For those who will craft and brake to learn mods. Super Duper perk WORKS with weapon crafting. And reflex site reduces vats cost also so I would recommend to use it instead of any other
@@MrWestTek there's a whole bunch of hidden effects on weapon mods. Like for the Fixer for instance if you want to max out AP reduction you need Aligned Barrel, Forceful Stock and Reflex Sight, all of which reduce AP even though its doesn't mention in the description.

having a quad _period_ is a decent effect already. If you can't roll explosive, you can go for 50% crit, then max out on crit-boosting perks, and it'll be even more lethal. Basically, railway rifles are overpowered when used on a commando build. Your only real weakness is needing 2 strength for Bandolier 2, because of all the spikes you'll be carrying.

I have a QE25 Railway Rifle and it's amazing. The AP cost is so low that I can use it even in power armor without draining my fusion cores too much. This is because the base AP cost is 20 for the Railway Rifle, while other rifles like the Fixer have an base AP cost of 25. Actually one full AP bar lasts multiple mag reloads on the Railway Rifle until I run out of AP. The explosive effect is especially useful on it as it overrides the projectile animation and makes projectiles "hitscan". This means they hit instant when you pull the trigger instead of having projectiles with a slow travel time, which es very noticeable if you compare explosive and non-explosive shots at long distances with the Railway Rifle. Regarding mods: because of the huge recoil you can only use the automatic version effectivley in VATS, this means you want a Reflex Sight as it reduces AP cost by another 15%.
@@Runescape. The explosive effect got removed from energy weapons if this is what you are refering to. The explosive effect on the Railway Rifle was not touched. It makes it still hitscan, which means bullets aren't simulated when shots are fired - instead, whatever is in the crosshair when the trigger is pulled will take damage instantly regardless of distance. This also allow you to snipe with it in small burst to hit targets that are normally way outside the range of the weapon.

@@Runescape. I own a QE25 Railway Rifle and use it every day in the game. There are no changes and I can confirm the explosive effect still works exactly as I described it.. Whoever told you this is wrong or is confusing things. Regarding pure Boss DPS 50c is also no longer the best. Since the Test your Metal update crit damage is no longer calculated multiplicatively. They mitigated this nerf by buffing the Better Criticals perk, the Eagle Eyes mutation, Blight Soup, Weapon Receivers etc. but the legendary weapon effect is still untouched which left it in this nerfed state. For maximum DPS having 25ffr is much better (even if you factor in more reloads) as faster firerate is still a multiplicative DPS bonus.
I don't have a quad but I've got a two shot explosive with 15 percent faster refill for the critical. It's been my go to since June. I love it. It sucks to reload so much, but it's so fun!

Yeah, I have that but IMO, the quad is better than two shot for this weapon. I also think FFR or 50% crit damage is better than explosive but it's a matter of taste.
I hadn't realized the standard Railway Rifle only has 10 shots, hence the desirability of the Quad. I've been using Ticket to Revenge, it has 20 shots and comes with Furious, so you can get up to +45% damage. It also has Rapid and Lightweight, although VATS Optimized would be the perfect 3rd star. It's tricky getting enough AP for 20 shots to land in VATS, each time I find a tweak to increase max AP and regen rate, there is a noticeable improvement in performance. I have a keybind for Canned Coffee now.
I found in someone’s vendor a quad 25ff limb damage. It totally rips!! My only bitch about it is the ammo weighs soooo damn much. You got 2000rds and that’s like 50+ weight. I was rolling fixers but I think now I’ll focus on these. Great video.
I use a Quad Crit RR with my main character (bloodied vats commando). It is outrageously powerful, vastly more powerful than any other build I have made. Much better than my Quad Crit Fixer, though of course I lose stealth pretty much immediately, but with the fire rate I frequently get multiple crits before the server figures out what's happening and lose sneak. Whether it is correct or not, I frequently see damage in the 1200-1500 range. I also have a Quad FFR which is pretty great, but since I am Crit focused the other is better. Great video, thank you.
i mass produced a bunch of these a while ago with a wide variety ... i ended up getting a Quad-explosive-reload ... i think that's the Groll... but im not too sure ... i would prefer the reduced weight or ap cost personally. but great vid as always mr westtek ...

I have both a quad explosive and a quad faster fire rate and I prefer the faster fire rate over the explosive. It just kills faster plain and simple! Both are amazing though honestly. even though the ammo weight is a bit more I also love that you only need steel to make ammo for it
I have 3 railway variants (Q/E/15c, Q/50c/25v, Q/25/15r). The explosive variant does the best at mid range crowd control, the 50c performs nice for anything, and the 25ffr variant is a certified beast i've nicknamed 'All Gas No Brakes' because it dumps ammo and overkills enemies before the server realizes it's dead. Im sure nothing in the game post legacy removal beats the damage output of any proper automatic quad railway variants except flamer EPRs.
@@CyberPun yeah it does on a Fixer/Handmade but not on a Railway since base VATs AP cost is already insanely low so 25v'll be a wasted star! Don't fall for the 25v hype!
I remember picking up a railway rifle from someone's vendor for like 5k caps and it had Anti armor with, last round dealing 100 damage by 25% chance, also breakers 25% slower. Imagine explosive with anti armor
Always reflex sight it reduces ap usage. Is you can't get a q/e railway a b/e is very good. Not as good as quad for crit spamming but b/e does a nice bit more damage per it,
Legendary Modules are pretty easy to get. But doing the Mole miner event you had lots and lots of items to scrap to buy the Modules. Or do a few events like Uranium Fever, Radiation Rumble or Queen event to name a few, These will get you at least 3-5 items to trade in for Scripts. Think only thing is being lucky being on when they are active. Also getting the Legendary Gods to give you the explosive and Quad in one sometimes requires a lot of crafting and scraping for Scripts to do it again. Also might find one in someone vendor. You can get lucky sometimes that way.
I rolled a quad, explosive, +1 to perception a couple of months ago, and I have a build optimized for this weapon (Commando cards/VATS cards/5 points Demolition Expert/2 points Gun Fu/3 points Bloody Mess/3 points Better Criticals cards--I also use a 1 point Concentrated Fire card to dial in head-shots), and it is truly awesome, make yourself a vegetarian so Blight Soup adds +100 critical damage (instead of only +50), and especially if you go bloodied and bring your luck up to 33+ for crits every other shot. I basically use the weapon virtually all the time. Many people sing the praises of different weapons, but the build I just outlined is very difficult to beat, especially because the ammo for this gun is just steel, so ultra cheap to use given the damage it does.
With the legendary crafting system you can get the Cold Shoulder plan, build it and scrap it to learn the Quad effect. Is there a plan you know of to build and scrap to learn the Aristocrat effect?
I can confirm. I have a Quad Explosive Railway Rifle. I’m not even using tank killer, white knight, or tenderizer, and I absolutely steamroll everything. I don’t even use the long barrel because of the recoil. I simply single tap or burst tap and it stays accurate. Or, I’ll hip fire and ammo dump and it shreds. My favorite think is I pair it with demo expert and grenadier so it has tons of area damage. Sometimes I use it to locate enemies. I’ll fire a round into a room and see the damage numbers pop up, which gives away their location. I can solo expeditions and group events with ease. It’s disgusting.
Railway rifle is the only weapon I’ve been using. I got Q25, A2525 and few other ones, been switching it around. Completely destroys in almost every scenario, but quad is probably the most important star to have
I love my Quad explosive Railway Rifle. It filled the niche that I had after Bethesda eliminated the explosive effect of my Quad Explosive Laser rifle.

You can just hold triangle to spam crits no need to spam the button. I use a Q5025 one and when fully buffed my critical are doing just shy of 2600 damage.
Guys, dumb question. Does quad is learned just by rolling using legendary modules? Do I need something else? A plan? Something learnt by scrapping? I'm asking because I rerolled a railway 35 times and got any single quad, but several explosive. Perhaps bad luck?
I keep around 1500 spikes on my commando build. Starting a boss fight under 700 is risky. Hold crit (triangle) and then shoot as needed in Vats, once gunfu cycles, wait a second then shoot. Let the server catch up.

Heavy weapons (any weapon) with the explosive legendary effect are buffed by demo expert. Yes, the normal damage is increased by the heavy gunner perk.
I've been using the Bloodied Railway rifle for like 2 years, all the sudden after legacies are gone, everybody wants one of these. I have like 9 but haven't been able to get the quad one even tough I've been trying for like 1 years here and there.
I've broken down probably 30 RRs and don't have the long barrel :( But I did roll quad vats cost reduction so I'm using that. Currently running vats commando without stealth perks.
I was dropped a QE 15 vats Railway from a SBQ. Yes it does the damage for sure. I was already a Junkie commando vats build. I also have a JE railway. Both are very good to use. Earl does not like the QE he said LOL
how do you increase your AP? Mine depletes too fast... Also I have read in forums that if you keep the critical buttom pressed it will automatically shoot the critical shot, so you dont need to spam the button

I’ve had a two shot explosive, a quad ffr , and a quad crit dmg version. Today I got a quad explosive and it’s DEFINITELY superior, with the two shot ex close behind. I’m sure AA explosive FFR would be nice too.
@@mucusofwanderhome6945 I’ve found that the quad ex with %25 less VATS cost delivers a crit every 2-3 shots, crits bypassing ALL armour, so I think it’s probably pretty close ! The lack of needing to reload all the time makes me very happy haha
I just switched to rail rifle a few days ago. I spent over 500 legendary scripts to roll a quad and a bullet explosion mod but failed. Eventally I got anti-armor+bullet explosion+rapid load. Not pretty satisfied but still powerful.
Man I was hoping this for this video, the other day I got one after so many tries and was testing it thinking, I wonder what Mr West Tek would think about this weapon, what build do you recommend the most? I honestly don't see much difference from my usual quad
Everything I recommend in the video will be more than enough. But you can make it even stronger with other perk cards. But that may only be useful for boss enemies. It pretty much demolishes anything with little perks.
My QE25 and QE15 crush, I like the extra vats fill better I think as I have enough AP anyway. I also have a Q5015 that does massive crits on bosses, but I only pull out for SBQ, otherwise I carry one of the QE15. Don't pass on a QE rail in a vendor, the 3 star isn't needed at all, and if you can get one at a bargain.
Maxed out cammando perks for damage. Bandolier for ammo weight. Demolitions expert for explosive damage. Roll legendary mods for +300% Ammo capacity, 20% explossive damage, and -25% AP cost. I've been grinding out legendary mods and currently have 1 exceptional RR. It's automatic, explosive, 25% less AP cost, and does 50% more damage when targets are below 40% health. I have 2 mods unlocked for it ATM, and it's the long barrel and recoil compensated stock. I really want a recon scope cause apparently it further reduces AP cost. So I'll need the super duper perk and make probably 100 of em then scrap them all with the scrapper perk card equipped.
I have QE on xbox and love it, but now I am on pc and have yet to roll one. I am always rolling quad, non Explosive. One perk card I recommend, is GUN FU!
Best roll ever have a overdone legendary card build to put as much cards in you’re build, To fit in demo expert it will do 70 explosive damage then pop an explosive bobble head for an extra 25% damage then small guns it’s literally 20% for small guns, This effect is does better damage than 50 crit

Ive only just hit level 50, farming railway rifle legendary rolls takes so much time Im hoping for quad explosive and anything as the 3rd, my best choice is farming caps and just buying one
I just used a shotgun build with cold shoulder and waited until I rolled one. They're hard to get, but I got lucky yesterday and dropped a 2-star quad/explosive. No third perk, but I'm happy lol.
@@Don-Keedik Trust me, you don't need to be instantly OP. Find a build you enjoy, and stick with it. Focus on tagging enemies during events and let others kill so you gain more XP. If you focus on one build, you can scrap your unwanted perk cards to level up your legendary perks.
Omg I feel that in my soul. I accidentally scrapped mine at the legendary exchange, then backed out, and it was gone forever... Until the RNG God showed pity on me, and I got a better one literally 30 minutes ago. Here's hopping you get that gun back, man.
You need to craft and scrap a bunch of them to unlock the mods. Use super duper (Under Luck) while crafting and scrapper perk (under intelligence) for well.. Scrapping.

Quad Explosive and Quad Crit (for bosses) is the perfect combo.

Just so you know the short barrel has way less recoil and the explosive effect also makes the visibility much better while ADS.
Two points in groundpounder (for the others guns one may use) and one in concentrated fire to go for the head is better imo.

I like the fact that the ammo is just simple railroad spikes, so all you need is steel. Steel ammo is heavy but man is it plentiful in the wasteland.

Legendary Modules are pretty easy to get. But doing the Mole miner event you had lots and lots of items to scrap to buy the Modules. Or do a few events like Uranium Fever, Radiation Rumble or Queen event to name a few, These will get you at least 3-5 items to trade in for Scripts. Think only thing is being lucky being on when they are active. Also getting the Legendary Gods to give you the explosive and Quad in one sometimes requires a lot of crafting and scraping for Scripts to do it again. Also might find one in someone vendor. You can get lucky sometimes that way.

I have a quad explosive Gauss gun that has no explosive effect and is indeed broken.
I rolled a quad, explosive, +1 to perception a couple of months ago, and I have a build optimized for this weapon (Commando cards/VATS cards/5 points Demolition Expert/2 points Gun Fu/3 points Bloody Mess/3 points Better Criticals cards--I also use a 1 point Concentrated Fire card to dial in head-shots), and it is truly awesome, make yourself a vegetarian so Blight Soup adds +100 critical damage (instead of only +50), and especially if you go bloodied and bring your luck up to 33+ for crits every other shot. I basically use the weapon virtually all the time. Many people sing the praises of different weapons, but the build I just outlined is very difficult to beat, especially because the ammo for this gun is just steel, so ultra cheap to use given the damage it does.
With the legendary crafting system you can get the Cold Shoulder plan, build it and scrap it to learn the Quad effect. Is there a plan you know of to build and scrap to learn the Aristocrat effect?

I can confirm. I have a Quad Explosive Railway Rifle. I’m not even using tank killer, white knight, or tenderizer, and I absolutely steamroll everything. I don’t even use the long barrel because of the recoil. I simply single tap or burst tap and it stays accurate. Or, I’ll hip fire and ammo dump and it shreds. My favorite think is I pair it with demo expert and grenadier so it has tons of area damage. Sometimes I use it to locate enemies. I’ll fire a round into a room and see the damage numbers pop up, which gives away their location. I can solo expeditions and group events with ease. It’s disgusting.
would a q/e/25ap be good enough
25lvc isn’t needed 15c smacks harder but 15fr or 50%break is also nice, depends on your build & preference though.
Railway rifle is the only weapon I’ve been using. I got Q25, A2525 and few other ones, been switching it around. Completely destroys in almost every scenario, but quad is probably the most important star to have
I love my Quad explosive Railway Rifle. It filled the niche that I had after Bethesda eliminated the explosive effect of my Quad Explosive Laser rifle.

What legendary perk cards do you use for those perk cards you had shown?
You can just hold triangle to spam crits no need to spam the button. I use a Q5025 one and when fully buffed my critical are doing just shy of 2600 damage.
Bloodied faster fire rate railway rifle is absolutely insane
You can even use it stealth if you unlock the silencer for it.

I don't have triangle button so I just use spacebar. You can hold the spacebar down, no need to spam it.
I have a quad +50 accuracy. Thomas the Spank Engine is a beast and not the deadliest version by far.
Just to add, canned coffee will be a good substitute for 25% less VATS because you regen AP even while in VATS.
I keep around 1500 spikes on my commando build. Starting a boss fight under 700 is risky. Hold crit (triangle) and then shoot as needed in Vats, once gunfu cycles, wait a second then shoot. Let the server catch up.

They benefit from demo expert and stabilized only.

Heavy weapons (any weapon) with the explosive legendary effect are buffed by demo expert. Yes, the normal damage is increased by the heavy gunner perk.
I've been using the Bloodied Railway rifle for like 2 years, all the sudden after legacies are gone, everybody wants one of these. I have like 9 but haven't been able to get the quad one even tough I've been trying for like 1 years here and there.
today i found myself a Quad explosive with faster reload. kind of a weapon you start a character for, its a killer
The Railway is a very very good weparon, Build comando, vats and critical shots, enemys dies instantly
I've broken down probably 30 RRs and don't have the long barrel :(
But I did roll quad vats cost reduction so I'm using that. Currently running vats commando without stealth perks.

I was dropped a QE 15 vats Railway from a SBQ. Yes it does the damage for sure. I was already a Junkie commando vats build. I also have a JE railway. Both are very good to use. Earl does not like the QE he said LOL

how do you increase your AP? Mine depletes too fast... Also I have read in forums that if you keep the critical buttom pressed it will automatically shoot the critical shot, so you dont need to spam the button
I would say having unyielding armor is a good start to getting more AP. Hope this helps!

@@johnnatandc Bloodied *ONLY* Unyeilding mandatory requirement is to be below 25% health. Running full health with its puts you in a viscous cycle of benefiting from neither.

I’ve had a two shot explosive, a quad ffr , and a quad crit dmg version.
Today I got a quad explosive and it’s DEFINITELY superior, with the two shot ex close behind.
I’m sure AA explosive FFR would be nice too.

@@mucusofwanderhome6945 I’ve found that the quad ex with %25 less VATS cost delivers a crit every 2-3 shots, crits bypassing ALL armour, so I think it’s probably pretty close ! The lack of needing to reload all the time makes me very happy haha

I just switched to rail rifle a few days ago. I spent over 500 legendary scripts to roll a quad and a bullet explosion mod but failed. Eventally I got anti-armor+bullet explosion+rapid load. Not pretty satisfied but still powerful.
Quad is the way to go with the Railway.

Everything I recommend in the video will be more than enough. But you can make it even stronger with other perk cards. But that may only be useful for boss enemies. It pretty much demolishes anything with little perks.
My QE25 and QE15 crush, I like the extra vats fill better I think as I have enough AP anyway. I also have a Q5015 that does massive crits on bosses, but I only pull out for SBQ, otherwise I carry one of the QE15. Don't pass on a QE rail in a vendor, the 3 star isn't needed at all, and if you can get one at a bargain.

You can definitely still obtain this weapon and the legendary effects. Might takes some divine luck or multiple tries. But it IS still possible.
What set of armor and perks on it are used with a build like this?
Maxed out cammando perks for damage.
Bandolier for ammo weight.
Demolitions expert for explosive damage.
Roll legendary mods for +300% Ammo capacity, 20% explossive damage, and -25% AP cost.
I've been grinding out legendary mods and currently have 1 exceptional RR. It's automatic, explosive, 25% less AP cost, and does 50% more damage when targets are below 40% health. I have 2 mods unlocked for it ATM, and it's the long barrel and recoil compensated stock.
I really want a recon scope cause apparently it further reduces AP cost. So I'll need the super duper perk and make probably 100 of em then scrap them all with the scrapper perk card equipped.
How about the last 3 mods?
I have QE on xbox and love it, but now I am on pc and have yet to roll one. I am always rolling quad, non Explosive. One perk card I recommend, is GUN FU!

Best roll ever have a overdone legendary card build to put as much cards in you’re build, To fit in demo expert it will do 70 explosive damage then pop an explosive bobble head for an extra 25% damage then small guns it’s literally 20% for small guns, This effect is does better damage than 50 crit
Quad Explosive is the reaaal deaaaal lol 25% less vats is probably the best 3rd star for that combo. With canned coffee that AP bar doesn’t move much lol

Level 50 is the cap for most weapons and armor. Some 45.
Another good second star would be +50 critical or +25 weapon speed

I just used a shotgun build with cold shoulder and waited until I rolled one. They're hard to get, but I got lucky yesterday and dropped a 2-star quad/explosive. No third perk, but I'm happy lol.

@@Don-Keedik Trust me, you don't need to be instantly OP. Find a build you enjoy, and stick with it. Focus on tagging enemies during events and let others kill so you gain more XP. If you focus on one build, you can scrap your unwanted perk cards to level up your legendary perks.
Add the Gatling Laser and Plasma to that list.
I accidently changed my legendary effect on mine this morning while modding other guns. I felt like puking!
Omg I feel that in my soul. I accidentally scrapped mine at the legendary exchange, then backed out, and it was gone forever... Until the RNG God showed pity on me, and I got a better one literally 30 minutes ago. Here's hopping you get that gun back, man.

You need to craft and scrap a bunch of them to unlock the mods. Use super duper (Under Luck) while crafting and scrapper perk (under intelligence) for well.. Scrapping.
