“I just didn’t care” - that’s a perfect summation! It reminds me of that Greg Kinnear movie about the windshield wipers (a far worse offender of an object’s origin story than probably this) wherein there’s no real reason for the movie to exist. 💤
that's a shame, I always loved the 80s era of engineering sharing programs off of floppies written in pencil, had a Russian roommate in art school who shared end of the cold war stories, and my father used to be obsessed with conventions and would bring home weird tech to play on the family computer through the printer port.... BUT, I don't buy there was a car chase, I'd bet at some point this production had a Russian ballerina spy who scissors spins around his head. You're better off watching Game Historian's video on Tetris. but still that casting of Nintendo president is amazing. WOW! But that prototype of gameboy.... nooooooo. The excitement of early Tetris really was a thing, but even in it's crude design, a lot of that was Nintendo packaging it last minute.
I thought Taron was really likable in the first Kingsmen and he cemented my fandom in films like Rocketman & Eddie the Eagle, but yeah he was forgettable in this but he definitely has talent
I keep forgetting this came out. Still want to see for myself and then rewatch the Gaming Historian video on Tetris. I think that would be a fun double feature.
Funny, I definitely liked this more than you guys, Tarron too, though he was paddling hard. The stand out role however was Roger Allam as Maxwell, we need a limited series of him as Maxwell and his children (Ghislaine) Epstein). That would be a much more interesting project I want to see made. 6.5 out of 10.
Michelle Yeoh has had one of the most interesting careers ever, she’s been very underrated for a very long time and now she’s the biggest Actress or at least top 5 in Hollywood ,she has gotten better with age
I knew the story and it mostly follows it. But man is it fast paced. I also don’t care about those 8 bit transitions. I did enjoy it a little bit more than you guys but yeah, Air is made by pros and this one by wannabes. Lol. Thanks!!
I'm super nostalgic about Gameboy, Tetris, old handhelds and Nintendo so I enjoyed it more than you guys. I absolutely agree with your criticism though 😂 it was definitely too long, the car chase was so unnecessary, the vídeo game graphics seemed like a way to cover bad CGI, and the repetitive conversation of.who has the licenses 😂 But still was giddy with the Gameboy reveal and had fun.
I’ve never disagreed with y’all more. For what this is, an Apple TV movie based on the creation of a video game, I thought it was extremely solid and well executed. I coulda done without the car chase ending and the over dramatization but the nuts and bolts of the actual true story are fascinating.
It was a bit cliche for sure, Toby Jones is always great, and Roger Allam stole the show, I finished watching being more interested in Roberts story/downfall then anything.. I wonder if they took inspiration for the shredding scene, in Devil's Advocate, from events involving Maxwell Entertainment as depicted here.
I love it, period! I saw it twice and will watch it again. I'm not interested about fact-checking; this isn't a documentary. It's a political satire with outstanding editing, sound, score, ensemble performance, cinematography... everything! Whoa, I love it! Why do you overthink a lot when you do your reviews? Crap. I don't care anymore about you say. You had a boring youth and even boring adulthood? 🤮👎👎👎👎👎
i have to disagree i loved the style - Taron has shown he can be great and no this isnt his best but still really good - I thought this was a great romp of a film
There's no real reason for this OR Air to exist, besides a dearth of creativity in Hollywood right now. American filmmaking needs a good hard kick in the ass like it got in the late 60s.

This wasn't a biopic, but this genre could be called the productpic? Thingpic? Originpic? Lol.
@@tlovehater thingpic! Good one!
Christy saying, "I just didn't ca-are" is max GenX energy.
Ha, fitting.
“This movie is designed for people who gets a ‘chub’ from seeing the prototype Gameboy”
😆😆😆😆
Taron Egerton was really terrific in the Apple+ limited series from last year "Black Bird", in case Alonso is interested.
Great show. Him and PWH were amazing in it. Short watch too iirc. Also Ray Liotta putting in a great performance, surprised it wasn't discussed more.
🎶Brick, brick, brick, brick, brick, brick, brick
It's fun🎶🧱
What's Alonzo's problem with "Holding out for a hero"? It's a good song.
It's in a lot of other movies.
Eureka! Alonso articulated what bothers me about Taron Egerton that I have never been able to place.

He was phenomenal in Black Bird.
@@MuhammadAhmad-oj6mf ooo I haven’t seen that!
@@uhuhuh1966 It's a great limited series, whole ensemble is amazing.
We enjoyed it more than expected. Not great, but more than passable. Thanks, C&A

They really made Rodger Allam look like Ghilane Maxwells dad Robert Maxwell.
Right? It's uncanny.

Paddling hard is a good way to phrase it.
6 for me as well. Definitely watchable.
Too funny! Cash those checks, girl!
She’s earned it!
I thought it was okay, I liked it better than any of this season's episodes of The Madalorian.
Anything above a 4 is too nice.
You didn't enjoy this either?
It was so generic and entertaining at the same time, I definitely had a good time.
Tetris for Jonas!
BOOM!
Michelle Yeoh has had one of the most interesting careers ever, she’s been very underrated for a very long time and now she’s the biggest Actress or at least top 5 in Hollywood ,she has gotten better with age

FWIW the gaming historian did an excellent breakdown of this true story 5 years ago:

Glad it worked for you!
Jesus Christ, you two make me glad I'm not a movie maker.
So basically you're saying Ben Affleck is a genius?
First Kate Bush. Now Bonnie Tyler? Keep hope alive Annie Lennox.

He looks just like him, doesn't he?
@@BreakfastAllDay Very much so, I'm not sure if it was just clever makeup, or actual prosthetic's, but his looks and the voice were just spot on.
Another review I totally disagree with! Great movie. Was into it the whole time. If you haven’t seen it, it’s fun.
Glad you enjoyed it more than we did!
What’s wrong with Tarron Edgerton? 😅
He's probably the most good looking actor working today and so talented at the same time.
Spelling

Well, you both missed the boat YET again.
Thanks for watching, Mark, what did you think of the film?
Makes me glad I don't care about any of the new movie releases!
Thanks Mark, why don't you care?

The Gaming Historian on RUclips already covered this movie's topic in an epic PBS-like documentary, so I feel no need to see this. 🤷♂️
I hear the book's great....movie not so much, I guess.
