiles, should I add extra dimension for the tile adhesive thickness? If so how much should I add please? Thanks
Looking really good - that tile coach RUclipsr doesn't really tech much - this is quality.
Really helpful video. Really well cut. No unnecessary info and speeding up parts of the video so the whole procedure could be seen in a much shorter amount of time was excellent. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the videos mate. I'm in the UK and about to reno a flat I just bought. Doing a total demo in the bathroom and installing a wet room. I've never done that before and your videos explain things like I'm 5 years old (that's a good thing).
I will attempt this soon. I'm on the walls now, floor is done. Your tips are super helpful. Cheers
Just rewatched it....even better...thanks a lot...got a lot of confidence from this :) and did it :)
Incredible! Very precise! Love it.
looks great. I'm going to have to try this on my upcoming bathroom reno
I was seriously struggling 😒 with Schluter’s edging for my new shower and didn’t want bull nose ... and then I found your channel. Thank you so much for saving my sanity 🥰 of having to look at a metal edge compared to a professional finish. 🙏🏼
Yeah the metal trim trend really looks bad. I hate it.
Gold edging that matches fixtures can be very nice too
amazing corner technique, and finished perfectly. I will do this with my bathroom. I'm impressed. And I'm a nit picky A linear SOB!!
Beautiful work,thanks for the video!
Not a lot of folks doing outside corners this way.
These days i'm finding it harder and harder to get a decent fixing price and to mitre tiles takes time and time=money. Most people are not prepared to pay extra and i cant do it for free so tile trim it is.
Beautiful job 👍👍👍
Well done.
Really appreciate this video!!!🙌🏽
Seriously man, bloody professional! 💪
Excellent video and workmanship
Great work. Looks very nice. 👍🏼
Misha, you did a great job thoroughly explaining your process and pricing! Wish you were in the Chicago area so you could do our bathroom one day... please keep the content coming. Appreciate you sharing all the secrets of the trade.
Thank you so much!
Very informative! I will be using this info in remodeling a bathroom in Costa Rica.
Excellent tutorial. Definitely going to try this.
Thank you for the informative video...really helpful!
I can’t wait to see this done
Very nice, I'm about to tile my shower and this is great help.
I appreciate all the detailed verbal information. Thanks.
Great video on how to mitre thanks for the tips
I sent this video to Toll Brothers because they don't know how to do this. Go figure. They should hire you!
Nice vid, thanks for sharing!
Looks great You are doing a great job and I love that big tiles. how long does it take you to finish a shower like this from waterproofing to grout?
Awesome corner !!
Beautiful work and thank you for letting us know where you start with pricing because no one does and I have been doing tile 25 years and find it hard to make anything close to what I make installing planks or click flooring which is my bread and butter. Being 54 I would like to focus on more tile but either have to get faster or charge more lol.
Idk where you’re located but I’m the same way. LVP and commercial jobs are where we make most of our income. I got out of tile about 6 years ago because I was literally doing it for free. Crews of like 7 guys pushed us out of the market within a year. They were doing 1600sqft in 2 long days, we just couldn’t compete with that. Seems like your making good money but at the end of the week after expanses it just doesn’t pay enough. I’m thinking about getting back in but only doing higher end work. Charge more so I can take my time and actually make a living at it.
RAIMONDI BC45 to perform miter cut 45° is a tool that seems doing great and easy work. Never tried since I am working only on my houses but if the tailing is for living Raimondi is huge helper. Thank you for videos!
Riamondi bc45
Hmm i wanted to buy a corner profile but maybe I should give it a try. Those corners really look sharp!
Going to be using this technique down in Ontario Canada. PS my company uses the same sponges so i know i can trust you
Great job!
Great vid. Thanks 👻
Great work my guy
thank you so much!
Nice job! Are you lining up the mitered edge flush with the end of the wall? Thanks
Love your videos show more the cutting process. I will subscribe
Thanks for your video, it's really helping! May be some tiles discs comparison next time? 😉
Tiler from UK, nice job dude, would of been good to see how you tackled that niche in the wall, but great vid.
it's really nice and good video, i have a question, how do you figure it out the measurement for the miter cut to match both side since you need to consider the grout line plus the thin set, thank you.
Excellent reminder to be sure shower door wall is plumb. I’m tiling a steam room with shower with gobs of miter cuts.
Thanks so much good teacher
Here from TikTok brother. Good work
At 1:17 “I’m not a “pro pro” guy. But you definitely are. Then immediately you perfectly explain how to hold the grinder and the movement and I’ve been looking at tile videos for weeks and most people skip and the detailed yet so necessary information. I practiced and was able to get it so thank you so much. I haven’t polished yet but do you think i could use a hand diamond polisher 200 or 150 instead of polishing pads? I’m on a mega budget. I got scammed so I’m doing it myself
love your shirt
do you use the same grout you use for the rest of the area or silicon? epoxy?
What is the green joint compound i see on your fiberboard ? Is it just thinnest over alkyd resistant mesh?
Nice! Would like to see the finishing touches and steps to the miters
Thank you, I make 45 degree miters using the wet saw but will switch and use the grinder and polisher.
Can you send me a link for the polisher thanks
I’ve done both and it’s good to know both but being able to do them on a tile saw is probably more useful to know especially once this fad of large field tile fades. Doing them with a grinder isn’t a good option for anything except large porcelain tile & some natural stone.
Great tips! How do you actually measure for the corner miters?
Awesome video. Thank you for making. What small tool do you use to get the dried thinset out of the 45 joint like you mentioned?
Utility blade
Hi Misha Great video you just saved me 700 on a mitre tile saw!! What are those little tiny wedges you are using to keep the gap on the corner or do you recommend a certain spacing between the mitres? Thanks
Looks so good! Been following along via Instagram
Thank you so much!
Nice work and I’m going to do this vs Schutler trim. But what if your corner isnt perfectly plumb? Like 1/8 maybe 1/4 off. Can you make up for it with thicker thinset?
Great video! 5👏👏👏👏👏for you
THAT PRESSure tip is huuuuuuuuge thank you SO MOUCH!!! MOST BINstructionals don't cover the technique like that
Hello Mischa. Would you be able to miter with a large bridge saw or do you have to do it with a grinder . I know u need the grinder to polish it
Nice bro!
the suction cup you are using on the tile....can you please tell me the make and model? thanks
Beautiful project! Hey a Q: can't I just lay my tile upside down on my tile saw and mitre the edge incrementally until mostly complete, then finish with the hand grinder? I bought a used ridgid 8 inch saw and tried that just now with 24 inch porcelain. gets it close to dimension for mitering at the factory edge. I guess there is some risk having the face of the tile on the rubber mat which collects tile shards somewhat. I'm planning on about 40 linear feet of miters in my master bath. It's a lot of tiles to miter, and I have only used Schluter edge before for outside corners, but this mitered edge looks way more refined.
Very cool video. I’ve been installing 5’ by 10’ tiling’s recently and mitering the 45’s with a sigma angle grinder device. It’s crazy how far tiling has come!
Hi sir
Nice work there bud!
Can you please leave details regarding the sanding discs you are using
Let’s Goooo 🖤🖤
For the mitre groove, why would not use something small like a toothpick to groove out the thinset while its soft VS grinding it out (like you mentioned) when its hard?
nice! and how much do you charge for tile with schluter metal, or bullnose?
Great Instagram channel. Let’s get the RUclips going
I’ve been looking for a video showing how the tile is measured to allow for the overhang when mitering. Whats your distance past the corners. I assume the thickness of thinset effects that so the grout lines stay vertically lined up on the other end of the tile.
Exactly, mitre the first tile and size it "close enough" by estimating the room for the thinset for the second tile and set it, then drop the second tile. They're both the same thickness tile so you just have to get the thinset thicknes right. Ideally the inside corners would both point directly at the corner of the substrate but doesn't have to, you can just compensate with more thinset and cut the length of the second tile when you dry fit it. (FYI better to mitre a little over 45 degrees, like 50 degrees, leaves a bit of a gap and wiggle room and easier to set and fill with colored epoxy paste later instead of grout..)
Do you have a grinder that you think is best I see you using a dewalt is there a grinder that works better or worse I have a ryobi it works but seems week on torque
Totally agree with your shirt lol
I’m having flashbacks to Fine Arts class in college, “ this is the ritornello not jello, it’s just the main beat”😂
Отличная работа
Can I just cut the 45°( on say 4x 16 subway tiles) on my wet saw?
Love your videos, very informative 👍
Doesn't ths compromise the strength of the tile, especially on a corner? Seems to me it will be very easy to chip once installed.
I think when you fill the gaps between the tiles and if done well then it shouldn't be a problem
That 35$ square including material? Nice work, looks amazing!
Misha, how high is the half wall on the left side ? (your right)
This is awesome. Love your skills. Where is your business located? do you do work in Atlanta ?
So much nicer than those lame edging pieces. I wish more tile setters practiced this
hello what size tile is that??
Awesome job!! when measuring for first your tile before your mitre how much do you allow for when using the 1/2" trowel? i.e if you have a 12mm porcelain tile how much extra would you allow for the depth of the thinnest to make sure you have enough of an overlap and that the corners meet up?
What is blade called to polish tile, can a list of machinery used for tiling
Hi, how do you measure for mitre? Add the thickness of tile to your measurements? Geat work👍
Pro tip.. Use a sponge when you cut.
You can do that machine? Or only with the grinder please let me know i feel purchased Ruby tile cuter
Nice video on miter installation. Regarding grouting the miter. It seems many in community as well as grout mfgs recommend caulking instead of grouting to avoid cracks in miter edge. My thinking is caulking does not look as good and clean or match well with wall grout lines. I am also thinking grout would be more robust and protect miter edge from chipping more. Be interested in your opinion and if you have a preferred grout and/or technique for grouting miter edges
Epoxy grout 👍
Hi, a budding contractor here, what was the "little fine tool" that you used to scratch out the thinset so you can put grout in the mitered corner? Is there a video on this? Would love to know, so I can see this clearly from start to finish.
Carbide pick? I’d be terrified to bring any metal near those edges after a few hours….I’d clean them with a plastic wedge after it skins over…
You can use a razor knife. Just be careful. But yeah like the other guy said, wait until it dries for a couple hours and you can get it out east
Looks good...is the 35 per sq ft is it only for tiling or including the drywall waterproof and other things other than tile the wall
Prob for everything
Dampen the back of the tile , will give you more open time with thinset .Blue painters tape works just as well as duct tape , Also wear a mask or grind outside , not good for the lungs young fella . Looking forward to your next vid
All the best 👍
Been following you for a long time. You actually pushed me to start my own company. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos.
Are you charging $35 per linear foot, or $35 sqft for just the actual mitered tile?
Per sqft for whole shower
Is That include in the price of the tile
Assuming you are talking $35 of tile surface.
I do not understand the pricing logic at all. Why against total sq ft vs the linear foot where you have mitre??
@@ryanmaclean5621labor only, for me. The tile costs are all over the board- can’t include that variable in your pricing. I start basic sf pricing at $20 for shower, and increase with features and tile/ stone choices. Hope that helps someone a bit- since no one helped me….
How do you account for the mitre in the measurement? Do you have to add any to the measurement to include the mitre? When you put the thinset on, doesn't it change the measurement?
Same way you'd do a baseboard mitre around an outside edge. But easier since thineset has some play in it :) Only the outside edge count, that's what you need to measure to. Thickness of tile doesn't matter, a 45 degree cut will yield the thickness of the tile offset. Go off of that and just mitre and set the first tile. The second one will make sense. If your substrate is prepped use the same amount of thinset and it will be all good. Just try it! :)
Shouldn't the miters be caulked with silicone and not grout?
At first I thought you were kind of odd back buttering the wall and troweling the tile, but now realize it makes sense. Troweling takes more thinset, especially for large format tiles, why not do that on a horizontal tile vs a vertical wall? Less lifting and spreading thinset on a wall.
Ps. Please buy two suction cups so it’s easier to handle those large tiles.
Good points
What Makita tool and pad is that?
That multimax lite is so hard to clean. Especially off of your hands and tools. I love working with it though.
thats $385 a square meter in Australia. nice job
For that $35/sf, what does that include? Materials and install of substrate as well or just the tile install?
Great vid, thanks
Go online and do the math. This is his labor cost
How do you know that it’s a 45 when you freehand it without a jig?
$35 a square foot? Does that include supplying the tile?
What brand of adhesive, glue or thin set did you use for large tiles, sir? Thank you for your time to answer!
Laticrete Multimax Lite Modified thinset
@@WINNI.Designs Thank you again!
